I'm going to try to find if the Fox Valley Trolley Museum or IL Railway Museum have pumpkin rides - y'know take the train to a pumpkin patch. My son and I saw the movie Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow last evening - what a good movie - see http://skycaptain.com for more information - I'm sure with the Shark Tales movie coming out, it'll soon be out of theatres - I know I shouldn't be surprised and that tells you how frequently I go to the movies - but $20 for tickets and a small popcorn - yikes.

Any of you fisherman know how to upgrade the coupler on a K-line tender to a Electrocoil coupler?
I bought this Semi-scale Light Pacific 4-6-2 w/TMCC and RS, thinking it had the electrocoil coupler installed on the tender. WRONG!!! it's a regular
magnetic type. I can get a coupler to upgrade it, but haven't the foggiest idea how to hook it up once it's installed.

I called Digital Dynamics earlier today to make sure I was ordering the correct coupler for my K-line tender, and was told that they have received a few calls this week alone concerning new K-line Steam Locomotives being sold without the Electro-coil coupler installed on the tender. All were Semi-Scale 3 rail models with TMCC/RS installed.

Any one have and idea why they are not installing the electrocoil couplers on some of their products?

Digital Dynamics should help you with it. Don't know why K-Line did it [or should I say did not do it] but might be cutting cost. Check to be sure they did not leave it off by mistake. Buckeye might know as he has converted some Williams to TMCC. Good luck.

I checked the last three K-Line Catalogs to see if I could find any model that has TMCC and is being sold without the electrocoupler. I didn't find one. Since Digital Dynamics has said they have been hearing about this situation more than once, it appears the K-Line left them off.

I think LionelAl may want to call K-Line's service department and if it is different than what is advertised in the catalog for his model number, it should be upgraded at no charge.

After saying that, I do have a Lionel Engine w/ TMCC factory installed. It does not have factory installed Railsounds or factory installed Electrocouplers. It is a GG1 and they claimed when it was built that there was not enough room to put everything inside. Go figure.

Good morning - a gorgeous day - one of the last ones I know - all the leaves falling - expected to be in the 40s in a week. Just a quick note before I have to get everyone ready for church - my wife is going to be in a 'drama' that's part of the service so she went over there hours ago -leaving me with all the kids. Good thing for chocolate mini-donuts for breakfast. Whoops, gotta change the baby. I want to try to go buy an Atlas Selector today - I've tried to puzzle out how to use an Atlas Connector to switch tracks but can't figure out how to wire it. It worked when I was using N scale. Maybe I'll search the Atlas site.... hmmm.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden(AP) A drunken driver was arrested Friday morning after he stole his own car _ from the police _ and ran it into a ditch, officials said.

The 53-year-old man had been pulled over for "swerving all over the road," said Bjoern Ohlin, shift commander at the Flemingsberg police station, on the outskirts of Stockholm.

Police impounded the car and took the man back to the station for an alcohol test, Ohlin said. But after the man was fined and set free _ as most drunk drivers are in Sweden _ he took a taxi back to where police had left his car and took it back, using his spare key.

"When a patrol car was on the way to the site to help tow the car, it blew past them in the other direction," Ohlin said.

Police were able to pull the man over _ again _ but as they approached the car he took off at a high speed. He then swerved off the road into a ditch, flipping the car, Ohlin said.

He was being treated Friday with minor injuries at Huddinge Hospital in outside Stockholm. Ohlin said he will face charges of drunk driving and violating police orders.

Taking kids to the soccer field today and then it's play time, Found an old Lionel boiler in a box of stuff I aquired and am trying to resurect the poor thing ,It's a 224 that has been stripped, I've got everything I need for it but cant figure out why the screw that holds the valve gear in place wasn't threaded? Have a graet day.

Every now and then, when under torque at mid range, I'll feel a thump like the lower unit hit something floating. It will only do it one time and then maybe not for several stops and starts. WOT nothing but good speed. [?]

Thanks for the reply, I will probably call customer service to see if they have any instructions on adding the coupler. I just don't know where of how to wire it in. Also this is whats listed on the end Label of the box:

I'll see what customer services tells me and will let you know. Digital Dynamics was also unsure why.

I found your engine on page12 of the 2001 K-Line Second Edition Catalog. Exact same number that you gave above and there is no mention in the engine's features about electrocouplers. Turn the page and on page 14, they show a UP Pacific and in red letters it mentions electrocouplers.

I believe they took the older Pacifics and installed TMCC and Railsounds, but didn't install the couplers because in the next year the Chicago & Alton's number is different and electrocouplers are included. Of course the price increased $80.00.

If you purchase an electrocouple upgrade, the instructions should tell you what wire to connect to what terminal on the TMCC board. When I have hooked these up in the past, I had to make sure I had the actual board orientated the same as the instruction diagram.

Hey ChiefEagles, I'm trying to remember here it's been awile since I had one of these appart ,Does it have an electric clutch or the old cable type? From what you have decribed It does'nt sound like a gear, Just a guess,,,,I was just thinking a tooth missing would seem to me( even a chipped one) a little more pronounced under a load.
Too bad you cant run it and see if anything down below is running hot, Or show any indication of Mechanical stress in the low end.
I have a stethascope I use on the antique cars to see if I can hear little clues of inturnal self destruction that could be cured before it's too late, It would be nice to put that motor in a tank a give a listen before a teardown to try and see what's going on!!!

Could be a dead miss [changed plugs the other day] but it can be duplicated with the troque thing. Running about 2 mph faster than it ever has. [?][?][?] I'm goign to get opinions first.

Yes Chief, we have a problem with drunk drivers over here. Jails are jammed, so we can't put them in jail to clear up. They have to give their license for a couple of hours and pay a charge. No further control on if they go home without driving themselves.

That with the boat-engine (outboard motor?) could be a bearing. the bearings have internal rings to keep the balls spaced, if one of those is gone or loose, balls in the bearing could cling together and under load give resistance. Another thing; have you checked the propellor? Most proppellors are screwed on the axle and secured with a pin trough it. If the pin is loose or missing, the propellor won't be fixed on the axle and, under load, the axle will turn without turning the prop. If that goes on too long, the axle will turn only and your prop will replace it's position to the bottom of the lake..

Sawdust is flying in the basement. New addition to layout has started. Should have photos to post of table this week.[:D] What a difference a good miter saw makes for construction. I now have one with a laser guide and it sure beats the hand held power saw.

I got to work on the layout last evening! I bought an Atlas Connector to join my Selector - one of 'em'll work when I try to rewire everything. I found myself short of a couple of curved pieces of track last evening when expanding my second oval - I sure feel frustrated when I have track 'left over' - I just measured incorrectly - or rather I have the wrong kind of track left over because of it. I do feel compelled to use it somehow - I thought of a way on the train into work this morning - I'll just push out the oval in the opposite direction where there is now a 'pond' - I can always cut this leftover track so it fits in the odd places I need it - or try to use some of my ancient regular 0 track. I probably won't get to it for another week though. I did bind everything up again and run 1684 successfully over it before quitting for the night. My ten-year old wants to set up his HO oval in the middle of it - I took his set down when reorganizing the basement. I have to remember to do it as I think we have the space to do it.

Well Pencentral and Daan. A couple of my outboard experts think it could be the prop hub. It could be trying to "spin" when over torqued by the engine. Will put other prop back on and see [I had changed it for this trip]. Hope it is as not too expensive to fix. Will drain lower unit and check for shavings on magnet on drain plug.

Buckeye, glad you got started. Will wait for the photos.

Doug, sounds like you re really making progress. Extra track???? Never. Always somewhere to put it. Even if you have to buy another switch and make a siding. [;)]
