After one year of running my Williams locomotives with Electric R.R. Cruise Commander, I'm throughly convinced that Williams is a quality product and that the Curise Commander is a much better system than the majority of my factory installed cruise systems.
Boilers win again. OSU wins again. Blue Jackets lose again.

Buckeye ..... I totally agree on the Williams engine quality .... I love my 3 brass cab forwards .... tough .... high quality looks too .
Fife .... I shopped with the wife alll day from morning until 8:45 at night .... but now I have to go to kmart and check those buildings out .... one of the stores we did'nt get to .
Have been playing around with this new Nikon D5000 .... WOW what a camera !!! Want to pick up some lens hoods and filters just to protect the lenses .... UV I think . Broke the bank and got a 17" laptop also ..... it came with windows 7 which made it a heck of a deal. I love playing santa claus for myself ..... Y ou guys were right ... I DO LOVE IT !
Now for many hours of decorating ... oh and a new xmas tree ... retired the old one for a fold out version ... pappy's gonna go all out for decorating for the grand-kids this year . Lord I love Christmas .....

Speaking of buildings, at Lowes the other day they had a chocolate factory with a moving assembly line in the window. Kinda reminiscient of the old "I Love Lucy" segment.
We use the Williams to pull the track cleaners and they see a lot of service when the kids are running the layout. I have always felt that they are the Timex of trains, take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

It is a sunny 50 degrees. Going up to 60 today with all sunshine.
Today has been a busy day, so far. Now, to relax. Wife has gone to Florida, with sister for a week. She was treated to an all expense vacation at Disneyworld by her sister. It is soooo quiet here. Chores done, and now to relax. Run trains and take a nap. Life is good.
Buckeye....Glad you are feeling better. I had told you, that you needed to change your booze.
Dining car was here for the usual breakfast of Cheerios.

Mike C - Your rabbit and dog story reminds me of when our neighbor's dog (pre-farm days) took two of my rabbits out of their cages and buried them like a squirrel buries nuts, for later eating.

It is cloudy and mild in SE Indiana. We worked all afternoon in the attic, clearing out more "stuff". Some of the better items we took to Goodwill, but the rest will be re-cycled or left for trash. Patrick, your dog and rabbit story is much better than mine. I had cinnamon rolls on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL after "Desperate Housewives". I hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon all, just returned from celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in San Diego. We had three wonderful days of fun time happy music at the San Diego Traditional Jazz Festival. All music venues were in the same hotel where we stayed. We heard several good tradional jazz bands and a rare for this day and age Ragtime ochestra with about a dozen members. Also of interest was a Benny Goodman tribute by a young man age 24 who was fantastic. He must have been a child prodigy because he was a virtuoso. The same guy, a couple of days later did a tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis (the killer). He was equally as good on the piano as he was on the clarinet. He did all those crazy Jerry Lee things like standing on the piano and playing with his feet sometimes. They even had a cowboy jazz band called the "Hayriders". They were playing and singing a lot lof Johnny Cash stuff and I think I heard the "Wreck of Old 97" somewhere. We kicked off our stay with Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the festival on Thursday night with all the traditional Thanksgiving dishes. Wish I could say the same for the food for the rest of the time. It was OK but nothing to write home about but we had fun in spite of it. A good friend of mine who is the drummer in a band called the "Nightblooming Jazzmen" honored us when they were playing by announcing our golden wedding day that night. Traffic was pretty bad on get away day but we just really flew home this morning in about half the time we took going the other way. We made home in time for the 11:30 AM Mass this morning. There were lots of dancers at the festival with all that music and some very good ones too but we just sat with the rest of the old folks. Most of the people who still remember or like this kind of music are over 65. Man it looked like the walking wounded down there with wheelchairs and walkers. I guy could get killed being run over by one of them. But God bless them, they are still getting out and having fun and refusing to give up. Forgot to mention, there was also a tribute to Bing Crosby yesterday. Singer sounded a lot like him. They wound up the set by having everyone join in on "White Christmas". Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving too.

Cloudy and 50's today.
Was feeling a bit under the weather today, so it has been a quiet one. Mostly reclinerizing in front of the TV.
Pat - I grew up in Michigan, lived for a while in Kentucky, and am now in Missourri. My choice of breakfeast is just a weird 8N thing - I really don't like eggs. Entertaining to see other people's reactions to my choices, though.
Sounds like you had a great time, Ray. I'll bet that some of those people playing ragtime have played here in Sedalia during the ragtime festival we have every June.
Later all. I'll get back to work tomorrow to keep the Social Security coffers full.
Ray -- CONGRATS on the Golden Anniversary, what a milestone We have 13 to go and I'm not sure I'll make at the rate I'm going.
The music festival sounded wonderful. You should consider coming to the Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda, Iowa next June 10-13, it's where he was born and every year they have a 3 day festival and it's just super. I went a year ago when our oldest son played in a big band and I was very impressed, I promise you two things: you will have a great time and there will be no traffic concerns---even with large crowds Omaha is not far and lots of folks fly in from all over the country plus Europe.

Ray, congratulations on the 50th. That is fantastic! I think I will be room temp by the time I get there. (Got married late in life).
Ol Timer, I hear great things about the D5000. I have the D90 and love it. One of the best places to check is B&H photo in NYC. They have a web site. Also, www.bensbargains.net has a listing of each days bargains. About once a week, I will see a real good special on Nikon Lenses. They also have lighting set ups occasionally.
Well, it was a mixed bag today. Went to church a little early and brought one of the white-chocolate and caramel cheesecakes that I make to the media team. The service was very good as was Sunday School. Mexican food for lunch and a much needed nap. Tonight's service was very special. No preaching, just music and both video and live testimonies. One couple saw a number of blessings at one of the most horrible times one can imagine...the death of their infant son. Another couple, in which the wife was in a wheel chair for the last 17 years, she walked out on stage tonight! A miracle. A number of cases where we are all blessed.
I got Dennis Brennan's book yesterday. Planning on implementing some of the ideas on my scenery that I am working on. Good ideas and well planned layout. I like the way he explains the progression.

Weather suprise today, it soared into the 50s. But late this week we are scheduled for a downfall. One short trip to the store, got in and out without injuries.

Evening all
Services today were very good but my voice was very rough. My cold settled into my throat and makes it difficult to talk.
The train show had the biffest turnout ever. There were an estimated 2000 attending. i really enjoyed seeing the kids faces watching the trains.
Jim - There is a Doyles book on eBay for $14 but it now!

We're watching a tv show about Pumpkin Chunking - big guns, trebuchets and catapults.
Meant to chat with RT tonight, but got distracted and I think I missed him. Talked with SJ for a good while - just the usual this and that, but always fun. Had a good time with family in town on Thanksgiving, then some more fun on Friday. Yesterday, we went and saw Old Dogs -- There were a couple times I laughed so hard I had trouble breathing
Today, I was going to work on the basement stairs - drywall and all that fun stuff. But, instead, I did laundry, played video games with my son, and read a book. Just took it easy for a change.

Mornin' boys. Increasing clouds and 52 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Appropriate after the RAVENS squeaked one by Pittsburgh last night. Some great plays, but a hollow victory to me.
Littlest princess got to go riding yesterday, sporting her new pink Justin boots. Was in the saddle for a whole hour.
Got the outside Christmas icicles up, and put the sailboat together. Got to admit, easier putting sails on real sailboat than this bugger was to put together. Sheesh.

Well, the tree is up, lighted and almost done with the decorating. When the decorations are done, then the trains and Christmas Villages go up. Nothing on the outside yet, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday night.
I called the LHS for some Atlas 21st Century track (I was left a bunch from the Train Works), just looking for some O27 curves. Wound up buying a whole box of O27, 10” straights and some O46’s for $40 (Brent, don’t hate me..). In all about 25 pieces or so. The LHS is not going to carry Atlas 21st track anymore, so I was just there at the right time. Just need the tree to be done. I’ll be keeping the Atlas stuff for Christmas, as it was from Dave’s massive O gauge display (I have a bunch of O72 curves, way too wide for Christmas, but in case I get a basement one day...), a good remembrance of a dear friend.
Well, I have until the 15th to decide whether I go to PHL, they are not going to move me, it’s all on my dime, the pay is $5k less than I wanted and rent is big. If I accept, they’ll send a letter of intent.

Thanks for that link ... and the advice to go with Nikon ... yes I took hours comparing cameras in hand .... Nikons won big time .... plus the couple locals I contacted here said Nikon lenses were about the #1 in quality and clearness . I am from the old 35mm slr school ... man no more developing and film ! Plus hundreds of pics and movies on a memory card ... I hate to remember all that equipt. I had to buy a room full of it .... and 100's of hours and bad developing with an enlarger ... a whole room full of equipt. now downsized to a computer - printer and software with instantaneous 1,000 times better results . The savings in film and developing alone pays for a great digital slr . Now for some beautiful volunteer models ..... LOL .....
Fifedog .... I still remember puting that first " ship in a bottle " together .... I did'nt want the fold out instant ones and did the piece by piece construction .... what's that old saying " WOE IS ME " !!!!
Aloha all. Back from our sojorn to Conn. and back, 1,900 miles on the old min-van in 7 days. Not quite back to work yet. I'm fortunate to have vacation to burn in Dec. before year end. Highlights: riding Metro-North into GCT, seeing the GCT Lionel exhibit; visiting the Lionel store in Rockefeller Ctr., driving around woodsy Conn. and of course visiting with my mom and seeing my dad - probably for the last time - in his nursing home. Got a chance to bless him, he seemed to know I was there. Congratulations to you and your bride on your milestone, Ray. We only have 30 years to go to make 50 - LOL. Jon knows I love that music too and am 'only' 46.

We actually had about 5 minutes of rain here Saturday night. Just enough to make a mess of things. Did manage to get the outside Christmas decorations up. Even have the trees down for inside, will probably start working on them later this week.
Where is the best place to live? Or is there one? Years ago got this Places Rated Almanac, it was really interesting. If I had a choice I think I would select a "time" to relive, I doubt that it would be much different anywhere anymore. The climate probably the biggest factor.

Had a great Holiday and weekend. Made it to mass to give thanks for the blessings I have received. Family and friends are special. Yesterday, the family (son, daughter, their spouses and 6 grandchildren) ventured out and cut down our Christmas trees. Almost beat the rain. Warmed up afterwards at Outback.
Daisy is bugging me to go to Tim Hortons for our daily (almost) coffee and dounut. Might stop at the LHS (WB) on the way home.
32 at sunrise. 40s today.
Scrambled eggs with onion, green pepper and spam tossed in. One toast. good.

I've been looking at Delaware. No sales tax is a plus, seems the Real Estate taxes are under 2K/year for anything under $250K. State income tax is like 2% or less.
I'm stuck here, literally, with an under performing group, have outlasted 3 managers and countless co-workers and hardly a sniff at a raise for 6 years. Can't transfer out to same position, lack of car sales volume hurts me tremendously (had a shot at North Jersey, that's what the manager there said). It's a tough decision, at least I'd get a $13K+ raise off the bat (and a 3PM-11PM shift) + overtime.

Dear friends on the Forum, thank all of you for the congratulations on our 50th and allowing me to share with you and tell about the good time we had over the week end in San Diego. It is such a joy to share good times with friends. Otherwise who would even know about it or care. You guys are special! Sorry I didn't find time to go to the layout in Balboa Park. We just took a trolley ride one day from the hotel to the Sante Fe depot down town and back just for the heck of it. Too much going on at the festival to do much other stuff. Have a good week,

$14? That's more than... never mind. You've got quite a job ahead of you with masking the 600. How do you plan to redo the red window outlines? That is one of the reasons that I am hesistant to restore the 766.
I bought myself another Christmas gift this Saturday. I found a decent 755 Talking Station on ebay with a buy it now of $60. The reproducer and original record are there, so I think I got a good deal. My dad has the later 799, and I always wanted a 755 to go with it. His 799 had its original record that was red with yellow labels, but it didn't survive 20 straight years in my grandmother's attic. In the twelve years I've been browsing ebay, I've only seen one of the red records. Doyle's book makes no mention of it. I've had to settle for the Continental Limited repro record.
