Good evening guys, I figured that I would give this thread another kick. Lars I'm glad you liked those old TH&B consols, to bad she dosen't run any more but at least they have given her a good cosmetic restoration
here's a couple shots that might hit your nostalgia bone. A couple, of shots of the former NYC facilities in St Thomas Ontario.
The old Michigan Central Depot, now a historic land mark being converted ( internally to condos and boutiques )
The Michigan Central shop building ( now home to the Elgin County RR Musuem ) with preserved TH&B NW2 51 in front.
Another view of the shops with ex CP RS23's parked in front.
Rob
Ahhhhh, B&O - a railroad of lotsa family history for my pop 'n his pop.
A little something from me in advance of the "theme" tomorrow at the bar . . .

Good evening again guys, yup we still are beating the tired horse here, I refuse to belive that ti's dead yet I see that bewteen the bookends and the good captain that the NYC free for all has spilled over to here as well,no problem with that. Who knows perhaps we can hook the odd new member still with this thread it still gets quite a few looks. I haven't got any NYC pictures I do however have some TH&B ones. Since the TH&B was jointly owned by both the CPR and the NYC and it's affilites the MCRR and the CASO i figure that these pics would be appropriate.
Two shots opf TH&B consol, restored and stuffed and mounted ant Westfield Pioneer villiage in Ontario.
enjoy Rob.
Big "doings" over at the bar for the Anniversary party . . .
See my "bookend" made it back from his mountain top retreat!
Here's a little something just dropped off over at "Our" Place . . .

Good Morning Cap'n Tom!
It has been awhile since my last visit and I note that Rob, Lars, James and Doug are insistent on keeping this site going. So, old habit being somewhat hard to break, here is a contribution from ME!
New York Central 4-8-2 Loco #3144 (Paul Eilenberger collection - yesteryeardepot.com)
BK in Alberta, Canada's beautiful high mountain country!
Not sure I understand what happened as I just had a post disappear on me . . . hmmmm.
New York Central still rages on over at the bar, so here's one to keep things rollin' over here!

Hi Lars , just looks like you and I only in the lonely outpost today. Interesting looking movie, I'm going to have to try and track one down.Still trying to track down a copy of JF Gaarden's BC rail book for the good captain as well. It's been out of print for about ten years, but I know he would like one so the search goes on here's a couple more shots from me to keep things somewaht interesting over here.
A shot of small peter Witt type car 2786 in service in Toronto in the mid fifties, shot at Hillcrest shops by Al Patterson ( from the OERHA Collection )

G'day Cap'n Tom!

Good evening again gents , I trust that everyone is having a Happy Easter.Nice to see a bit of new blood here, I certainly hope Glen decides to join us at the Bar
Here's a couple more tidbits from me for this thread ( gotta keep it's life support plugged in )
here's 1917 built railgrinder W28 in a 1965 shoit from museum founding member J D knowles. this car was originally a passenger unit for the Toronto Civic railway ( one of the TTC's predessesors )This is before her major rebuilding in 1967 when the wood body was covered with steel sheathing and the windows were replaced by sliding bus type windows. W28 ( TCR 57 ) now resides at our museum along with sister 55 ( still in full passenger form ) and sister 52 which was rebuilt as RT7 a subway system rail grinder .
Here's a shot of W28 at the museum in 2006 I had just brought it into the station and snapped the picture before the next run.The picture shows the car in it's after rebuild form, and is how wwe recieved it in 1976 when it was retired.
enjoy Rob
I see a bit of activity at this lonely outpost and an invitation has been extended! Dittos . . . love to have any and all who feel that engaging in the type of conversation we have at "Our" Place fits into your idea of fun. Check us out by reading the 1st 'n last few Pages . . .

Well, by the looks of things, it surely doesn't appear as if you're gonna be letting this thread "die" in the near future! A bit of activity is all that's needed, huh???
Good to see the return of Rob - the trolleyboy (?) - to this lonely outpost!
An invitation to the man called "Glen" to join us over at the bar called "Our" Place - a fine adult establishment where the talk is of CLASSIC TRAINS, day 'n night. We'd love to have ya - and the first drink is on the house. Just look for me - I'm the Manager! (Tom's the Properietor!).
Figured I'd drop off a little something, then make ready for the Easter weekend with the family.
Have a HAPPY EASTER gents!
Good evening folks, it's been much much to long, but I'm now back and free to navigate again ( thank goodness )I'm glad to see this bit o the either's still generating abit of interest. Hi everyone, and especially Glen Brewer, who is the author of the Electroliner article which I posted in two parts. As Glen has pointed out, I failed to give credit to the photographers of the color pictures in the article, who were Greg Heier, one of the editors of IRM's Rail and Wire, and Harold Krewer.
Additionally, I did not realize that reproducing Rail and Wire articles was subject to copywrite laws. I stand corrected. I want thank Glen for his friendly correspondance today, and hope he will frequent our two threads as a contributor. I would delete my previous two-part Electroliner post if it were possible, but the Kalmbach forum does not permit deletion if a post has been "replied" to. I know this because I tried.
Glen has provided us a link to his website, which contains much of the contents of the article I posted and other material as well. The color photographs are omitted, as they are technically the property of others, but the web site contains other photos from Glen which were not in the original Rail and Wire article. Here's the link which Glen provided: (thanks!)

Thanx to James 'n Lars for the most recent Pix over here on the "lonely Thread."
Something from the bar, as we've "featured" the Great Northern . . .
Great Northern's Empire Builder passes through Winona Junction, Wisconsin in June, 1958. The cars bear the eye-popping Omaha Orange, Pullman Green, and gold stripe livery (known as the "Empire Builder scheme") that was the standard for GN passenger trains for 20 years. Just left the bar as the Pennsy tribute continues . . .
One of your favorites, Sir!

Doesn't appear as if the guys are gonna let you shut this thread down! <grin>
Nice Pix from James . . .
Here's something from the bar, as we "celebrate" Pennsy Day over there!
Hello everyone.
I finished up over at the bar and now it's time for some pictures here.
Ah yes. The Milwaukee road and there banch line service. An SD9 leads four f-units and a manifest at Sabula, Iowa.
And a bandit unit. Not to many of these left around. There either being scrapped or repainted. But this one some how has resisted the scrapping or repainting for over 40 years. This is near Bensenville, Illionois. The picture was taken on November 18, 2006.
Happy railroading
James
Nice one, Lars!
Here's something for our Canadian friends . . . One of my favorites!
Some fine, fine Pix from the museum up there in Ontario!
