QUOTE: How is it that your siding is 12 years old & your house is 9 years old? Sounds like a old Abbott & Costello Routine

Yeah, when the house was 1 the siding was 4, but now the house is 9 and the siding is 12, so they're getting closer! [;)]

Very good question! I guess it was manufactured 3 years prior to being put on my house! The smoke detectors started going bad after we were in the house 2 years and when I finally got a hold of the manufacturer, the guy said they were made 8 years earlier and had a shelf life of 5 years, so duh. Apparently our builder was doing 3 subdivisions in a row, slightly overlapping from one to the next, and he must have bought tons of materials up front or got them from the same supplier?

Hello Jim F- Here's how Lou Costello would do the math involving your Homes age: Your House is 9 and your siding is 12. So, 9 & 12 is 21! You live in a 21 year old house Jim.[;)][:)][:P] And your Smoke Detectors are 3 years old. (They were made 8 years earlier and have a shelf life of 5. 8-5 =3) I wonder how old the land it is sitting on is.[:D] Take Care all & Good Night.

Hello all

Dr. John, a great looking find. Still looking for my first Lionel here in the Northwest.

ChiefEagles[
Fixed greenhouse fan that had stopped. Messed up the whole day's paln. [:(]

ChiefEagles, I hate when that happens. Pushing 50 today and still have not unwrapped or turned on the greenhouse fans. The wife politely pointed that out to me today. That was sure nice of her.

Early morning all. The plans to go out and enjoy the day were shot as I am on call and never got to leave the hospital. Had a emergency case, bad deal. Anyway, we take the bad with the good. Going home to be with the family, even though they are all sleeping.

Thanks for the comment on the El Camino, I have been real lucky with it. It has been a great low cost, low maintence car. Needs a paint job, the clear coat is begining to bubble. My son (Chris), is quite into trains himself. He purchased the PE with his own money and attends all the train shows with me. We still running trains on the floor, he gets different engines and operating cars down all the time and plays with them. I thught he would be burned out on trains, having them around the house his entire life. When he was a toddler we use to play for hours with the die cast Thomas trains, I think he has them all. And then the videos,...... everyone in the family can tell you all their names. We are very peased with him. The El Camino will end up his, one thing is you can't have a lot of other people with him.

I had the opportunity tonight to visit the Angels Gate, hi-railers club. The club was formed in 95, and have a very nice layout. Approx. 25 members, and an extremely friendly group of guys. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

LAZ - We got nothing here in Gettysburg. We are on time - no delay, which is OK with me. We've got some 3nd graders going to a show in Baltimore. A delay would have caused a real mess. Anything there?

Roy - 93 degrees in March. Yikes... I'll take the ice and snow. If it's 93 now, how hot does it get in North Texas in the summer?? Temps like that will fry your GRITS... [;)][;)][;)]

Have a great day.

I went to Charles Ro yesterday to pick up my SF diesel that's been in their repair shop for the past five weeks. There was a guy at the counter talking with Charlie Ro about guns. At first I didn't pay much attention to him, although I thought it was odd that there was a bunch of guys standing around just watching them talk. Then his voice sounded very familiar. I turned around and sure enough, it was Bob Montgomery, former Boston Red Sox catcher and TV commentator. He was nice enough to let me break up their conversation long enough to retrieve my diesel. He's another nice North Carolina boy who runs trains. Anyway, I got the loco home and saw that it didn't work any better than before I brought it in. Nice, huh?

Good morning everyone
We had a small amount of ice today, not much at all. Still staying home, I am as white as a ghost, and my throat is burning.

Jim, you were lucky to meet him, but unlucky about your diesel.

Morning all. ICE those YANKS. [}:)][:D] Was high 70's here yesterday. Going to 80 or so today. [:D] We ar under a burn warning. Sure is early in March for that. Strong dry winds and trees are already taking up the ground water as they are budding. Bradford Pears are blooming. Buttercups are blooming. Maples already have those little red bloom things. The South is alive and going.

Off to Hampton BPS [driving]. Going by Mom's for pork bar-be-que, fried chicken, collards and chicken pastery. [:D]

Have a good one and God bless all.

Good Morning All from NE Ohio

where the temp is 32 and going up to 38 with overcast skies and snow in the forecast.

Roy – sounds like you are going to have to start watering your foundation early this year.

TMCC – yes I do watch SPEED channel from time to time. Didn’t catch that show thou. If you didn’t know, when I was much younger, I used to race the Top Fuel Dragster. Even raced Big Daddy once, and he won (of course).

I will be stopping by the museum tonight with my camera to take pics of the buildings and maybe run some trains.

Pick of the Day

All be safe

Tom, that must have been a lot of fun. I did not know that.

Check this out, I found it on the Trains forum.

http://ghostsrus.com/evp.htm

The recording is from the Altoona RR museum, and if you listen closely, you can make out something saying "Steam, it burns, Lord it burns." Yeah, it is pretty interesting.

Another thing that keeps happening to me is that I can clearly hear the N&W J's whistle anytime of the day. I live about 6 miles from the NS/CSX mainline, and I find it a little weird. I have asked other people about this, and I got a reply from someone saying that they have heard it also.

I can sometimes hear a PRR K4.

Do I sound crazy?

Roy - we (Austin) broke a record yesterday also...but it only got to 87. Same for today (Thursday) but only 65 for a high on Friday...

Good morning all,

It is sunny and cooler today in SE Indiana with temps dropping into the 40s. My son completed his first two hours of work on his new job last night. He said it went well. I did very little besides go to the Y. There seems to be a lot going on around here, and there have some good pictures lately, but I have not had the time to do more than scan them. I will get back into the flow of the conversations again next week, hopefully.

Keep on training,

Roy and Duda - Haven't you Texans heard of spring? It's the season you're supposed to have after winter and BEFORE summer!

Laz - Yes, I'll run the prewar set after I clean and lube the motor. Probably use it a lot on the next Christmas layout.

Chief - When they get the BPS going here in Prattville, you'll have to come down so I can take you to some good Alabama BBQ places.

Warm and overcast today. Not as pretty as yesterday but still a nice day to be outdoors. Need to prune some trees this evening. Have a good day, all!

Hello All! Don-Make sure Chris drives the El Camino very safely. Here in Ohio there have been quite a few Teenagers getting hurt or killed in wrecks lately. Either from speeding, drinking, or not using their Seat Belt. Colin- Hope you feel better soon.Sounds like you're hearing Ghost Trains & I've read about this Phenoumena before that some folks can hear the whistle of a Certain Train that no longer runs or is out of service & no one knows what causes it either? Take Care all.

Good Morning Everyone ! Yes, you guys from Texas are getting all the good lawn cutting weather ! [:D]
Colin :sounds like someone in your area may have some old steam eng. whistles running off an air compressor, maybe. I have a friend retired from the RR here, that was A Diesel Mech, & he has some he brings down to the shop & puts them on our air & blows them. Or, maybe you are hearing things ! [:D][:D]
Chuck: do you think Buckeye is on one of his COVERT MISSIONS again ? [:D]
Well, playing with my camera some more today ! It's still all over my head !! [:D]
Hope everyone has a nice day !

John,

Glad to see you finally got the P&LE car you've been looking for. I think the first time I read that you were looking for one was almost a year ago. They are nice!

You poor guys down south have it rough. 76 in N.C. 80's and 90's in Texas. We have all the good weather up here. 30 degrees and snow for today. It's going to warm up all the way to 41 on Sunday.

Jim: Thanks, I don't know why, of all the cars they make, I picked that one !! [:D] But I used to inspect trains for the P&LE, & then I got a real good deal on an MTH P&LE eng. et the Erie, Pa. train show last year, so maybe that's what did it !! [:D]
Oh, Tom said the Erie show is this Sunday !
We have lots of ice forming here right now ! I think we are getting an ice storm !

No one I know has horns they use off of air compressors.

Now, since I have been hearing steam whistles, wouldn't that mean that they could only be sounded from steam, or could they be configured to run off of compressed air?

As a matter of fact, I just heard an N&W Y6B. What is the matter with me?????

I know my friend blows his old whistles off of air. I'm pretty sure they were from a Hudson .
When you get well, maybe you can track them down & let us know what you found out !

There web site also stated that their phone problems were fixed.
