W*^k - Walked out tonight. They were back to not wearing masks, like the orders are to do, and the boss told someone who came in that only ugly people need to wear them. (I know, he was trying to be funny, but royally missed the mark. Big time.)I told the boss that I was no longer able to come in due to the pandemic, effective immediately.
I will not play that type of game. I had warned on Tuesday that I'd walk if things didn't change, and all but begged that we just simply obey the orders made for our (my) protection, as I really enjoyed being there and did not want to have to leave. And now they know I meant it.
I did tell him that I hated doing that, as I really enjoyed being there, but I felt that I no longer had any other choice left.
Now, the ball is in his court.
Trains - Caught a local today, but no pics due to bad sight lines. Models will be getting a bit more love from me for a while now. I have all kinds of time!

I was bad, I drove across state lines today. You know those jet hand dryers in road stop rest areas? Some people are still using them. Kills the idea of social distancing in the lavatory.

Hey Mike, yea my brain was full of crazy ideas when I first got here.
Sadly that fire has been almost completely extinguished due to the experience I had at the MSMRC, hopefully I will eventually regain interest but it certainly stunted my growth in the hobby.
Ulrich, yes we taxpayers will certainly be bearing the grunt of the cost to "pay back" the money that they're currently giving out, not only in the sense of taxes but due to the government basically firing up the Xerox machines and printing funny money it is going to greatly diminish the value of the USD, that's why alternatives such as hard assets like land and minerals (gold, silver, platinum) and alternative currencies i.e. cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have been rallying of late.
This all has certainly permanently changed our society and hopefully for the better only time will tell.
That's all I'm going to go into on that to avoid getting into a political discussion.

CP never bought any F7As, just the longer FP7. Some had a steam generator from the beginning, others had it added later, and a handful never had one at all. In later years quite a few lost their steam generators as passenger operations declined.
In a rather similar vein, many of them were regeared for 90mph operation, getting renumbered from 40xx to 14xx series. Likewise, some later reverted to 65 mph gearing and their original numbers.
On pictures check for the presence of steam generator details on the roof behind the winterization hatch. I believe they all had through steam lines so they could still be used in passenger service behind a steam generator equipped unit.

Brent .... You mentioned steam generators on FP7's, and you said some CP FP7's did not have steam generators. I'm surprised. FP7's were intended to be used on passenger trains, and they have their extra length to accomodate water tanks for the steam generators. I might guess in lator years of service, some units were demoted to freight service, and the shops removed the steam generators.

Still plugging away with the backround view block building. I thought I would have it ready for paint last night but I found a couple of weak glue joints from long ago and corrected them so another day at least.
Hope the rest of you are doing well, it was good to hear from Steven. Dave of course has been over on the layout forum figuring out his rotiserrie plan.

Packer fans are not too keen on the draft this morning. The thought was for a game changing wide receiver, instead of trading up, for the furtue replacement of Rogers.
We need rain here, at least in the south part of the state, it's dry. All we get is little scattered showers now and then.

I cannot begin to describe how happy I am that it's Friday. It's been just a stupid week at work.
I watched the first half of the NFL draft last night and was a little disappointed in the lack of trading up. Looks like I missed that excitement as it really didn't start until after I went to bed (right after the Bucs moved up a spot for Wirfs). So much for teams trying to move into the Lions or Giants spots for QB's. Was kind of boring. Most of the mock drafters had this one (at least the first half of it) pretty darn close. Oh well.

I am bored! I am so terribly bored! I wish we could get started on that inevitable move, but still no chance! As long as we don´t know where we finally will end up and when that will be, there is just nothing I can do.

I've been AWOL for I don't know how long.
Still working because I'm E S S E N T I A L at the hotel, the Y completely laid me off, like completely. They claim we are going to reopen next week but I doubt that will happen.
I am enjoying this little forced vacation financed compliments of the U.S. Government.
I'm not sure if I have posted since around my birthday but I actually went on my first date at the end of January, the following week she tells me shes not over her ex of almost a year. That's quite the long story and I'll spare y'all the details unless anyone asks.
I simply haven't had the time as of the beginning of this COVID-19 shut down I had not had a single day off since before new years.
Well just stopping in if y'all have any questions for me shoot them my way!
I just went outside to drop a bag od trash in the bin. Tomorrow is pick-up day, and I wanted to get it in there because there are chicken scraps in it.
It is really quiet and foggy outside, downright spooky.
Quite a change from last night when it was a crystal clear evening.
Tonight none of the stars are visible.

Well, it was another frustrating day on on the estate front, I'll spare you the details.
I really like doing plumbing and electrical, what I don't like is painting. The wife looks after the inside and we hire for the outside. We all have things we would rather not do and it is painting for me.

Watched a movie called Sergio last night, it was pretty good, I also watched "Orthodox" a four part series, that was worth watching. There are too many stinkers on now though and I don't ever remember turning so many off without watching them through as I have been lately. I like the limited series that are up to about ten episodes, lots of good british ones on. Netflix Canada is quite a bit different than Netflix U.S. as we get a lot of programing from other parts of the world and there is some really good stuff on. Watched a few from Australia recently that were quite good.

Had another company come and estimated the ceiling repairs today. They said they can do it for $550.00, which is a whole lot better than $1,600.00!
They will be here to get it done on Tuesday of next week.
Then I can tile and paint the garage and lanai... finally moving forward on something.
The new tub and toilet were delivered today, and they are beautiful. I just ordered everything from the Kohler "Bancroft" collection so it should all look good together. The shower head is really neat.
I need to start contacting plumbers to get this part done.
I went to Home Depot and bought some thin set mortar and grout. As soon as I get the old thin set up I can begin laying tile in what will be my wife's closet.

JR .... I am not sure exactly how many cars were in the train. On the first day, it must have been more than 20 cars from Vancouver to Kamloops. At that location the train was split into two sections. One section went to Jasper with about 1/3 of the cars. Our section was larger, and we went to Calgary.

Good morning from the West Coast where it is 14c with a 9/10 OC.
Garry, I have really been enjoying the photos. The one of the train going under the highway bridge brought back memories. The new bridge is waaaaay higher. We use to have to wind down the mountain side to cross that old one and climb back up again on the other side.
I have spent a lot of time watchin trains between Revelstoke and Banff, I just love watching the East bound trains grinding their way up to the continental divide with lots of big power. Lots of ghost from long ago to discover along the way as well.
I have this large tin can that had an expensive bottle of booze come in it that my sister had given me years ago. I started throwing quarters in it way back then and seeing as it is full I thought I would roll them up and buy an engine or two. I weighed them and there is 18660 grams of quarters and near as I can tell should be about $1059.00 worth of quarters. That is a lot of rolling. This is a good time to do it though being in lock down. I am looking at two Rapido FP7s. The "B" units are due out in August and the "A" units are going fast. Time to start making some offers on two, however, looking at the prices online there does not seem to be much in the way of low prices.
I changed the battery in my NCE base station, I have had it for 11 years and they say to do it every five. It was still showing 3.28 volts, however I did not want to chance a leaking battery. I opened up my Rapido coaches and the button batteries in those were leaking, I got them out in the time of nick.
I have to take my wife to the Neurologist today, it is such a shame such a talent can't work in her field any longer.
Ricky, you just stick to your guns on proper procedure. I find the disrepectful behaviour puzzling as that would not have been tolerated anywhere I worked in my 38 years on the job. Those that could not comply were not around long.
Ed, your property is beautiful, I don't know why people like to live armpit to armpit when we have such room to spread out on this continent.
Ray, I think the camera idea is great for vehicles, The back up camera was manditory in 2016 and forward facing cameras will come into effect as well. It will cut the litigation down immensely as well.

It's a beautiful day here. Sunny, 78°, light breeze. The dog and I just sat for about two hours out on the front porch. We don't have too many of these days.
Our town finally got a quiet zone on our four or five crossings. I am the only person in town who misses the train horns.

Ray - I am also not in the mood to do anything train related. I am still trying to find someone I can sell my Märklin layout to. Any reasonable amount would be just fine. For reasons we all know, the market has collapsed, at least in my neck of the woods.

Nope! I may get back in the mood to get more done, but at the moment haven't had much interest in doing anything. Part of that is having a lady that I like a lot to spend some time with (via Zoom at the moment). Guess I want to see where life may lead before I do much more with the layout. I'm an old man.... But... I ain't dead yet! I am only 2 certificates away from MMR. Doubt I will ever complete it.

Today is my wife's birthday. In recent years, I have treated her to a stay at a nice hotel (Nashville or Atlanta) and a dinner at a top quality restarant. This years plans are canceled becasue of the virus situation. So, tonight's dinner will be one I will pick up from a favorite restaurant near here that currently has cary out meals.
Yesterday was our 42nd day of staying home. I have used some of the time to work on the layout.

J.R.! Here in Geneva the police had some problems with a bunch of kids that didn't think the "Social Distancing" and "Stay at home" orders applied to them. Several of the College students at a major university here were among them. These are kids that for whatever reason could not go home when the college closed. They were several times down the street from me playing Basketball every day. Some were out at night causing damage to city property, and personal property etc. We now have a few (about 5) positive cases here in town.... Rumor has it they are all at the college. Hmmmmmm...... Kids haven't been out around town anymore. College security also got involved with making them realize exactly what J.R. mentioned and where they would end up if they didn't respect other peoples rights. I guess they didn't like the options! 'nuff said, before Vinnie comes over.
One nice thing about the Tesla is that the cameras are basically on all the time. There are 6 or 8 of them. Anyone messes with the car not only will I have video of them but a few minutes of the video will automatically be sent to Tesla and stored for a several days. Oh, and yes, I would press charges!
I have to get the next edition of the Lakeshores Limited Extra done in the next couple days for the NMRA Division here. That keeps me active and not thinking too much about current events....
