Busy day today. Have to rehab the pool deck. Spent all day digging out the damaged control joint material (plastic of all things and embedded in the concrete so you cannot pull it out). Had to use a brick set as a big chisel to break it through and then used a gasket scraper to break it off the joint walls and then tear it out. Tomorrow I pressure wa***he deck, scrub it with detergents, and then rinse it with the pressure washer. Have a special deck paint for the old style "coolcrete". Once its painted I have to fill all the control joints with a rubberized compound called "Deck-o-Seal". This will probably take me until next weekend to finish it up. The wife has been bugging me about this for about a year, so couldn't hold off any longer.

BTW - did everyone see the comment from Chief yesterday? Did I read this wrong?

"Got to celebrate as I get another year older tomorrow [and hav to attend the wedding ]. "

So if I am not wrong, at least let me offer the Chief my salutations [bday] [bday] before today is officially over (at least for me).

And if I am wrong - what's an extra [bday] wish anyway?

Hope you have a great day tomorrow.
Roy

Thanks Roy. You read it right. BTW: July 15 thru 17 are the dates I will be in Ft. Worth at the Cablea's Grand Opening. Ont he 17th, a big crowd of my fishing buddies are having a brisket smoking there in Dallas. You are invited. Will give you more details later. Good Sunday morning to all. Off to early church [they will probably give me a visitor's card as I have been out of town so many Sundays [;)] ]. Have a good day and God bless all.

Happy Bithday Chief

Was a bit foggy here this morning but the sun is starting to break through. With all the moisture around it should be a terribly humid day. Another good one to be in the air conditioned train room.

Great job Tim. Looks great. What are the concrete looking big things in the parking lot? They to stop the vehicles that slide into the parking lot in the snow?[;)] Might just do more smoke units. Need to light and smoke up that MTH Dash 8 dummy too. Got company coming for evening cookout. Later.

Hello all!

Well this morning started out with massive thunder, lightning, and a tiny bit of rain. Just enough to make it really humid! Hit 93 yerterday and will do so again today - ouch!

PE Tim - nice job on the police station!

Spanky & Jerry - nice pics in the Photo Fun!

Jerry - looks like a fine layout and congrats on the truck! My first car was a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere with the 273 solid pushrod V-8. A great runner. My second car was a 1970 Plymouth Satellite (same body as the Roadrunner) with a 383 (6 miles to the gallon - I still have my mileage book - gas ran from $0.09 to $0.28 per gallon in Houston in those days due to the constant gas wars between the local stations).

Chief - I should be in town when you are here, so let me know as you get more details! I will break out my $10 Zebco rod and reel! (hey - it works and who cares if you or your kids drop it in the lake!).

Buckeye - glad to hear the damage was minimal. Did you have them break it up into some firewood for you? Thats what I do when we have one cut down or trimmed.

It was good to see Elliot's layout progress. It will be a very cool layout when he gets it done!

Hope your weekend has gone well for all!

Happy Birthday Chief. May you have many more.

Had a brief thunder shower this morning. Hardly enough to get the ground wet though. Did a little more layout work yesterday and this morning. I am working on a ravine for my truss bridge. I spent a lot of time gathering stones and washing them. Here is what it looks like so far minus the truss bridge.

How observant of you Chief. Yes thats exactly what they are for. That and also to protect the handicap ramp.

Roy, Sounds hotttttttttttt, sorry I don't miss the Houston weather. I do however miss TEXAS. As they say it is "Like a whole nother country" Its currently 51 and raining. low of 42 this morning. This is a little unusual for this time of year.

The new SD 40 SPSF is a teriffic engine, running it and the Camelback this morning. Good rainy train day....Tim

I'm back! And just in time to heartily wi***he Chief a great birthday! Missed you all - on the drive back somewhere in the wilds of western North Carolina I heard a neat positive story on model railroading on NPR - the reporter visited Sam Posey's layout - see http://weekendamerica.publicradio.org/programs/index_20050604.html

Also, did you see the new flavored Bacardi TV commercial with the bottles set up like a train going down the track - it begins with a signal changing color and the track switching - looked just like a Marx layout - BTW, it rained every day we were at the beach but we went anyway when it was cloudy. It was warmed here in Chicago - sigh. Now back to trying to catch up on 1,000 work emails - I have been tasked to go to a educational tech conference in Las Vegas on Tues for the rest of the week - never been there -have you? Not sure I'm happy about it or not...

Chief, how was your fishing in Illinois over Memorial day weekend?

LAZ, I knew I could count on you not to read the "whole" story. [:D][:D][:D] It was a four man, best ball scramble. The eagle was made on a par five with a 25' chip shot.

Went to YE OLD MILL tonight for supper and some of their famous Velvet Ice Cream. It is now officially summer in Ohio.

Happy Birthday Chief--sure beats the alternative!

Just back tonight from a big weekend of traveling to Nort Dakota don't cha know! A nephew's wedding, man oh man is it flat up dere! They've hade enough rain, one of the local's told me it's like pouring water on your kitchen table, no where to go. GOOD to be home and in our own bed, I hate motels. Nort Dakota (don't cha know) gives a new meaning to no road budget appropriation.

Morning gang. Got the pickups installed in the MTH dummy last night [real easy]. Smoke unit will fit with just a little bit of room. The inside of that shell is tight. Grass to mow to day. Had a good shower yesterday PM. Things will grow now. Got early meeting with developers at Town Hall. Tom, be sure that you inform all the Ohioians that shoes are NOT required. If you don't, no one will attend the gathering. [;)] Have a good day and God bless all.

I know where that Famous Dave's is, Chief. The B-B-Q can't compare to what you're probably used to - Glad you enjoyed your visit. I enjoyed driving to South Carolina - through IL, IN, KY, TN, and NC -- what a beautiful country. Enjoyed 'real' grits and biscuits and gravy down there. Finally cut the grass in the rain last eve - it was still barely light out - my neighbors think I'm nuts - but it was really tall and I was afraid to leave it until I get back again... Congrats on another year, Laz - no rest here - Summer quarter begins next week!

Good morning all from "balmy" N Texas where the humidity and temp are high and so is the AC bill! [oX)]

Xena, Karen [#welcome] - Go to E-Bay and type in "Marx ride on train". I got 3 hits and they were running about $40-45 with several days to go in the auctions. E-Bay is a good way to get an idea what something may be worth. I say "may" as you never know - the next one up could go for half of the last one, with all conditions being the same.

PETim - hope the rain is helping your drought that you have been in up there for several years.

Jon - welcome back. I also hate hotels. I always seem to get the family of 6 above me that never put their kids to bed until they pass out at 2 or 3 in the morning.

Laz - all that Buckeye worship is gonna get you on the Chief's bad side [:-^]

Have a great day all!
Roy
