Well I don't know, Lady Firestorm and I got the J&J vaccine just about a month ago and we're not dead yet. Certainly they want to be careful, but if they think they're going to vaccinate millions and absolutely no-one is going to have any side effects of any kind from the various vaccines in use they're fooling themselves. But what do I know?
Spent two hours cutting the grass and whizzing the weeds then spraying Agent Orange where I don't want things growing. Lady F can smell the Ben-Gay on me from two rooms away. Ow. Ow. Ow.

Spent the day at the clinic for new meds, called out sick, not ready to put up with the crap from work, yesterday.
Afterwards, finished cleaning my room at my house, bed sheets were cleaned Saturday, all vacuumed and dusted. Did all the laundry while making more progress on my Lamp posts in the Christmas Village. Put the Buffalo snow down and looks good, so great progress on that task. Hope to have more done tonight - I'm babysitting Smurf the Wonder Cat and Jenni is staying with me, as the kids are off to FLA USA to visit my Ex.
Had some professional photos done on Sunday, they came out great, will see the results in 3 months, it will be artist portrait quality. Hence, the 3 months. Rained all day, so it really was time well spent.
Grass is too wet to chop it so, that will be done, tomorrow. Maybe after softball practice - which is on, thank you Lord Jesus - I love my softball time. If weather permits, it was cancelled yesterday as the field was soaked because of 2 days of rain.
Fife - I have a brand new in the box Western Maryland set with a GP9, I'll get that up and running as it would be apprpriate for my mainly North East layout...Nice pick up on the WM hopper!!
We're still fighting to keep the State of Solocist New Jersey out of our pockets, it ain't gonna be easy, but all the volunteers and career guys are all on board in opposition to this.

anjdevil - I still need to get it out of here. WM trains actually ran as far east as Rutherford Yard, on the Reading. You could see WM engines on NJ rails, via the B&O and CNJ. CNJ really wanted to merge into Chessie, but got swallowed up into Conrail instead.

Flintlock 76, I have to agree with you. Wife and I got J&J shot at the "Greatest Racetrack in the World" about a month ago and had zero side effects. Any death is tragic, yes, but as you say, millions of shots and only this few deaths (and who knows what other conditions may have been present). You have to wonder if a solution is really desired by the powers that be. Obviously some people, groups, organizations benefit from the status of perpetual crisis. Who knows for sure. Work was ok. Weather was dry. Spent almost 2 hours picking up and raking up sticks in the yard. Will mow tomorrow is weather permits. I hope everyone has a good day.

Fife - Yeah, I remember the history - hence the Blue C & O GP engines we bought from them (with the painted over C & O). History would definitely different if the C & O bought out the CNJ. I believe they wanted the CNJ for entrance to NYC and those markets. Being cahs strapped, the CNJ didn't even have enough money to paint those engines in the Red Baron paint scheme.
Day 2 of training - the plus is that I get out early enough to head to softball practice by 550I have a Zoom meeting at 630, which I might make, depending on timing.Looks good, Spank!!My brother from VA was up so 4 of the 5 siblings were in the house.Jenni stopped by, I made sausage and spaghetti for dinner afterwards, fed Smurf the Wonder Cat, so we all ate together.Another early start for work. The N gauge stuff is a "Cross the bridge when we come to it" situation right now. The thing is, there's literally hundreds of cars in the collection and I'm not sure how many locomotives. "Big B's" going to have to decide what he wants to do with it all, right now it's a "hold fire" situation.
BUT, thanks for the interest and we'll keep you in mind! We just have to wait and see how this plays out.

Mike, I'll tell you I'm not one of those people who see a "Perpetual control conspiracy" going on. What I DO see are bureaucrats who are capable of handling "business as usual" but go to pieces when a crisis hits. We've all seen the "Do this, don't do that" and "Do that, but don't do this" back and forth mind and directive changing over the past year. Reactions, but no pro-actions.
I can understand risk aversion. I'm risk averse myself, for example there's no way I'm going to take up rock climbing, hot-dog skiing, or any kind of extreme sports at my age. There's times in my past when I should have been killed and I'm not going to push my luck, assuming there's any left. But you can't get to the point that risk aversion pushes you into inaction or over reaction.
Does any of this make sense?

Got the first stab today at the drive through clinic. Was supposed to get the J&J but they swapped it to Pfizer when the poop hit the fan yesterday. One of the most organized events I have ever witnessed. Well marked signs, plenty of folks pointing you in the right direction and efficinency was off the chart. Took longer to drive the 10 minutes from work than to get the shot. Waited 15 minutes and I was back in the office in less than 45 minutes if that. Definitely wasn't a government run event.
Sunny and pleasant today, getting colder for the weekend.

Marty, it was the same here, also one of the most organized events I have ever witnessed. They told me they recomend you wait 15 minutes after the second shot but if I had no problems with the first shot I could just leave. I was in and out in under 20 minutes. Side effects on shot two have been worse but not something you can't take, Had chills last night in bed, but mild. Sore arm like the first shot and more body aches with a mild headache this time. So I will lay low the rest of the day.

Good checkup at the oncologist today. Drew some blood for a thyroid check. Oncologist visits now every 3 months so go back in mid-July.
Got the El Cam tranny back together. Took an hour lying under the El Cam to install the hairpin style pivot pin that secures the new TV cable (which fit!)/bellcrank assembly in the transmission valve body - ugh. They certainly made sure it will not back out by accident! Inappropriate words were hurled which made sure things progressed. Got the new filter and pan installed so the continual seeping of transmission fluid is contained. Got a new vacuum modulator from O'Reilly but it is slightly different from the old one and has an adjustment for shift points. Checked with my Chevy dealer and no surprise the part is discontinued. Old modulator is holding vacuum so may leave it in?

Good Thursday Morning!!Made softball practice last night - and that went for an hour - I pitched for a while and hit over on 3rd base. Took 15 hits to the bank, my timing is off, so I hope it comes back. I fully expect to be really sore later today.Season starts in 11 Days. Afterwards, was back in the attic. I put up the control board and will need some 1/2" screws to mount the modern ZW. I sorted out the wiring and replaced 2 lights on the station platform. Next task will be to mount the bricks and a small transformer to a board and see if I can put it on wheels to slide out it if I need to. I'll also be mounting Dad's legacy ZW to the other side of the layout and that may power some small things on the layout (possibly the switches) as a tribute.Jenni and my Sister went dress shopping last night and that was a success. Dinner when she got home (LATE!) and was in be by 1130. Did laundry in between.Good news on your health and good progress on the El Cam, Roy!

Forgot to say Monday night I ran the trains till both ZWs were nice and warm, first time in a ling time, No pile-ups.
Kids are getting their carpet for the new place today and are done cleaning out their old place. Dan only has to remove those Ring camera things and they are done. Wife helped the daughter clean yesterday while I stayed home and relaxed.
They have a nice set of Whirlpool washer and dryer at the new place they want to give us because they just got new ones last year at the old place and want to keep them, Ours are 14 years old so an up-grade to 3.5 year old ones sounds like a deal to me. I will have to switch the dryer to LP gas but that is no big deal.
Hard frost over night, winter wants to hang on!

Daughter and SIL had a successful inspection on the house they are buying. It is about a 20 min drive north of here in a good section of 70's starter homes in Plano TX. The Mrs and I got a quick tour - needs some work but all manageable. Kitchen was redone a few years ago - appliances are staying (lady has owned the house for 40 years and is moving to assisted living) - roof only 3 yrs old - vinyl siding - 2 car garage. 3 bd - 2 bath - Nice size to start out in.
Sounds nice Roy, a lot of those neighborhoods are flipping to young families around here to as the old folks move on. The kids were bidding on a 70s house when they came across the one they got.

Well, at least I got my workout in for the weekend.No trains last night, another late dinner, then off to bed to watch the NY Electric Trains guy. I swear, his prices have gone up. 2046 repainted for $250? I have a MINT one here, I'll let that go for $400.......Received another 3V wall wort for the Spring/Summer Section, I have my shopping list for HD, most likely after work I'll run over there and get my supplies. Saturday, I'll be upstairs after housework at Mom's, then after when Jenni gets in.My brother and SIL will be leaving to go back to TX at noon today.

Mornin' boys. Mostly cloudy and 43 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Weather has been rather cool and damp recently, which has kept us in. I've been working in the train room, trying to craft the new section of scenery. We watched the baby for a bit yesterday, so his momma could get the Wuhan shot. She heads back to the O.R. next week, and she's already dreading the separtation...
Fifepup started a new job as a dockmaster-mechanic, outside of Orlando. He seems pretty happy with how things are going there. I'll be heading down to visit him in a few weeks.
Pesky squirrels are inundating the bird feeder. Woof. Me thinks FifeMax is on the take.
56 degrees and up from Yankee cold 40. Stopped by the house to eat BoJ's biscuits [for Wifey and kids too]. One errand to run after shave and shower.May do coats of Finish First on Caddy. Great polymer coating. Used it for years. Vehicles and boats. JD mower too. Slick. Why everyone comments on the great shape my truck paint is in. Can do in Daughter's garage while babysitting. One more night. Actually Granddogs were great last night. One sleeping on each side of me while I watched Netflix. One on the floor [big dog] where I could rub her with my socked foot.May mow grass. Front yard especially. 34% nitrogen is now paying off. Green and growing.
If I buy a gun in NC, all I have to do is show [they copy] my Carry Conceal permit and fill out the Fed form. Now for handguns, if you don't have a Carry Conceal, you have to go to your local Sheriff's office and get a permit. Right now in Wake Co., takes some time. Sheriff has been sued sevral times and lost over his delaying gun permit approval. Has cost the County tons of money. I believe you should pass a gun safety course and get background checks as I had to do to get Carry Conceal permit [finger printed with local and FBI checks]. Have a good one.
Clouds and cool for late April, only in the 40s now may get to 60 and very dry. We have only had .6" of rain all month on one day. Not helping with the new grass seed.
Saw the deer with only three hoofs yesterday, Good to know it has made it through the winter.

Still cloudy and 48 at the moment - the kind of April/spring weather where the Mrs and I think we should be suiting up in parkas for one of our kid's Saturday soccer games.
The El Cam is off the jackstands and on the ground. Finished the tranny work. New vacuum modulator is in as I found the old one had AT fluid in the vacuum fitting. Put new rubber line on each end of the steel tube from the manifold. Today I will refill the tranny and watch for leaks. Finally got a replacement EGR valve for the new one that was defective - tested it - and installed. Hopefully this resolves my vacuum leak issues.
