Folks,

I thought it may be fun to open a regular weekly place for CTT Forum members to post photos of their layouts, projects, railfan shots, whatever as long as its train related.

If you all like this, in the future anyone can start this on any day, and call it what ever you want. I just wanted to get the ball rolling.

So post em if you got em!

My pics:

A Western Maryland H-9 Consolidation hauling freight by the tower. BTW, thats me on the top of the stairs waiving, me peering out the fireman's side of the loco cab, and me in the caboose too![8D]

Bringing up the rear of this all boxcar freight is a small Western Maryland bobber caboose. It didnt come with a crew. This weekend I removed a Fireman from a Geep, and glued him on the chair in coupala of the bobber. A quick and dirty, yet satisfying little project.[:)]

Here are the pics:

As soon as the white glue dries, I'll do the first pour of Envirotex Lite...since this stuff is a catalyzed 2 part mixture, you don't have to limit each pour to 1/8 inch...it cures even at thicker amounts. I like 2 separate pours, every 24 hours, of 1/4". Since the banks are 3/4 ", this leaves about 1/4" to the top of the bank. I also like to tint the envirotex a brown/green color...looks more realistic (to me) than leaving it crystal clear.

This is my "Winter Scene" area - the top is 3/4" styrofoam on top of a 3/4" ply, with another 3/4" styrofoam on the bottom. With the foam roadbed, it is Q-U-I-E-T!!! One advantage of using foam is that you can take a cheap 25 watt soldering iron and cut out the lake contours, then just pry it off of the plywood AFTER it has been glued together. Lotsa options on scenery!

craignor, thanks for starting up this fun weekly thread!

Big Boy, your helix (if that's what it is) reminds me of the framework of the Flying Turns at old Euclid Beach in Cleveland.

I like to slam cars around with this Atlas SW8. It's the only TMCC engine I own, but I want to convert some others.

Yes, that is a helix, 10' in diameter. I'm guessing that the "Flying Turns" is a ride, and "Euclid Beach" is an amusement park. Sorry, I've never been to Cleveland.[;)]

By the way, why does this have to be a Sunday thing? We should do this EVERY DAY, and twice on Sunday!!!![(-D][(-D][swg]

These trains were recently mailed to me from my parents - and are my dad's old trains. He's suffering from Altheimers (sp). Three of four of the engines worked right out of the UPS box. They were refurbished by Madison Hardware sometime in the 80s. There's also an RW transformer, a prewar Gateman and three bridges.

Hi guys,

If any of you have hi-resolution versions of your layout photos you are welcome to send them to CTT to be considered for our "Photo Album" section, which features film or digital photos sent in by readers. For magazine reproduction the digital photos must be taken with a 3.3 megapixel or better camera at the highest settings (most memory). They can be JPEG or TIFF files. Also, they should be unaltered (no sharpness correction, etc., etc.).

Anything less then these specifications means we can't enlarge and reproduce the photo on a magazine page without it becoming excessively grainy.

The photos, just like film photos, need to be taken with good lighting and the foreground and background must be in focus.

We have a separate email box for submissions to Photo Gallery. It's photoalbum@classictoytrains.com, or you can snail-mail us a CD or disk. Make sure to include your name and contact information, and please label the photo files if you can. (Sometimes people send us a CD with 30 unnamed images, which can be a pain; it's better just to send 2-3 of your best).

Thanks,
Neil Besougloff
editor, CTT

Hobo,

Yes, we will do this every Sunday.

I will start it, or anyone else can too.

Also, this can be done anytime anyone feels the spirit move them.

I think sharing pics is one of the best feautures of the forums. "A picture says a thousand word"...its true!

Riveter,

Thanks for the nice comments on the Acela cab ride pic on my website.(I posted it below). My family was going up to NYC to see the Radio City Christmas Show. It was my son's first time to NYC, and his first Acela trip. After we got moving, I was fortunate to meet the engineer, and ask him for a cab ride, even more fortunate for him to agree, and really lucky to have a camera with me.

We got up and walked through the engine as it was moving, then stepped up into the cab, and closed the door, ahh silence, and warmth. The engineer let Drew sit in the fireman's seat, and we had a nice chat as we moved North through Philly, and picked up speed until we were going over 100 MPH.

It was our first cab ride. I don't know who was move excited my son Drew, 7, or me 39.[:)]

An unforgettable experience for Drew and I...eternal gratitude to the engineer![bow]

I personally would prefer if we picked a day and stuck to it...It always gives me something to look forward too and gives everyone a chance to get the photos for the week. But that's just me, I'll go with the flow!

Amtrak Jack,

I like the looks of your trainroom, especially the M 10,000. What do you think that is worth now?

Spanky,

I bet alot of work went into those shelves...they look great, as do the steamers![:)]

I'd like to see a shot of your newly finished trainroom. We got a little teaser in an earlier photo but do you a have a wide shot?
