It is in the single dgits here, even the dog wont go out for more than a minute.

No gritts but I am enjoying my secind bowl of oatmeal. It hits the spot.

I haven't had coffee for a while but that sounds good.

Did anyone see that Fiat on NBC's coverage of the Olimpics this morning?

It runs on hydrogen.

The fellow form fiat didnt say what the prototype cost but if weare to use that technology, I think the Government must lead the way, build the fueling stations and buy the cars for government use on a scle that not olny introduces hydroben cars but advances them to where the puplic can affornd them.

That os bring back the steam car.

Spanky, great new stuff, looks like Marxes tin cobow stuff. Should work great with you Generals.

Colin tell us what you learned at Church this morning.

laz 57 what is that curling abaout, loooks like shuffle board but the wrongs have the stick.
Where is the game from and what is that sweeping the ice about? How does that work for the rock?

Blueberry Hill...have you been ill? Gain weight being a good thing I wonder.

You have a good Lord's Day today.

Rest and beat the cold.

God loves and I am try ing to also.:D

A blonde lady calls 911 to report that her house is on fire.
"How do we get there?" asks the dispatcher.
The blonde replies, "Well, duh! In the firetruck, silly!"

laz,

I just finished watching the USA women's curling team lose a close match. They were up 2 going into the final end when the other team scored 3 on the last rock to win. It was a tough loss. Currently watching the USA hockey team. They are in a tight game with the Swedes.

I need to call Buckeye in a few minutes and see how his skiing is going. I hope I don't find him in the emergency room! I have to find out if we will be able to get together later this afternoon or evening.

It's cold here today but the sun is out.

Have a good day.

The last time we tried to introduce someone of our age to skiing after about an hour and a half she and my wife spent the rest of the day in the lodge sampling wine. Needless to say they both slept all the way home. [(-D]

HI GIZ,
22 right now in Millersburg,Pa.
To get to 30?

CHIEF hope the BUCKEYE video is as good as it was last year?
Lots of new GIZ on here so he's got some work to do?

TOM love the Saloon.
And the chick in front.

Conga DARINJ on the 2 star General.

STEVE FRAME just like shuffle board but better.
I watched the USA chicks today also and it was a tough loss.
The brooms are used to make the ice smoother so you get more speed on the rock. If you noticed when the rock hits an opponents rock in order to remove it from the house they are sweeping the ice and that gives it a smooth surface to carry it outside. At the same time it also helps to curl the rock to where they want to place it.
The USA GIZ are on today at 4 I think?
They play Great Britian.

GO SLOVAK HOCKEY TEAM! 4-0 beat USA yesterday and Krackestain today.
DOBRE, YAK SE MASH?

TSCHMIDT, CURLING RULES!!!!

All have a good one?

Good morning from a balmy Crystal Lake where it is 10 degrees. Got batteries for the digital camera before they were glommed by the kids for their electronics so hope to shoot some photos for Photo Fun later tonight. Had visitors to the layout last night and wouldn't you know, everything seemed to derail or stop working. At least the 248 and consist ran strong... off to watch Daytona or duck errands for a few more hours.

Laz, should have expected hearing Polish from a PA yankee. I've forgotten all mine since my Grandparents all passed away. I do understand your question, but I'll let the others take a stab at it.

Doug, years ago, more than I want to remember, I was an amature ski instructor for the church ski club I belonged to. Age has nothing to do with it as long as you're physically able. I had students in thier 70's. They were ecstatic when they could snowplow down the bunny slope.

Roger - great photos of your layout in Photo fun today! Thanks for taking the time.

Hello to all the new coffee pot posters! Welcome!

LAZ - very energized by all that curling (12 oz curls that is)!

USA Hockey lost again - bummer!

Daytona - is it a race or a concert? Hard to tell right now.

Great jokes all!

Still cold here - but REBS are holding the line. 31 degrees warming to 33 today!

Have a great one all!
Roy

Regards, Roy

Enjoyed all the pictures today. Someday............. looking to get some layout pictures up.

Doug - Got a feasible plan developed, what a relief! Also checking out the Angel Gate RR club.

We had hail out here this morning, couldn't believe it. So great day to be inside cold outside only suppose to get up to mid 60's

Work on details for layout and watch the race today.

Let's see we are only about 6 months, from our new room being done, so we went and bought a "bar" for it yesterday. What's really peculiar, we hardly ever drink just soft drinks and ice tea. Needed to show everyone here what kind of bar, we would get and ended up bringing it home.

Going to try to get down to the harbor this week. QEII, (Queen Elizabeth II) is making a brief stop for a 1 1/2 hours for a photo shoot with the Queen Mary moored here. Certainly would think they would make a bigger deal out of it, for history sake.

Below is the current concept of our new train layout and room.

Gray area is exterior walls, red track is 72'' mainline, (elevated right side).

Go Tony Stewart ....

I forgot to mention that indeed I would also want to own a 57 Bel Air, a 65 Corvette Stingray, and a lot more, way too many to list. But I will give you the actual manufacturers. Dodge, Chevy, Cadillac, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, a few from the Older Ferrari collection, such as a Dino, a few older Porsches. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, and the rest of the exotic companies would be on my list. Cannot leave out Audi, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, and Maserati.

Been out of pocket a few days and just catching up.

Don, so sorry to hear about your dog. That hurts! Our dogs are like part of the family.

Winter is hanging on in Dixie but at least the frozen stuff is staying up north, where it belongs!

Haven't watched any of the Olympics yet. Just never have gotten into the winter games.

How can you tell if a secretary is a "true" blonde? Check for whiteout on the computer screen.

Another glorious day here in Lower Arnold. Our friends are still in the hospital of course, but their daughter is doing VERY well on the ventilator and is "thriving". Apparently they had a molar pregnancy as well. Maybe somebody can explain it, but there was a partially developed blob of tissue made up of the daddy's chromosomes only, none of the mom's? It was not a baby. But, they have to do all kinds of cancer testing now - apparently there is a high risk of cancer spreading to the mommy from this? I feel so sorry for those guys, they've sure been through a lot this year.

My wife finally got back from scrapbooking weekend retreat and I'm taking my daughter to a Brownie Father Daughter dance.

Cool Layout Don - what program did you use?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Well, has some pluses and some minuses last few days.

1. Learned to play a bunch of songs using my new flute (called a recorder). 3 days ago I didn't know what a note or measure was. Now I can do note: b, a, g, f, e. d, c high, c low, d low, d high, F sharp. About the time I got to F sharp, my $65 recorder cracked at the labia (nasty word for mouthpiece). Well, don't you know! There are more than toy trains filled with electronics that need to be shipped back. This one was a high-end German instrument!

2. I started work on my girder bridge. Cut the wood supports on table saw; banged a 2" dia copper pipe flat with a sledge; prepared HO rails for supporting frame. Well, when I went to solder the HO rails to the copper, the solder just beaded up and fell off. My my! I even sanded both, put flux all over and tried it with the soldering iron, butane torch and even the propane torch. No joy in mudville! (Guess I'll just use body filler to bond it or make a separate post with this if no one notices.)

3. My MTH F-3 diesel will hum the engine sound, beep, bell ring, headlight on. But it won't move. My handheld says BAT. after F-3 (which it does recognize). Well, I left it charging for 8 hours and still no improvement. Perhaps the battery needs to be replaced? Any advice apppppppppreciated.

4. Installed the 50-pound new corrugated industry which doubles as a beagle step leading thru the window. You need to see a picture of this to believe it. I'll try & put one up on Tuesday (if anyone is left still viewing the Sunday foto fun).

Well, that concludes an interesting couple of days!

I have to go to the movies for some stupid reason. I cannot stand my parents right now, they are really making me angry. I am gonna burst out on them if the do not quit with all this stuff they give me to do. The only answer I get from them is "Because we said so."

Tim, For someone's first lesson and assuming one does a few face plants what would be the appropriate wine to go with one eating snow? Red, white or just plain old T'bird.

David, you'll want to buy some clarinet bore oil for your recorder and use a clarinet swab to oil the inside, that will help prevent cracking. A small cigar humidifier (w/water) will also help. NEVER EVER leave it in your car, even for a short time in winter, they love humidity and hate the cold.

Jon

Years ago we played in a recorder quartet and had a great time, still have a bass, tenor and soprano recorder, wonderful instruments with a unique sound.

Jon

So many roads, so little time.

Laz,
Actually the truck is a G-Scale, pretty good runner - but it doesn't pull much. (The paint is in great shape, it does NOT have the pit marks, Have to figure that out.)

Tony didn't have a very good day, but the race was enjoyable! There is nothing like it when you are there! Next weekend...... YES !

Tom, sure like the new additions to your layout. Laz, your layout looks awesome !

Jon,

Instructions call for periodic linseed oiling of the tube inside; but after just 3 days and a crack!

Mine's about 12" so guess it's soprano. Want to learn this 1st and then try bass, but first, got to get me a new one and a quart or 2 of linseed oil; some cork wax, and some advance notes past F sharp! They say the first 2 weeks of the instrument are critical to the wood.

Maybe better luck the 2nd time around!

BTW, my friend plays guitar and bass and when I get good enough, we plan to combo that on his electronic recorder (no relation to flute recorder). Incidentally, never heard of a recorder before (thought it was a tape recorder), but I suppose it's a fancy name for a 2-piece flute).

I'm told that a big bass flute is 49 inches long and a bass is about 3 feet. These are some really kick butt instruments. When practicing the soprano in the basement, the wife and kid 2 floors up can't get no sleep.
