Wow, Mike is back.  We really don't care about him, we just love the words from th sausy winch. Whistling

Jon, you did not read me right.  The folks were from Ohizo and did not want to move back.  The contractor he was working for is taking all the funds for rebuilding power stations in Ioway and blowing the funds while not fixing them.  We definitely do not want you in NC.  Got too many pig farmers as it is. Laugh

Ribbon cutting and Town Board was great.  Did not actully get to eat dinner until 10:30.  Watched the news and then the back side of my eyelids.  Off to bed.

Let is snow on Ohizo and PA, let it snow. Big Smile

Good Evnin', Ya'll, from Frigid Taxachusetts,

Seems like all you guys from points West of here are sending me another 6"-12" of snow on top of our single digit temperatures, flakes beginning Wednesday AM.  Time to get more gas for the snowblower.  At least it will take care of all the yellow snow created by the the puppy whose squirter is really cranking it out.

MikeC......if you pull out of posting on the Pot, we will all take a road trip, camp out on your front lawn, and embarrass the cr_p out of you in front of your neighbors until you surrender.  Cleaning up the empty beer cans will take you 6 months.  The sun always comes up tomorrow.

Brutus......glad you are feeling better but not so glad the little ones got your crud.

DougDG......my Ariens snowblower WILL shoot the doggie doo doo into the neighbor's yard!

Mitch.....belated Happy B-Day.  I was sorry to hear about your wife's Grandma.  Prayers, brother.

Chief......had to laugh about what happens when women named Pam get puppies.  I am the one getting up at 3AM when Maximus decides he needs to tap a kidney.  Standing on my deck in -4 degrees in my pajamas waiting for the dog to do his thing is not my idea of fun, though it has brought my singing voice up a few octaves.  Keep up the Reb Razz re the Northern weather and your likely to receive one of those dry ice cold packs filled with yellow snow, fresh from Taxachusetts.  I'll even throw in some of the #2 product for good measure.

Rich/anjdevil......hang in there.  Prayers.

Don......liked that perspective you posted on the BIG GUY and life's challenges.

Dennis.......I totally disagree with you and your position on socialized medicine.  It works perfectly fine in other countries......until folks get really sick.  Desperate folks that can afford it come here.  The rest are SOL, and I've got relatives in the UK with the horror stories to prove it.  Queing for major surgery is the norm.  If the good ole US of A could reform our jurisprudence system that currently makes it fair play to sue for any and everything (without consequence), if we went to a single payor system, and if the capital equipment was utilized 24/7, we'd see a drop in insurance costs.  Treatment protocols that sometimes are as much administrative-driven CYA as they are true treatment necessities would be yanked from the process and reduce costs further.  And the Docs wouldn't have to work 3 months a year just to pay for their malpractice insurance premiums.  On the topic of SLR cameras, what Nikon bodies do you have?  I've got an FTN and an F2.

SirJames......sorry to hear about your SIL.  I've been in your shoes.  But this too shall pass, one way or another.  It angers me that a trillion dollars is being thrown at our economic mess, orchestrated by many of the knuckleheads who got us into it, with inadequate independent third party monitored checks and balances as to how the money is spent.

Laz and DougM.......I was looking at Chuck's avatar and he looks just like Jake Plissken without the eyepatch.

Jon.......the economic mess has been a shot in the arm for the downhill ski venues closer to my neck of the woods where folks can drive to the slopes, get in a day of skiing, and return home without an overnight.

Greg.......I'm with you.  We need to live long enough to torture our kids for an extra decade or two.

Later Gang,

Jack

Good to see you stopping by Mike. After reading ten pages you had better get a "Super Big Gulp" from the pot I'm sure you'll need it.

Good evening all,

It is snowing in SE Indiana.  First of all, I am overwhelmed by the support.  I have received many e-mails and I just read the last ten pages of the pot.  Thank you.  It will be a long time before I know for sure what my situation is.  Fortunately today was a very good day, and you can't keep a good Irishman down forever :-)  (or even a bad one, for that matter).  Thank you again for the support.  I had the usual fare on the dining car this morning.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Alright, I'm in for pulled porked sammiches and banilla!  School is already cancelled for tomorrow and it's my turn to stay home, so I'll be hanging with the kids.  Daughter is getting over a cold, so no playing outside for her tomorrow.  Snow and sleet and a little freezing rain, but it was 10 degrees windchill, 19 regular, so it must have been one of those warm things from LA coming up the river earlier keeping it from being snow?  This happens to us a lot.  Light, fluffy snow now - that's okay, we know how to move that stuff around here!  I might put the first load in the Tardis in a little while and do a trial dump over that lake house Buckeye sent me directions for Mischief

SP - never had Rock and Rye but I have heard that song, a long time ago?  Also, I think they were drinking Whiskey and Rye the day the Music Died, right?

Feeling 100 percent better today, guess it was a bug.  Thanks for all the good wishes guys.

Laz - Snake Plissken is an outstanding character!  They filmed that movie here in St. Louis back in the day before they did so much renovation and demolition.  That fight with the board/nail in the head was filmed in the old Union Station, before they cleaned it up and turned it into a shopping center.  It's about 200 feet from where I work, lol!  I had a friend I worked with back then who hired on as an extra and is supposedly in the background in some scene popping up out of a sewer.  Also, a lot of the guards from the old Defense Mapping facility where my Dad worked were in that movie as extras too.  Addrienne Barbeau was super hot in that movie!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening all!

Brutus:  Got you covered.  Pulled pork sandwiches on home made rolls!  Beacon is lit!

More work on the UCS's.  Found a bad one.  Spent some time trouble shooting the slow spots in the tracks.  May need to add ground wire feeders at between the BTB switches.

Buckeye--

Dang it, all of the snow is going south (Missery aka Missouri) sorry Brutus.  We do need to catch a break.

Chief--not to worry about my feelings, we will never move from here unless youngest son ever gets married and has Grandchildren........ at that point I think we would move NORTH to be between both of our sons.  The very best option though is to take 8 weeks and spend that time at St. Thomas, VI in Jan. & Feb. Cool  Any one else want to join us?  If I'm going to move south, it will be VERY south and not worry about ice storms and no power, Chief?  No reason for a generator in St. Thomas in Jan. & Feb.  But the bottom line is, we will simply stay here and enjoy every minute of midwest weather and our children all year long Smile

Hi Guys,

Just got home from work and the spade connectors I ordered for the fastrack came in.  They work perfect.  It has a crimp on end that looks like it would easily take up to a 14 gauge wire.  I bought 50 and wont need that many.  Let me know if any of you would like some.

Gang, let management work through this slow server thing.  I can tell you, I don't think Carl and I know Bob would no let anything happen to the "Pot" without a fight.  Give them some time.  BTW: if you have dialup, everything is slow.

GLAD TO SEE THE YANKEES ARE GETTING THEIR DUE!!!  More cold and snhio the better.  Freeze them DEEEEEPPP and pile them up with snohio.

True story:  [Jon will like this one]  lady on Parks and Rec Advisory Board is from Ohio.  They moved here a couple of years ago [say they would NEVER go back].  He is electrical engineer.  Came home from Ioway for the weekend.  He is on contract with a contractor.  Got call he was laid off.  He was expecting it.  Seems the major contractor is rebuilding damaged power stations in Ioway after the floods.  Wasting tons of fed and sate funds.  She says blowing them.  Finally got shut down.  Contractor should be put in jail.

Well ribbon cutting done and reception over.  Now to Town Board meeting.

Later.

Jim, thanks for the kind words regarding the movie and for the plug....It was a labor of love.  I think we will begin work on the next project in the next couple of months.

Was a fantastic afternoon.  Was done early and home before 5pm.  Went outside with the wife and kids and played on the swings set.  Wore shorts!  It must be in the low to mid 70s.  Sorry for all those in Northern climatesLaugh

We are planning on a Fireproof movie night, complete with popcorn.  Got to get on it soon as I have a very challenging case in the morning and better get plenty of rest.

Based upon an article on mens health I found on another train forum, Karen says I will live to be ninety.

As for this thread causing problems, how come other forums can have threads over 1000 pages long without slow response times?

Good Afternoon form snowy Southern Ohio,

They are already starting to close schools for tomorrow!  They are predicting more snow over the night so driving into work will be exciting to say the least.

Dennis – Bride and I watched the movie and we loved it.  Ever bit as good as Facing the Giants or better!  I am giving the homily (sermon) this weekend and I may be able to work a plug in for the movie.  I HIGHLY recommend it for all married couples.  The movie shows very clearly how important it is to maintain our priorities.  I think the folks doing the acting were very good in their roles.  Great Job!  I am going to buy some more to give away and recommend that all the couples going through marriage prep watch the movie.

Jim F – Glad you are feeling better.

May God bless

Jim

The Coffee Pot is about the only thing I read on this forum.  I would miss it a lot if they took it off.

Ray

The sugestion wasn't to do away with it . It was to give it its own forum. If you go to some of the other sections they have 2 - 4 different forums with different items per forum.

Now to me maybe put SPF and coffee pot in one as they both use a lot but on the other hand I prefer the way it is as I do like to jump from subject to subject in the fron of the forum and read the different idea.

We haven't been to the ski slopes for quite a few years either, I think when the knee pains started to outweigh the enjoyment it was time to put 'em away. Besides, when the daughter grew up and out on her own my remaining ski buddy, SWMBO, was a hazard to ski with. No visible marks and bones generally heal well. Black Eye Clown

My biggest gripe was spending a small fortune on lift tickets just to stand in long lines for what seemed forever. Then we wised up and never went on or just before any kind of holiday. Going to Park City it seemed to work best by arriving on sunday evening and departing on friday morning. Something that kinda peaked my interest but never got around to trying was the Telemark skiing, but I always found it difficult to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Expecting a delivery today, picked up another little trinket for Halloween 2009.

Brutus, did you ever hear a jazz tune called "Floating Down That Ole Green River"? The next line is "on the good ship Rock & Rye".  That's what your post made me think of.  It's a song about some guy telling this fantastic story to appease his wife as to his whereabouts.  He gets "Stuck on a bar tied to the mast watching schooners go past"  It concludes with "I had to drink that whole Green River dry to get back home to you".  Ah yes, reminds me of my wild and wooly days.  Now the strongest thing I drink is Sprite.  Have a good day y'all.

Mroning All!

Brutus:  Hope you're feeling better.

Out yesterday...Church audio and video, (yes, at the same time) yesterday am.  Sister in town to cellebrate Christmas, and 2-yo birthday, then off to a friends's house to celebrate 2-yo's birthday again...Sheesh!

BiL and I watched the DVR'd coal train episode, and played with trains a bit.  I think I have him hooked.  He used to build dioramas, and wants to get back into it.  We discussed uses for found objects, like chip brush bristles for cattails.  The women folk mused that they would save haircuttings, just for us.  Why are they unhappy when we spend $$ on this stuff, and are still unhappy when we find ways not to spend money on it.

So Whadddidimiss?  Looks like I just missed on the blue puddle jumper...Outbid by a nickle.  DOH.  That would have made a good toy for the girls to play with in the driveway, next to the old refrigerators, and washers in the front yard.  Looks like it went to the lucky bidder fron Snohizo.

Congratulations Pennsylvania!  Looks like you won the Guantanamo Bay lottery!  At least in your Governor's eyes.

Kurt
