Good evening all,
I rarely mention other websites here, but any of you of a certain age (close to mine) should check out Racer. com or AJ Foyt Racing website. There are pictures and a story about the ride for JR Hildebrand for the 500. The paint scheme honors the '61 winning car. As a long time Foyt fan, this a wonderful car, and maybe this year I will be the last one leaving the track......When AJ won it was either in 1 or 14. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
69 and sunny. Redhots for breakfast. Wifey leaving with SisterIL for Wilmington [SIL calls at 7:30 and I was finally getting good sleep with no pain].
Wiley and Lucy to groomer this AM. Finn got his cut yesterday.
Planted 2 tomato plants from greenhouse. 3 More later next week. Also got a hot pepper growing in greenhouse.
Not much on agenda.
Have a great day.

Afternoon all!
Partly sunny and quite warm at 85+...
Working a little bit at a time, I have spent the last couple of days working on the El Cam. The project du jour is dropping the auto trans fluid pan so I can get the the 'jammed' T/V cable (carb throttle to tranny for throttle position - cable moves a piston/actuator) out so I can replace it. To get to where the T/V cable goes into the tranny required pulling the passenger side front wheel well out (did that during the wiring harness rebuild so experienced with it - easy to do). Normally one can pull a single 10mm bolt and pull the T/V cable out of the tranny and and unhook from the link - but the cable (like a throttle cable) is seized up and the link and lever inside the tranny are not beefy enough to allow one to just give a yank on the cable to get the necessary slack. Soooo - this means I have to drop the tranny fluid pan.
Then I slowly started removing tranny pan bolts to let fluid seep out into a pan. If you have ever done this you know dropping the tranny pan (which has no drain plug) is a colossal mess with fluid slopping everywhere. So slow drip to drain some fluid over a 24 hr period. Left 4 of the 13 bolts in place at the corners of the pan. Then I made a couple of wire loops from coat hanger wire and put those onto one side of the pan where the bolts were removed. This makes a 'hinge' so I could then drop the other side and let it swing down into the catch pan. Worked excellent and let me one hand the pan as I took out the last bolt. Now I am working on cleaning the pan which was really caked up (Purple Power!).
The good news - no debris/brass in the tranny pan!
Meanwhile - ordered an AC Delco tranny pan gasket and filter set along with a new EGR valve/gasket from O'Reillys - both of which were supposed to be there in a day - now two days later and should be in this afternoon - waitin' on the call. Normally my local O'Reillys is spot on for same day or next day delivery - but they have called each day to tell me of the delay and why (showed stock at another store but then informed not so - then switched to another store/warehouse.
While messing with the El Cam I have the Mecum Auto auction in Houston on the TV - man - a lot of really nice original, nice semi restored, nice fully restored, and restomod pickups going for $12-20,000 - unbelievable! Normally these guys would be going for $20-35,000+. There are so many of them I guess the market for this auction is saturated.
Regards, Roy
anjdevil2Meeting went well, there is an issue about letting the state control the NJ State Fireman's Home. Once the state gets involved with our money, there will be no more money. This money funds the Home and the burial benefit for those in the Exempt association. I have earned mine and if the state gets in, I'll have nothing.
Holy jeez Devil, keep those incompetants OUT!
Just to show NJ local governance at it's most activist, Lady Firestorm's up in NJ as we speak and just found out our home town of Paramus has banned plastic bags. Nice, so instead of using petrochemicals to manufacture shopping bags they have to back to cutting down trees. Well, the paper industry's going to be happy. Oh yeah, all that plastic floating in the oceans is coming from Asia and Africa and somehow it's OUR fault!
Her brother "Big B" has been having some serious health issues so she's up there handling administrative issues for him in addition to cleaning his apartment, which is kind of a batchelor pad from hell. "A place for everything, and everything in it's place." Yeah, it's place is wherever it landed after the bomb went off! She's got her hands full, cleaning, shredding old paperwork, and not tripping over the piles of N Gauge stuff. I didn't go with her, she said it would be easier if I stayed home and out of the way. I agreed.
Later, gents.
Gentleman, let me direct your attention to PennyTrains thread of:
"The Disneyland Thread fka B.Y.O.B," page 10.
Her mother passed away on the evening of Easter. I'm more than sure she'd appreciate a word from all of you.
Also, on the bottom of page nine she's looking for a home for her Disneyland display. She explains it.
Also,
Roy, good work on the EL Cam!!!
Turned out nice today, Daughter closed on her second house. Went from a duplex to a single family home. Nice. We are proud of her at 33 years. Don't know where she gets it?
Flintlock,,,,,,,,,,,"Oh yeah, all that plastic floating in the oceans is coming from Asia and Africa and somehow it's OUR fault!" Maybe because we send it to them to get rid of it!!! Pontius Pilate syndrome? Hard to wash your hands when it is your dung on them.
Just take a look!

Was supposed to be busy at work. I was....about 3 to 4 hours into the day. Got it mostly done, but some left for Monday. Long story. Had the roof recoated on the shed today just to use some of the material. Also some trim added to the awning. Every thing looks really nice. Weather is hit or miss on the rain. I hope everyone has a good day.
Time to buy a new bird-feeder...
fifedog Time to buy a new bird-feeder...
Well, HE certainly looks well-fed! I'd guess he's getting a lot more than bird seed on the circuit he travels!
Weather stayed dry for grandsons matches today, where both of their teams won handily. Would like to say they contributed, but that would be a stretch. No results from the train show, but it was nice to go. Homily at Mass was very good tonight. Rained the rest of the day. I hope everyone has a good day.
72 and warming fast. Suppose to get real breezy this afternoon. Slept till 8:30. Animals slept later. Wiley was the first to get up and out. Finally got Lucy up and out. Had .3" during the before light rain. Must have blown as cushion in chair on porch was wet.Was going to outdoor Church but animals and batching [Mom and I share duties] it ate up my getting ready time. TV Church.Enjoy the week ahead.
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has a great week.
DJSpankyDear god, watching late night television, it is amazing how many scams there are advertised. Along with the scumbag pieces of garbage, er, sorry, lawyers looking to drum up business.
It used to be considered unethical and unprofessional for lawyers (and doctors) to advertise, other than in the Yellow Pages. You'd get in trouble with your peers if you did.
Those days are long gone.
TV? Aside from "NCIS", the one with Mark Harmon, HGTV, DIY, and NatGeo Wild our TV would stay dark.
When I was a kid growing up in North Jersey we had channels, 2,4,5,7,9,11, and eventually 13. Very rarely did we moan "There's nuthin' on!"
NOW I've got 150 cable channels and most of the time there's "Nuthin' on!" You call that progress?
Thank goodness for the YouTube!
Quiet day today. Weather cooler today. Did some errands and started cleaning the shed. I hope everyone has a good day.
Flint, What they define as entertainment today is a far cry from what it was when people our age were growing up. Almost anything is fair game nowadays. Remember the uproar when Elvis made his first TV appearance.
Remember the Veterans. Past, present and future.

dougdagrump Remember the uproar when Elvis made his first TV appearance.
Uh, only from reading about it, I'm not quite that old!
But I do remember the classic shows from the '60s, too many to go into, but those who were around at the time know just what I mean.
A lot of the '60s sucked, but not all of it.
Evening folks!
Beaut of a day today - 50's to 80's with cool breeze and sunny!
Welp - several projects on the El Cam have gone sidways - new EGR valve defective, parts store working on getting another one in by Tues. The transmission detent/throttle position cable (some call it a kickdown cable) was listed as fitting the El Cam and looked right in photos - but it does not fit - parts store is getting me a different cable by tomorrow noon. Not the parts store fault - the manufacturer lists it as a fit - - - nope...the misfires have set me back several days. Nothing like tracking down new parts for an old vehicle.
Daughter and SIL scored on buying a house - offer accepted - not stupid money - they only looked at 4 places and voila! Contracts and inspections this week.
Hello there, Should be sleeping but wide awake.
Roy.....good deal for the kids. Hope the inspections work out. Spent this week getting ready for the beach. Did a Wallyword pickup and got all the food and clothes in the camper. We all packed except last minute stuff from the house. All ready in case we're down on Tuesday after tomorrow's 2nd Wuhan shot. Supposed to leave Wednesday. Fence repairs put on hold by fishing and rain. All 4 grandkids at an event put on by a local sportsmen club yesterday. Met cousin from Meadeville at the home last evening for a short visit with Mom. Then dinner at a local eatery with her and littlest grandkids. First time in a restaurant in a year. Had hoped for outside seating but to cold. Got there about 4:30 and it was pretty open, starting to fill up when we left. Best get to sleep Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.

Mornin' boys. Overcast and 53 along the Potomac Highlands. Fifedom has a bunch of plants and bushes that need to be planted today. Will probably have to do so between the raindrops. Had a nice weekend, received a new MTH WESTERN MARYLAND covered hopper (S gauge) from oldest princess, a build-a-bear from my sis, and a wonderful dinner from Ms. Kelly. Did more work on new scenery in layout room.
Good racing at Martinsville, after the rain delays.
Mixed signals coming from railyard...
Good morning from a sunny but cool North Bluff,
Busy weekend, had the grand-kids and their dog Saturday so their mom and dad could paint at their new digs.
Roy, they closed on Friday on their new place. You can tell they are excited!
Sunday was moving day one and I stayed behind and watched the kids and cut the grass and let the young guys get it done. Wife and daughter packed and moved all the kitchen stuff, then set it up at the new place. The boys did the heavy things for the downstairs. New carpet for the up-stairs today then the beedrooms will get moved. Wife will help with the clean up of the old place. New buyers already closed on our daughters old place and are waiting to move in so the SIL has a busy week ahead.
Tomorrow is COVID shot 2, will be nice to have that behind me.
Roy, I hate when the do that and you have to jump around to find the right stuff.
Best get, Got to go pick up a screen we had repaired at ACE.
73 and sunny. A little cooler today. Grass to mow [its jumping]. Still babysitting. Wiley barking at 7:30. Lucy woke me at 2 AM to go out and pee. Red hots for breakfast. Dishes washed.
Have a good one.

Very long day. Work was quiet. Decided to go to grandson's first high golf meet. Was supposed to start at 5 but he did not go off until 5 Pm. Should have gotten cart, but walked with him instead. His round of 9 ended a mile from the clubhouse. Drove straight home to reduce after dark driving and thinking Mickeyd's would not be busy. Not only was the line long, but they got my order wrong!!! Ugh. Not my best day ever for sure. I hope everyone has a good day.
Hello there, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mrs DougGot the 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday. Mrs is a bit tired and achey with a touch of nausea. So far the only ill effects I have is a sore arm.Found the seal leaking on the hot tub pump the other day. While replacing it found more issues. The stem pulled out of the gate valves that isolate the heater and pump. Good thing it was already empty. A project for after we get home.Best get moving Prayers for those in need and the end of this pandemic.
Morning all. Being lazy as no farm trip today. Egos with real maple syrup. Now got my ice tea ready for the day. Slept till 8. Physical therapy scheduled for next Monday [earliest appointment]. Not helping now.
Enjoy the day.
Afternoon boys. Sunny & 64 along the Patterson Creek Cut-off. After installing a new plug and air filter in the old Craftsman, got the first big mow of the '21 done. Most of the plants are in the beds, except for the weeping cheery seedlings, as well as the phlox (which I gotta get out of here...).
Well as luck would have it with T-26hours before the J&J vaccination they shut it down. Good news is they are substituting the Pfizer vaccine in it's place. Bad news is now I need to get a second stab. Whatever it takes.
Warming up a bit today then colder tomorrow. Everyone stay safe!
Got the second Moderna COVID shot today. Will be glad to move on!
Going to relax the rest of the day. Got the rest of the west basement wall seal painted yesterday, so that is done.
Not much else.
Sunny and cooler today. 75? 60's starting tomorrow.
Finally got the correct A/T detent/throttle cable yesterday. Will put it in this afternoon. Should have the EGR valve this afternoon and while there will pick up a new vacuum modulator for the tranny since I have all the fluid out. All new parts - should be great - right?
DougM - happy BDay to Mrs DougM!
Inspections tomorrow for the kids house. The Mrs and I will attend so we can see the place in person.
Fife - interesting post - but I bet a lot of folks here do not read Klingon
