The Milwaukee Road, I grew up watching trains in Perry,Iowa and Madric,Iowa and after the shutdown of the Iowa Division on the Milwaukee Road I watched trains in Davenport,Iowa,Ottumwa,Iowa and Washington,Iowa up till the time the Soo Line took over the Milwaukee Road in 1985. The one I miss the most is the Southern Pacific... I grew up living next to its tracks down here in south Texas and always took it for granite. A friend and I were sitting at a crossing recently waiting for a train that was coming around the curve in town, and when it finally appeared, it was an old SP GP-40 with UP numbers painted on it. I told my buddy how sad of a sight it was to see. It struck me as if it were a slave that had no say about its situation. At least it was the front engine... I also miss cabooses.
