Hi Penney_Fan,

Because of the amount of pictures being posted, we have been doing a new thread each week with that Sundays date. If its all on one posting, it would take way to long to load with dial up.

Please join the fun with posting some pics. We normally will have the thread call something like ‘Sunday Photo Fun 4-18-04’.

I have already made my pics for posting.

Hi Craig,

I got the building of the shelves down pat by now. It helps with a radial saw and buying good lumber. It takes about 6 hours for each section.

Craignor, I really like your layout, it has a classic look as if it could have been in a 1950s Lionel Catalog. JIM

big boy, (how) are you going to "hide" the helix?

I hope to build one in a year or two, under the table leading to additional on-line storage.

Marty,

Thanks.[:)]

Yes...the new finished basement room makes a world of difference compared to the dungeon it was before.

Now, I have heat, a powder room (I call it the Doghouse...hehehe), recessed cans with dimmers, 2 recessed banks of flourescents on a seperate circuit with a on/off switch, wall to wall carpet, a storage room for our junk, a drop ceiling, and its clean down there to boot.

We took a lot of junk to good will when preparing for the job. Its unbelievabe how much junk one acquires, and why we keep it.

The layout is much quieter now.

The racks are great...they are Railrax, $16 per 6 feet, they were easy to put up. The racks are nice because they show the trains off, and are somewhat unobtrusive in doing so.

I want to get some railroad related art for some of the walls, and a couple more bar stools, and I will be pretty much done.

There are some open spots on the layout that I left open on purpose. I will fill these with either scratch built buildings or buildings I see that catch my eye.

The main problem I am having now is that both of my boys, 2 and 7, want a consist of their choosing running at one time...I only have two loops. So, Daddy does most of his runnng after bedtime. I should have made three loops!

Oh well. These are good problems to have I suppose.[:)]

Folks,

I just discovered a cool feature of this forum...put you cursor on one of my pics and click it...it gets enlarged...thats cool.

I tried it with others...some do and some do not. Its is probably because I loaded a pic that was 600x400 pixels, and the forum resized it to half of that. But its cool to have the option of enlarging and getting a closer view on some of these pics.[8D]

I bet the nice bright clean room makes a worls of difference in running and being in the train room.

Looks great Craig. I'd love to have some nice shelves like that!

Craig

I'd like to see a shot of your newly finished trainroom. We got a little teaser in an earlier photo but do you a have a wide shot?

Amtrak Jack,

I like the looks of your trainroom, especially the M 10,000. What do you think that is worth now?

Spanky,

I bet alot of work went into those shelves...they look great, as do the steamers![:)]

I personally would prefer if we picked a day and stuck to it...It always gives me something to look forward too and gives everyone a chance to get the photos for the week. But that's just me, I'll go with the flow!

Hobo,

Yes, we will do this every Sunday.

I will start it, or anyone else can too.

Also, this can be done anytime anyone feels the spirit move them.

I think sharing pics is one of the best feautures of the forums. "A picture says a thousand word"...its true!

Riveter,

Thanks for the nice comments on the Acela cab ride pic on my website.(I posted it below). My family was going up to NYC to see the Radio City Christmas Show. It was my son's first time to NYC, and his first Acela trip. After we got moving, I was fortunate to meet the engineer, and ask him for a cab ride, even more fortunate for him to agree, and really lucky to have a camera with me.

We got up and walked through the engine as it was moving, then stepped up into the cab, and closed the door, ahh silence, and warmth. The engineer let Drew sit in the fireman's seat, and we had a nice chat as we moved North through Philly, and picked up speed until we were going over 100 MPH.

It was our first cab ride. I don't know who was move excited my son Drew, 7, or me 39.[:)]

An unforgettable experience for Drew and I...eternal gratitude to the engineer![bow]

Here is the pic:

Hi guys,

If any of you have hi-resolution versions of your layout photos you are welcome to send them to CTT to be considered for our "Photo Album" section, which features film or digital photos sent in by readers. For magazine reproduction the digital photos must be taken with a 3.3 megapixel or better camera at the highest settings (most memory). They can be JPEG or TIFF files. Also, they should be unaltered (no sharpness correction, etc., etc.).

Anything less then these specifications means we can't enlarge and reproduce the photo on a magazine page without it becoming excessively grainy.

The photos, just like film photos, need to be taken with good lighting and the foreground and background must be in focus.

We have a separate email box for submissions to Photo Gallery. It's photoalbum@classictoytrains.com, or you can snail-mail us a CD or disk. Make sure to include your name and contact information, and please label the photo files if you can. (Sometimes people send us a CD with 30 unnamed images, which can be a pain; it's better just to send 2-3 of your best).

Thanks,
Neil Besougloff
editor, CTT

These trains were recently mailed to me from my parents - and are my dad's old trains. He's suffering from Altheimers (sp). Three of four of the engines worked right out of the UPS box. They were refurbished by Madison Hardware sometime in the 80s. There's also an RW transformer, a prewar Gateman and three bridges.

craignor, thanks for starting up this fun weekly thread!

Big Boy, your helix (if that's what it is) reminds me of the framework of the Flying Turns at old Euclid Beach in Cleveland.

Yes, that is a helix, 10' in diameter. I'm guessing that the "Flying Turns" is a ride, and "Euclid Beach" is an amusement park. Sorry, I've never been to Cleveland.[;)]

By the way, why does this have to be a Sunday thing? We should do this EVERY DAY, and twice on Sunday!!!![(-D][(-D][swg]
