I still don't see anything, either.  I use Chrome.

Go back up to his original post, see the little box under the word  "Your".  Click on that.

I just tried it again, and it still works.

TF,

Oatman AZ with all the donkeys looks neat. and didn't you mean they "Burro" in the foot hills......Whistling

I think you're right.  I ain't winning no spelling bee hereLaugh  If the donkeys rest in marl (a mixture of clay and limestone)  wouldn't that make them MarlboroLaugh

Tis the last day of my Judy and my vacation.  Back to reality tomorrow.  Wxxk.  After 6 weeks I forgot about that.  I'm so far out of shape. I'll be feeling it tomorrow night.

Met our friends at Cowboys this evening.  Again, of course we're always safe.  We took the cab home.

Take care all.  I'll catch you later in the week

There is no little box.  A moot point anyway.  Probably just another display of food I'd probably find so full of carbs that I'd need a week's worth on insulin.

There is no little box.

If your using Chrome there is.

It was all about a post Steve O made, about the Easter egg thing, that apparently, no body could see unless your using Chrome.

I was answering York's post.

Never mind, it's over.

Howdy ....

Has anybody heard from John Boy lately ?

Whistling

G'd Evening Gang,

Thanks Garry,  it is nice to be remembered. I have often thought when any of us croak, we might not ever find out about it except that we don't show up any longer in here.We know of some of the others because they were coresponding by email with others that makes it a little more personal and likely to get a notice from a wife or kid.

Well I am not dead yet, I have been down in the Billings are for a month helping my Son and DIL in getting ready to move to Spokane. He received a really good job offer there with increases in everything and the fact that he owns a house there doesn't hurt either.  Lots of work really dressing his home he is leaving and we must have done a good job as he had four offers in 48 hours and they were all over his asking price.  He settled on $6000.00 over, and then we moved one load to Spokane then back to load the trailer again. We left for home on Friday morning and he left for Spokane with the second load with his wife staying in Montana for a couple of weeks to finish her employment there.

We didn't get home as quick as we thought because as we were getting close to Glendive about 6:00 pm the alternator quit on the truck and it is the start of Easter week end.  But, eventually found a wrecker who was still hanging around at that hour and he had a new unit for my truck. Pretty lucky, could have been there all the way to Monday.

Saw John at Jim's Junction in Billings and bought a baggage car and harriman style diner in NP colors to extend my NP local a little. I wish he had his store in our city, what a great Guy.  That is about all the RR. news I have right now. But I missed all the fellas here while I was away and too busy and tired to play on the puter at days end there.

Glad to be back.

Ken, use those roasting pans to make yourself a small painting booth for the RR in the garage.

Johnboy out....................and still trying to catch up on sleep and energy, and missed yard work here.

Steven Otte
Our Diner special this morning is hardboiled egg and carved ham breakfast wraps.

Oh no!! I can feel myself choking on the eggs as we speak!!Ick!Dead

Sorry Steven, no offense intended. Your food offerings have always been really appetizing but not this time, at least for this character! Dry hard boiled eggs! UGH! I'd need half a gallon of mayo to choke that down! I guess I'm being really fussy. I love egg salad sandwiches! Go figure!ClownLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Cheers!!

Good morning.  It's 38 degrees and clear this morning.  Good weather to do yard work without getting hot.

I'm excited today to start work on something I've put off for a while -- building a gas station for the layout.  I found some pictures of some that I like, and I'll give it a try.

Going through old pictures, I found this.  My father took us kids out to the Grand Island, NE, airport, and this locomotive was parked there on an abandoned siding.  Everytime we went to the airport, we loved climbing on it.  We could get into the cab, but the passenger car was locked.

This was a Union Pacific Baldwin 2-8-0, built in 1901.  It now sits at the Stuhr Museum in Grand Island.

This was in the 1950s sometime.  My father's love of trains was passed down to us kids.

Eggs?

I don't want to be too fussy, well yes, I do...

Yolks must be soft or even runny, however broken and fully cooked yolks are ok.

Deviled eggs are ok, but boiled, hard or udderwise are not.

We get poache eddgs a lot, it depends on who is cooking on Sunday.

Skrambled egs are fine and so are omlets (so long as there is not cheese)

When we have hash, it is so dry that I like to add a raw egg to give it some jucyness. Katsoup helps, but we want not too much of that.

Oh yeah, the eggs gotta be from a Chicken, Aligator eggs are for the birds.

The neighbor's brown eggs are not as good as the white eggs from the truck.
We get the neighbor's eggs so as to not hurt her feelings. Truck Eggs are cheaper.

Well I am back from my trip to Chicago I can tell you that Amtrak has cheapened the experience on the Lake Shore Limited by eliminating the dinning car.  In fact there is no food service at all between NYC and Albany where the Cafe car comes from Boston.

Well I am back from my trip to Chicago I can tell you that Amtrak has cheapened the experience on the Lake Shore Limited by eliminating the dinning car.  In fact there is no food service at all between NYC and Albany where the Cafe car comes from Boston.

I still fail to understand Anderson and the other guys at Amtrak’s thoughts when they cut diner service on those east coast trains. I mean they had just gotten new veiwliner II diners delivered and now they just use them as poor excuses for lounges. Amtrak’s current management just doesn‘t seem to understand that if you cut services like diners, you may save money today, but soon less people will ride your train and you’ll lose even more money!

I have ridden one Amtrak train, the empire builder, and the diner was always full. I bet two diners could have kept busy on that train. Also meals in the diner may not have been great in terms of food quality, but the staff are the friendliest people for miles, plus it sure beats airplane food. Not to mention the tradition of dining cars on trains that is dieing thanks to cost cutting centered Amtrak leadership.

Anyway that’s my rant for today. I really disagree too much with Amtrak’s current leadership. I miss Joe Boardman! Oh, and even Boardman criticized his predecessors, so I’m sure I not alone in my resentment of current Amtrak policy.

My apologies if this got a little opinionated, we each have our own opinions and I respect that, especially if they don’t necessarily line up with mine.

Regards, Isaac

Good afternoon from the edge of the Pacific Rim where we have had two small tremors and there is not a cloud in the sky at 15c.

Just FB chatting with my cousin, she is sitting on a plane on Vancouver Island going to Calgary- Paris-Morroco. I am so jealous, I told her to say hi to Sam when she gets to Casablanca and to get him to play it again.Laugh We are very close and more like siblings than cousins. They spend 3 months in Hawaii every year and we will likely join them for a while this year.

Not hearing much from young Steven is a good thing as far as I am concerned, it means he is getting on with his life instead of sitting around here with us old geezers. I do hope he keeps us posted on his adventures though.

I have been putting a bunch of stuff for free in the local online ads and stuff is disappearing. I put a pair of 40-year-old skis on there that were used only once and even at free they are still here. Had two people say they want them, however, they have not shown up yet. They were very expensive when bought, built for speed. I had several different pairs of skis when my skiing days ended so that is why they weren't used more than once.

It was agony on the bike today as the muscles just would not loosen up, more protein required I think. I'll ask the boss. Last week I had a bottle of Red, some Rum and Pepsis and several bottles of Corona. It takes about a week after misbehaving to see what the damage will be. It was 5lbs added. No biggie it will go right back down again as I don't plan on any more booze for a while. Booze just puts weight on me in the flash of an eye. I do love having a good bottle of wine all to myself every once in a while though.

Image may contain: mountain, sky, cloud, outdoor and nature

My wife came home with a massive chocolate egg she got on sale for 75% off, for the kid. I think he was feeling a little left out this year. I usually put a huge bag of Purdys chocolate eggs in his hockey bag when I send it to Calgary for the tournament, I forgot this year.  He is home on Sunday, can't wait. He has already bought us tickets to some Whitecaps games this Summer. Only if his shooting schedule screws things up is that a problem.

Time to sell or give away more junk. I have a 10' slide from the kid's playhouse I took down. $150.00 seems to be what they are going for used, we will see.

Time to get out in the Sun.

All the best to all.

Good evening.... Tired after my first day back to wxxk after 6 weeks off.

Haven't even had time to brush over the Forum here.  I do know,  I feel like I've been hit by a freight train.  I'm out of shape.

Tending to do these little handyman one day jobs lately.  I like it.  They pay the bills.

If I feel this sore right now after 6 weeks,  I can't imagine what I'll feel like in the morning.

I will have coffee with you kids... Yes

What do you think guys?  I could use a pat on the backSmile

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang, Stucco Man and I a Beer and leave a stein outside for Ulrich.

Stucco, Stucco, Stucco Man I just want to be a Stucco Man. TF I have no idea why that poped into my head, it just did? Smile, Wink & Grin Seems stucco is the new thing and painting brick houses according to the DYI shows. One of the rerson I bought a all brick house was because I never need to have it painted?

John Boy Glad you checked in again. You are right about needing to have are relatvies letting the dinner know if one of us goes to the big round house in the sky.

Scratch Bulit Station. Sorry I don't rememeber the name of the poster but Yes looks great.

Work Front When this company folds and it will I will be spending my days at the local Library. It will be just like work! I will set on my butt and read all day and no one will bother me!

Brent I am somewhat with you with Steven. If we had the internet when I was 18 years old I would not have hung out with old farts like us! I wonder what he did with his Rustang?

Vapping Front Ray and other's you are right the only way to stop smoking is to stop. But cutting back, well in the last 7 days I have smoked 51 cigarettes. Before vapping it would have be 240 cigarettes. I will still take this as a win. I not waking my self up hacking my brains out, coughing during the day and breathing some what better.

 Later, Ken

I agree with Dave. It is pretty tough to mimic a hand-applied finish like that. I think it is called skip-trowel travertine or something like that, where you skim the high spots after you stipple. I tried to patch a ceiling that I first did fifteen years ago and couldn't match it.

I think 'ya done mighty good Yes

I can't pat 'ya on the back but I'll buy you a shot & a beer Wink

Yes, Art Linklater was a grea comedian and show host who spent most of his career Stateside but, the man was actually born in Moose Jaw , Saskatchewan, Canada.   which is a Canadian Pacific Division point and major yards.   It is 46 miles west of where I live.

Hey, hey, hey!

Yeah I know y'all were talking about me, I try to keep tabs on what's on the up and up in the diner.

So I'll go ahead and do a big update of my various exploits.

Did you guys see the picture of me in my suit for prom?

If not here it is again.

I look rather dapper if I do say so myself.

I've been at the Y almost 5 weeks now, still learning something new and encounter a new variation of crazy everyday, I finished the new computer software training program, we're transitioning from Trinexum by Daxko to Personify, supposedly my job becomes easier when that happens but we shall see what we shall see.

As of last Tuesday the Midsouth Model Railroad Club finally has an official Instagram account, for the uninitiated Instagram is a social media platform for sharing photos and videos, somewhat similar to Imgur, Flickr and the like but also VERY different, usually one posts pictures of themselves, their families, friends, ect... well as of Sunday we had three followers, then I posted a picture of a Rock Island caboose on the branchline local and bam we started gaining followers like gangbusters, as of 5 minutes ago were up to 57 followers!

Heres the page so you guys can see all the wonderful photography work we've been doing.

https://www.instagram.com/midsouthmodelrailroad/

I don't know if you have to have an account to view the pictures hopefully you guys can see it!

As far as the Rustang its currently in storage in a tin building which is a vast improvement over the cloth car cover I had been using.

Sunday I'm going to Jazz Fest to see BLEACHERS LIVE IN CONCERT!!!!!

For those unfamiliar with Bleachers and the work of Jack Antonoff here is what in my opinion are the top 10 Bleachers songs off their first album Strange Desire and their newest album Gone Now.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8Exd-vw9psKWgfFbZ_cH_VtJ6hZhhjf5

Everybody Lost Somebody is by far my favorite of all even though it is explicit, it's only one word towards the end of the song but it's a big one think Bruce Willis "Yippee ki yay 'Melon Farmer'", other than that it's a great song.

And Ken you want stucco? Oh how could you get stucco, if your home doesn't triple in value in a year I don't know what your gonna do about it!Laugh

^^that's a Groucho Marx bit if you didn't get the reference from the film "Cocoanuts"^^

I fixed my bicycle this past weekend, needed new tires and tubes, I've been riding it a little everyday trying to get some exercise.

I've got some modeling projects in the works, I need to get back after that KCS gon, I'm planning on doing another heavy flat with a homebuilt tarpaulined load we're doing a special move train for the one so I figured might as well have two, and I'm wanting to do a mine kitbash but that's probably the farthest from being started right now!

Ken congrats on the go at quitting, keep at it!

I'll try to keep in touch guys I've just been too busy, night all!

Hi all!

I'm back like a bad penny.

KEN: I smoked since i was 9, regularly since 16, and quit in 2005 after we came back from Hawai'i, so a long time. I quit for 10 years, then the relationship stress, the financial stress, stress, S-t-r-e-s-s, STRESS, did I mention STRESS???? caused me to go back to it. Now we were suposed to quit by end of year last december. HAH! Stress wiith the dementia FIL took care of that.
ANYWAY, KEN, I found you will only quit...by cold turkey, the patch {which I used}, Chantix, tapering off or other method...ONLY WHEN YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND TO QUIT. I tried quitting dozens of times before to no avail. Only wen I made my mind up to QUIT, did I succeed. If you don't set your mind to it, you'll never quit......I wish you luck, and will only say that once, I certainly won't harp on you!

Well, at work tonight at the 'tel. I cna READ the forum on my smart phone, just can't make a post on it. I RARELY use the old computer at home, so I'm using the one here at work {don't tell on me!}

I like night audit shift. It's hard to sleep days, but I like the slower pace of night audit. Two more hours until I start breakfast. I don't mind doing breakfast, but hate doing it, if that makes any sense.

I just tjhought I'd pop in while i hve a moment.

Young Steven: yes,you look very handsome. Any girl would be lucky to connect with you, and judging by your work, you have a "go get 'em" attiude, appear to be reliable, are hard working and I hope willing to go the extra mile. Keep it up no matter what you do, itll take you far in life. I'm handicapped, get around wth a cane and I still workpart time. Good luck in life. and a piece of unsolicited advice I wish I had...start saving 15% of your gross income towards retirement. Open yourself a ROTH and fully fund it, take advantage of any 401Ks offered and save up to the match, if any, at least, and then go for tax advantaged accooounts. You'll be a millionaire ealier than later, a multimillionaire later and retire happy, no matter how little you make. I DID save a bit in my 20s but severe medical issues in my 30s meant I had to spend it. Now im mid 50s, ad our biggest assset is only our house, really {bought in 2015 fall, and now own half of it}. We have some savings, but no where near a million. I'd hate to see you in your 50s scrambling like we are. start now and religiously save that 15%, and you'll be looking AT retirement in your 50s, not working through it like my OH {Other Half} and I are doing. You dind't ask, but I thought I'd pass it on, I WISH someone had told me to save it and NOT touch it for any reason, but alas, no one did, and I used it all on living expenses and medical bills,,,,hard to get/keep a job when you spend 8 months out of 12 in the hospital!. I also cashed in 401ks for various emplouyers thining that was what I supposed to do when my employment ended. i could have kept retierement invested and been OK now. Getting  pension was the thing when I was your age, but they were drying up then, with you pay into 401ks takng over. Best of luck to you for your future. Remember its not how much you make, its what you do with what you get!! Lecture/rant over.

well, I'd best go get the coffee pots set up so I can strart those at 4:45am, to be done by 5am.

Special thoughts and prayers for everyone who needs thems!!!

Now I'll go back through and read all the posts I've missed.

Steven,

start saving 15% of your gross income towards retirement.

No better advice than that! It will be hard to do at first but life will be easy when you are in your early, comfortable retirement. If you can't do 15% every pay cheque, then try for 10%. Don't make the mistake of saying "I can't put in the full amount so I won't put in anything this time." Always put something in.

My dad was a very careful saver. He put some money aside for each of the important things that he wanted in life. Even though he never made a huge wage, he had a car fund, a house fund, a boat fund and a retirement fund. He wasn't able to put a lot in each month, sometimes very little, but at least something. The result was that he drove decent cars, had a decent home (and a cottage), and a nice boat (not huge) and he retired at 52! The biggest mistake he made was that when he did have a fair amount of money in his later years, he wouldn't spend it on himself or my mom!Bang Head

Cheers!!
