Just finished replacing a light fixture over the sink in the kitchen. Is three hanging frosted globes in white that hang down by white cords. Matches the new ceiling fan I had to install in the summer [white with 5 airplane prop blades and white frosted globe]. Had to climb into the double sink and then reach up under the overhead. Where's Buckeye? [:D]

Tonight I am in West Lafayette, Indiana. Over forty years ago, the city began a railroad relocation project. The old railroad lines went directly down the street and through the city. I remember standing on the street corner and watching the passenger trains run down the street with the brakeman riding on the rear with a flag.

Make sure you look at this web page and scroll down to see the photos of AMTRAK going through Lafayettee. http://robertpence.com/lafayette_in.html

Tomorrow I will be attending the transportation conference at Purdue, where the Secretary of Transportation will be the speaker. I'll ask him if he would like to be a member of OTTS. [:D]

From the window of the hotel, I can see the freights run along the river. Tomorrow I want to take some photos of the old station that has been refurbished. This is the same station that as a boy, I boarded the train for annual trips to Baltimore. We rode the NYC to Cincinnati and then the B&O through the mountains to Baltimore. The name of my layout is the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash. Lafayette is the western end of the line. At one time, the Wabash, Monon, and the NYC all ran passenger trains through Lafayette.

Nearly 60 degrees here yesterday, so I brought the kids outside and let them play for a few hours. They were all nicely tuckered out come bedtime.

Not much new here. Loved the new Williams ad on the back cover of CTT. The retro art they usually employ is great, but nothing compares to photography to show how nice their stuff really is.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and warmer in SE Indiana today with temps in the high 40s. Had a nice visit with a friend of our older daughter last night. I went to the Y as well, but was really tired for some reason. Work has been busy lately. Buckeye, I hope you enjoy your return to the Hoosier state. Dave, will your daughter try to go to the Final Four in Indy?

Keep on training,

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 40 and going up to 48 with overcast skies and rain in the forecast.

Laz – I believer you are right. You would think with Chief being mayor and all, he would be doing a better job of protecting his borders. Maybe he is on the road to much !

Buckeye – IT would be great having the Secretary as an OTTS member !

I got my CTT yesterday also, Keith must have had it for a few days.

Next OTTS meeting Friday, April 14 Note date change

Pick of the Day

Railfaning yesterday

All be safe
Good Morning from Blueberryhill
It's a gloomy, rainy 43 degrees, right now. Going up to a gloomy, rainy 49 degrees. How wonderful. Guess we won't get to walk today.
Maybe later, the sun will shine.
LAZ... Yep, NC has the most ILLEGALS. And most of them hold public office. It kind of makes you wonder.
Jim...... Yes, Williams looks good. That's a good comparison. I have a Southern Pacific
F - 7 AA, and I can say ...It is pretty.
Well, I will go for now. " Good day to shoot the breeze ".
Y'all have a great day. Keep dry and warm.

Morning, all.

Rained last night but the sun is out this morning. Cool but pleasant here in Prattville. Busy day today - we're in the midst of a strategic planning process. Tonight we write up proposals to bring to the church for approval regarding upgrades and additions to our facilities, additional staff, and a third Sunday morning worship service.

I'll get to play golf for the first time this year on Saturday - hope the weather cooperates. I'm less concerned with cold or rain as I am the wind. Pretty breezy this time of year.

Not much "training" going on right now. Too many other irons in the fire.

Gloomy and rainy here - we need the wet though. Today's my late night - start of classes again - will be taking the late train home - won't get home until 1030.
Wow, Tom, that sure is a high bridge - where is it?
I'm sorry for BB, David. We're a neighborhood of dog lovers - but I feel sorry for some of my neighbor's pets - one lab puppy they leave out barking all day - he's lonely. The other one is a huge German shepherd kept as a guard dog - goes crazy against their fence- a lawsuit waiting to happen.
I got my CTT last night - haven't had a chance to look at it yet except the Williams ad on the back. Love that Rock Island line. I'm savoring it for reading later in the week.

I worked through it yesterday and got the word today our team is on target to make our goal for the month, but my back still hurts. Apparently our insurance company is gonna cut a check this week for our roof and siding for the hail damage - it was supposed to be in the mail last week too though :(

Went by the new subdivision my wife has been eyeballing and they upped the price on her house she wanted by $16K - just because. What a joke. I told her no way, they just sold one for $207K that was the same model she wants and told us they'd make one just like it for $230K. This is not even as good a location as our current home, so that made up my mind against it. I don't begrudge someone a profit, but that's ridiculus. Prices didn't jump by $23K over the past month.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

howdy peeps......how's things? Here - that's Malta, EU - it's short sleve weather, with a temp of 20.8'C.

I'm in my second year of MRR, and I must say that the hobby should be graded a class A drug. Ok, enuf waffle.....business now......

My country is a small pebble in the sea, and we have been berift of a RR since about 60-70 years ago. My RR is atlas track with bachmann DCC diesels and athearn stock - my fave being their SantaFe FTA.

Now.....suppose one was to visit Phoenix AZ, would one be able to see an FTA? I believe they have a train yard there? Can anyone be so kind so as to tell me if it is at all possible to visit(officially, that is) one? If I could stand next to a diesel consist as they start a train, I believe i'll die a happy man. If I can visit a diesel shop I'll go to heaven, too.

So.......anyone out there can make this 47 yo kid's dream a reality?

please?

Beer will be on me.

Morning all,
Actually have trains running this morning. The Williams GG1 ran for a little while, and now the large scale Thomas is going for my son.
Chief, my postal folks seem to like my magazine subscriptions, CTT takes an extra week, Popular Mechanics, Some times I never get, Outdoor Photography looks like it spent time in the break room, and Weekly Standard is always several days late and has the paged through look as well. If they smoked over there, I suspect I would get second hand smoke by reading.

Dennis, I just wi***hey were a little more careful jamming my CTT into the mailbox. Usually the front or back is shredded - but then I get out the tape.
Jim, I hope you can still rest your back. My wife's is getting worse this week. Thank goodness it's spring break. We had a little family meeting with the kids so they help more around the house while I am at work - especially with the youngest.

Maltese_Mike - Welcome [#welcome]. From what you write you may be into HO trains so you may want to check out the Model Railroader magazine forums. Those of us here are typically O gauge and S gauge toy trains. I cannot help you about any railroad museums in Phoenix, but a web search may help you. This web site on the Grand Canyon railway could be interesting for you. http://www.thetrain.com/learnmore_fleet.cfm
Malta is known here as the location for the Popeye movie with Robin Williams quite some years ago (80's).

Cloudy and cooler here today. Should rain this evening. Was supposed to rain yesterday but it did not. Got the lawn mowed.

Busy day today. Have Robotics calss this afternoon. The kids are designing for the district competition on April 8th.

Have a great one all!

They want let me shoot them. [;)] I sat in the presence of a Raleigh City Councilman and he admitted that his wife's construction company would go broke if she did not have so many illegals as workers. He was against trucking them back to their homelands. That is the problem.

Afternoon. Been of this AM with Sheriff's Captain friend and neighbor getting grass carp for our ponds. I pickup up 25 channel cats for the pond too. All stocked and ready for them to grow. Cloudy and sprinkles off and on. Later.

After seeing Tom's pictures of bridges I decided I needed to go to one of my favorite hobby shops and take a little detour. It's a bridge I've been across a few times on a steam engine that a local group runs during the summer but I've never seen it from the valley floor. As you can see, it's a gray day here and I really should make sure I get this shot in the fall.

This is the Kate Shelly high bridge, about 180' from the rails to the river.

UP going west

Taken with a 300mm lens about 1/2 mile away

This area is north of Des Moines about 30 miles and is the upper basin of the Des Moines River. The floods of 1993 were a good test for this bridge but as you can see, she stayed put. Today I was able to see trains running both directions on the bridge but their pace was slow, not quite sure how old the bridge is but there are plans to build on new one just north of it. This is a big UP route.
