Greetings Folks,

I have a feeling that the star rating system is a bit too trigger happy. I know I read on one of the threads that someone left less than five stars without meaning too. It would be nice if it double checked with the person rating if they were sure that was the rating they wanted to leave, something like the preview option we have when we post.  The Pre War Flyer picture thread carried 5 stars for more than a year and then all of a sudden it lost a portion of a star. But it also happened after some newer members to the forum might have posted.  I can take or leave the star system.  I usually form my own opinon of a thread or a posting, and I have noticed that most folks who do post aren't afraid of sharing their opinions.  Wink.

Edit:

Yikes!!  I just tried to add a 5 star rating and it looks like it dropped to 4.  If it did, my apologies.  Talk about sticking my foot in my mouth.

Windy!!!! and cold.  Someone "slithered" in again and voted the POT down.  Was on 4 3/4 stars this AM.  I am going to use the LAZ words, IGNORE IGNORE.  Think we should quit voting stars and that will kill "its" fun. Whistling  Off to ship the traveling gon to 88.  Waiting to see who and what will come from Rich that traveled to his layout.  Later.

I agree, Chief.....That " star " rating system means nothing. They should just remove it completely from all threads. We can just reply to a thread and tell the person, who posted, that we like it.

GregM.....I hate to be the bearer of bad news to these guys, but you hit the nail on the head.

The show has just begun.  Soon these guys will be pining for the good old days when the issues were simple, far less expensive, and infinitely less emotionally draining.  Every time they think they have gotten over the hump, it will start all over.  Big Smile  I have come to believe that the cause of grey hair and male pattern baldness is NOT heredity.  It's environmental.

Chief, I renew all my hobby magazines by phone.  Very easy and no problems so far.

Morning all, this talk about snow all the time makes me wonder if you guys live at the North Pole.  What happened to Global Warming?  Some say that the whole thing is not true.  Maybe polar ice is melting but I suppose it could be colder somewhere else in the world like Snohio.

Afternoon all!

Mike C:  Great to see you here!  Great news about the first shadow!  Continuing in prayer for you.

Charlie:  I close the deck lid too.  Everyone has to lift something.  Paper gets installed to run over the top, right?

Doug:  I grew up playing the clarinet, and played bass in and after high school.  Made a demo as bass player, with a band and was offered a part in another band that was touring nationally, but turned it down to go to school.  I still have everything, but no time to play.  Girls should be old enough for piano soon, and I will be able to practice with them!

Greg:  Continuing to pray for some work for you!  Hang in there.

Patrick:  Just wanted to say hi, just in case you're still around!

Tax papers organized and tallied!  We have ours done.  He seems to find more than he charges.

Good Morning

Yep it's cold. tomorrow too.

Charlie my feeling about the seat has always been, if you need it you should check to see where it is. How many times have you fallen in? not many I'd bet, because you look first. At least the seat was dry.

Went grocery shopping this morning, wife picked a nice cold day couldn't wait till thursday when it suppose to be warmer. Still coughing from the cold air.

No trains yet, maybe, maybe not.   S.J.

I agree, very cold this morning.

Went to library Monday night to return a book and a Fine Woodworking magazine.  Checked out a book on the B&O railroad.  Has some interesting pictures and maps.

Watched Extreme trains last night as I had missed most of the Acela episode when it first aired.  kinda strange to bounce between steam loco maintenance and the Acela high balling up the NE corridor.

Have everything to do taxes but can't seem to get enthusiastic about it.  Feel I will have to pay this year, not good.

Jim, check your PM's.

Sturgeon-Phish

Good Morning all from Snowy Southern Ohio!

It is beautiful outside!  The grandkids stayed over last night and school was cancelled today so we have lots of company.  The boy and I went out scraping walks and we went around the block scraping neighbors off too.  We ran trains last night for a while and had lots of fun.  Lots of posting on the pot lately.

Cheif - It would seem the contractor is responsible for work done by a subcontractor; what is hard about this?Sigh

May God bless

Jim

Jim,

Ever have Home Depot contract out work for you?Banged Head It's like buyer beware!!!SoapBox

I tried to get a roofing estimate from Home DEpot and they were $5000.00 more than most other contractors wanted!

Good Morning,

Orange juice almost frozen on orange trees! Currently 55 at 9:55am, going to be down to freezing tonight in West Palm Beach FL!!!  BRRRRRRRRR!  You can send that northern weather back where it comes from, back to the North Pole!!  Have to use the heater in the house, yes they do install air conditioning with reverse cycle heating this far south because of the chance of a cold blast from the north every now & then. Miami FL may not have heating in their air conditioning as they usually don't get below 40 in the winter.

Went to scrap metal and got $2.50 for all the stuff I took, two brake rotors and some copper pipe scrap. cnw1995, you are correct in that scrap metal prices are really low!!

Morning all. Freakin' cold again. It's 7 so with the breeze, feels like 22 below. Ugh. Supposed to warm tomorrow. We'll see. At least no snow.

I think I have most of the wiring issues worked out. When I was experimenting with running back three engines into their house tracks, I noticed one would activate when the switch on the Selector was pushed for another track so I've done something wrong there. I also disconnected the wires to the homemade turntable until I could find a better way to feed them through the bottom. It's easier to move the engine on with power, then spin it and help the engine off by hand, then power it again.

DJ, what instrument did you play in your band days? Anyone else here play anything?  I can still play flute I learned in H.S.

#1 Never do business with Home Depot.  Been having carpet problems for 4 years and they keep trying to pass the buck.  Never been right.  They are wanting us to fight with their contractor over poor installation.

#2 If you want to renew your subscriptions to CTT and Trains, you have to have the mailing label.  Who keeps the mailing labels on their magazine?  [the reason they are held on with rubber cement is so you can remove them]  You have to have the renewal code on the label even though they have your info on your online account.  DUH

Good Morning From Blueberryhill....

It is a cold 15 degrees. About an inch of snow left on the ground. A few flurries today with a high of only 27.

Today, I have a few errands to run. Then some paprwork to do. Maybe I'll get down to train room, later this afternoon.  Not much else new.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Mornin' Fellas.

Well I've finally buckled down and decided to trim some inches from the CAT tire I've been carrying around my mid-section. Started doing Isometrics two days ago and I got the best night sleep last night I've had in months. I know it is all in my mind, but I think I may have lost a little tire. Smile

Mike - Keep a positive outlook and things have a way of working out. That was what I told Susie-Q when her company started having problems back in December. They cut her hours and salary in half, so she only went in 2 days/3 days on a rolling schedule. The first day she was home she applied to 10 positions. Within 2 weeks she has 2 interviews. Within a week of the last interview she had an offer. She is starting her new job on the 17th. I could tell you stories about all this that would make your head spin... a few years back when I was going through something similiar I came to the realization that I had to stay positive, if I started going negative it was a nasty downward spiral and prospective employers could pickup on that negativity. So I started hanging out with family and friends I had been neglecting because my ex was a self-centered, control freek who didn't want me doing anything but spending money on her and being alone... after we split I really started to feel better dropped 45 lbs and landed one of the best jobs I've ever had. Then 2 months later I met Susie-Q via eHarmony. Then 5 months later I moved to Bal'more, and I've never been happier. Call it luck, fate, whatever - but I feel it is more because I stayed positive. SmileThumbs Up OH - biggest lesson learned - no matter what, your real friends will be there for you through thick or thin (I think I speak for all here when I say "We are glad you have stuck around").

MORNING.  YANKS DRIVEN BACK.  REB ARMY DRIED OUT THE AIR.  SNOHIO NEVER MADE IT TO THE GROUND!!!!

Happy day in Rebdoum.  No shohio except the original dusting.  Weatherperson at 11:15 PM said that we were to get the brunt of the storm and up to 6 inches.  Never made it to the ground here in Roseyville.  May have west and north of us.  Really don't think so.  Have not turned on the news to see.  Just got up from a long winter's nap. Cold today but back to 70 by Sunday.  Have a good one.  Think I will drive up the street and get a vanilla cream filled.  Have a good one buried in the snohio. Whistling

PS: Mike C [posted when I did], will keep your job thing in our prayers.  See it works.  God bless.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the plus single digits.  Had almost 6 inches of drifting Snohiozo last night.  Glad we could send some of it to the Chief as we don't want him to miss out on those delights of winter!!!  One of the three shadows hanging over my job was lifted yesterday.  One may go away in February, but the last one won't be determined until the end of May.  I did very little last night, went to bead early and slept well.  Roads were good driving today.  I had the uusual fare on the dining car car this morning for breakfast.  I hope everyone has a good day.  GregM, amen to your comment!  Brutus, the beacon will be lit tonight.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

 Morning to All,

Saw my buddy Bob yesterday at a training session and congratulated him in person on having his photo published in the March CTT. His daughter is getting married in August and he commented that he was going to take the royalty check from the photo and put it toward the wedding. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Another late night last night, did not get home until 8:15 or so.  Makes for a late dinner etc.  That's two nights in a row.  Would be 3 nights, but we have another $%&*@#  SNOW DAY.  School is closed.... Now I have to reschedule the meeting that was to be held tonight.  Still have to go to work because I have a training session for teachers that I am responsible for scheduled for tomorrow. I will wait until daylight before I venture out.  At least then I can see where I am slipping and sliding. I don't mind driving in the snow but most local drivers have no idea how to drive in snow and local road crews were caught off guard so roads have not been treated.  At least I won't have to stay late tonight.

Had eggs, scrapple and toast on the Dining Car this AM.  Scrapple is a local PA Dutch concoction made from the left over bits from a butchered hog, they take everything but the oink, cook it, grind it up, mix it with flour and spices and then form it into a little loaf which is sliced and pan fried.  Mmmmmm! Not the healthiest thing but tasty.

Take care,

Mitch

Oh dear!

They are screwing around again, it's taken me several days to find my way back.

I've had four very enjoyable years with you folks but I am fed up of being messed around by big K.

So it's e-mails only from now on although I have just installed SKYPE and purchased a web cam. So if you can stand my ugly fizzog it may be very interesting!

I may have a dip into the Pot (if I can find it?) occasionally.
