Changing your avatar as well as your signature does not work anymore with this forum software. I remember we had been promised an updated, functioning version by the end of this month, but I doubt that we well ever see any. Our host seemingly has lost interest in having a working customer interface.

Well, my vote could almost not be considered as anytime I hear Ontario I'm in because I live right next door. A large portion of my life I went into Ontario to Fort Frances, beautiful Sioux Narrows and Nestor Falls. Ontario is large, I never saw it all in its entirety.
Although we are in Canada now, we wouldn't have to move too far. Dave is up in that neck of the woods and I like Dave!
I'm easy, I'll go anywhere you guys want to go as I could really use a vacation.
My vote is Ontario because it's really, really beautiful up there and wilderness does provide solitude and not a lot of people.

We could take the Diner to Tottenham, Ontario where the South Simcoe Railway Museum is located. That is where #136 has resided for years and it is still operating during the summer months. It was rebuilt a few years ago so it still has many years of life ahead. We would only be about 40 kms north of Toronto, and there is a bunch of railroading history there too!

You should see me when I go to a Wild game against the Canucks at the Xcel Energy Center in St Paul.
After our national anthem and some sit down I stay on my feet always with my hand over my heart for O Canada.
My Grandfather was from Canada and so is my blood. I stand and respect for that one just as well as mine They are both mine!
So guys, where are we going to place the Diner for the month of May? If you want me to set it up then you will have to accept the fact that I am hard core Canadian so that will influence my choices.
How about Newfoundland?!? The place is beautiful! The Newfoundland Railway line was the longest 3' 6" narrow gauge railroad in North America at 906 miles. It ran from 1898 to 1988. The cars coming from the mainland on the ferries were standard gauge, so in order to save having to transfer all the goods from one boxcar to another, they simply switched out the trucks! There are epic tales of the train getting stuck in the snow for days, and too many moose encounters to count.

One of the guys I worked with called ALL insulation Rockwool. It's just what you get used to. If you really want to feel old, call sheetrock or rocklath Sackett board!

Gypsum Lath was the start of it all, it's different than drywall, and Gypsum brand "Sheetrock" is still considered the best, over all of the generic brands and manufacturers
Sheetrock was first coined by the tradesman that installed it.

I was just going to unbox the new FP7s and the wife wanted to go for a walk. Not being one to turn down a little execise I obliged. It was so quiet and eerie not a soul to be seen. We got into the forest about a KM and there is this meadow that is just beautiful, it was full of people just basking in the sun, most had dogs. After not seeing a soul, coming upon all these people all of a sudden felt strange. You see this meadow a lot in TV shows like "Once UponA Time" as it is quite pretty. The movie crews have to haul all the equipment in to shoot there as there is no road access.
Spent a good three hours working on this Estate I am looking after, Lawyer, real estate agent and government, all wonderful people but I would rather be doing other things.

Rick, have you tried SUPER CLEAN? I've found this stuff to be an excellent remover for painted plastic models. Works on most, but not all types of paint.
Strain it and store it in another jug for re-use. When it has finally reached the end of its usefulness for stripping paint you can still strain it and use it for non-critical cleaning chores rather than dumping it down the drain.

Me too. I spent my Summers in my youth at my Aunt and Uncles at Kaslo on Kootenay lake. The had an 18' ski boat and a 26' used for fishing. I had full use of both boats from about age 13 and would spend all day fishing.
Ricky, I had a great job and was by myself all the time. I would often roll into work at the airport and get in my work truck without going in the office. I would talk to the boss throughout the day but would go for weeks without seeing him in person. I really enjoyed the solitude. I would go all over greater Vancouver to railyards, the docks and the airport, anything to do with logistics. There are lots of Government jobs where people work alone and away from the germy and irritating population. I have a great indexed pension and in my last ten years I got 8 weeks vacation and 15 days sickleave per year that accumulated from year to year. I rarely ever took a sick day and had almost three years of sick time in the bank when I had to go on sick leave just before I retired. There are a lot of interesting government jobs, they don't all just push paper.
I got to go on many navel ships that were visiting Vancouver as well as many airplanes that belonged to the leaders of countries. I think I went aboard Airforce one three times over the years to help them out with logistal issues that came up while they were visiting.
Airports are a great place to work if you like to be on your own, almost 30,000 people work at Vancouver International, lots of them out on the airport driving around on their own takin care of business.

TF Short version is my sons' laptop went up in flames, set the curtains off and away we went. I am still on a nondisclosure with the insurance company and their conractor but the building department was involved from the first which worked out ok at the end. Trains - Did some painting of a hopper car for a project today, it needs another coat (or two) before decals can be applied. Grey primer under gloss black. And the gloss black after two coats (airbrushed) while has a very high gloss, isn't quite "black" yet. Hoping another coat does the trick.
Any recommendation for what stripper to use with Roundhouse kit cars? Those ones will be next, and Isopropyl, while it did some, isn't really working out well. (Unless I need to leave it submerged in it longer? I thought ~2&1/2 hours would suffice...)
I somehow ended up with a Fox Valley GP60, with installed DCC & Sound, for less than the price of most units that are DCC ready... Sometimes eBay can be dangerous... I bid just before I lost the employment... and no one else did...

I know from experience those can be a little bit tricky. Sometimes you have to get the inspector involved before the permit to see what needs to be done to bring everything back up to code so everything is safe. And dealing with the insurance company through it all sounds like a whole nother can of worms!

Just did 20 hard kms on the bike and ran a quick mile. It really hurts to run when you are full of Arthritis but I enjoyed it regardless. My BP was 104/62 HR49 before the ride and I feel like a gazillion $$$$$ right now. Not bad for an old man.

Actually, I take the blame. I just told him Ten Mile Lake, not which one. He put Ten Mile Lake in his phone, and it directed him to the wrong one.
