Typical Narrow Gauge route, on the edge of a cliff.
More great Toltec views...
We head north away from the canyon...
What the heck is that buzzing the train...
We now come into Sublette, New Mexico (NM)...
Here the Narrow Gauge uses a Standpipe for water.
Here is quick shot of the Equipment Shed's
We pass by the Depot / Station of Sublette, New Mexico (NM)
...and the Bunk House where the D&RGW Crew lived to support this section of the line.
VIDEO CLIP #9 - Passing through Sublette, NM
Looking back at Sublette, New Mexico (NM)
We continue to zig-zag as we slowly track east
Here is another video frame of D&RGW #488 (K-36)
Here is a nice video frame showing many of the passenger cars that are part of our train.
Here is another Phone Booth along the line...
As you can now see, we are now out in the open plains...
I've changed positions to the platform right behind the Steam Engine #488 (K-36)
Passing by the Big Horn Wye & Siding
We cross the CO / NM State Line four (4) times very quickly and before I was ready we pass by Lava Tank You can't see it in the video but this is also the location of Lava Loop; used for turning snowplows in the winter.
Blowing off a bit of steam...
We cross back into Colorado; but, not for long...
Like I said, we are back into New Mexico
... and we make another curve right back into Colorado; turning NNE for Antonito, CO
With another blowdown of steam, we cross the open plains in this area with a storm approaching and then Antonito station is in site {Click on each Image to Enlarge}
We arrive in Antonito, Colorado... {Click on each Image to Enlarge}
At this point we board a bus to return to Chama, NM. We pass Los Pinos Tank as well as drive over Cumbres Pass where we once again see the Snowshed, Wye, etc. {Click on each Image to Enlarge}
It's nearly sunset so keep your eye out for wildlife...
We arrive back in Chama, NM were I catch a few video frames of the SAND HOUSE as the bus pulls into the parking lot as the sun sets on Day #2. Much more to come of our D&RGW Railfan trip...
