Nearly 10 hours since Johnboys post and no one has yet shown up?

Good Afternoon!

Janie, I´ll be staying here at the RC to wait and see who will drop by today! Yes, coffee is just fine, but add a slice of that apple crumble pie Vinnie just made. Top it with vanilla ice cream and a generous table spoon full of rum raisins, please.

While waiting for an order of switches (the SPDT and DPDT kind, not turnouts) to arrive from China, so I can continue on the wiring, I doodled with a new scenery idea, being more in line with the prototype location at Stalden-Neubrück. This location is actually not on the Rhaetian Railway, but on the Matterhorn Gotthardbahn on the final leg of the Glacier Express route to Zermatt. You won´t find any of the motive power I have on that line - a vital gadget is missing on the locos, the cog wheel. Had I known this earlier, I would have gone for locos of that railway. Well, maybe one fine day - if I have a chance to save up some money I don´t spend for coffin nails ... (no offense meant, Ken).

So here is the new idea:

The prototype has a road right behind the little chapel - it´s the main road leading up the valley to Zermatt.

Speaking of waiting for a delivery from China - I have ordered two packs of switches, each containing 10 switches of either type, for a price which is below the shipping charges occuring for a delivery from a German source. I just don´t understand how that can be!

LION - got any news on the release date? I bet the horsepiddle is running out of wildebeest biltong by now.

Have a great day, ya´ hear!

Good morning everybody !

We're busy house cleaning because out-of-town guets are arriving tomorrow night. It is Reggie and his wife. Reggie is a guy I grew up with in Illionis. We've been best friends for our entire lives. He is also a train nut. I named Reggie's Junk Yard on my layout after him because he has accumulated vast amounts of stuff in his lifetime. They live in the country in northern Illinois, and he has huge out buildings just to store his stuff. Included is lots and lots of trains.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Vanilla Almond Granola and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee to start the day....

Sun is busy shining outside here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  Not a cloud to be seen out there.  I will transplant a couple small plants from the area that will get paved over (hopefully) next Monday.  That is something I have been going to do all Summer and never got to it.  Actaully they will do better now that they are basically dorment for the season.  Gives them more time to adjust and recover.  Also plan to con tinue riveting the bridge.....  Oh, and I shall go over to one of the schools here in Geneva and cast my vote as is my right and responsibility!

Ulrich, love the design and so good to have you back aboard my friend!  Look forward to seeing it copmplete and trains running....

Best get myself moving...  Have already dealt with a pile of emails this morning.  many about the upcoming Fall Meet for the Division.

Catch you later!

Evening guys

just a beautiful day out today, 20c and too think there could be son right around the corner. I was off work for the last couple days but go back tomorrow. Just haven't been in the train mood yet, usually I get the bug in the fall but so far nothing yet. I have been playing a lot of my table top sports games lately and have my game table set up in the train room. I received my latest mr in the mail today. Was a nice write up by Neil about andys passing. I'm going to also miss Jim hedigers contributions but the new column that Steve othe is doing sounds like it will be good too.

Whistling

Thanks CN, Charlie and Garry,  I don't know how you remembered but that was a very nice gesture.

We celebrated a little Sunday evening with my Son and Grandson and DIL. They had a lovely supper that my Wife made and I watched them eat it.  I also blended some of it so that it would go down my tube. So I didn't go without.  Ha Ha.

Actually today is my big event. I woke up this morning to being 75 years old. Although I don't think it, sometimes I feel it. But all in all, I consider myself very fortunate to have lived through 3/4 of a century.  I have had many friends and co-workers that never made it this far. And other than this darn Cancer that was in my throat, I have been very healthy. My Father suffered with heart aliments from 51 to his passing at 72. My Grandfathers only made it as far as ( one at 48 and one at 52). I hope I take after the women on my side as they lived into their 90s. But I only want to with decent health.

Been looking on line today for some grade crossing signal drivers and some block detection equipment. Can't make up my mind as to how to go on this.  Any suggestions ?

We are supposed to have 2 to 4 inches of snow by morning, I'm hoping the weather guessers are wrong again but usually they only are when predicting good weather.  I do have everything done around here. Made the last rake of the leaves yesterday, put the little car away for the winter, got the winter tires on the Wife's HHR and on my truck. Got the timer for the block heater for the truck hooked up as only the HHR fits in the garage.

Going to do some more work on the retaining wall that I mentioned earlier, things happened and I didn't get back to it like I thought I would.  I hope this area starts to look a little better by Christmas.  But, then I have a Thomas the Train set up to get ready for my Grandson for that day as well,  and I am still working part time about 25 hours a week.

Back to work tomorrow, then just the morning on Thursday as I have a Cancer Clinic Appt that afternoon and then work all day Saturday.   Thats it for this week.

Prayers and blessings to all in need, keep smiling it does really help.

Garry have a great visit with your Buddy from times past.

Br. Elias, hope that cathiter doesn't hurt as much coming out as it did going in. Get well and home soon.

Ulrich, I do like your changes on the layout.  I'm sure it will be a beauty.

Bad times for subways.  The Lion is lyin' in bed.  Last night one of my subway trains decided to short out.  I took the powered car apart and it looks like the decoder is fried.  The motor turns freely, so I don't think that's the problem.

Oh, well, it's only a cheapo DH123.  I've got another basic decoder in my parts box.

Hey all

In LOTS of pain. Still very sore from getting rear ended last week, yesterday the dentist finished my year and a half of dental work ( oh my gosh I am sooo glad that is over ) and to top it all off today I recieved the second injection in my knee. This time the pain was so great from the shot that I almost passed out and got a bit Ick! from the pain.

Sorry I havent been regular on here. Work pressures are mounting. I have to deliver five multi million dollar units in Nov. First one goes out teh door tomorrow, followed by another one in five days. Then another one I think on the 17th. By the way if any of you all are investors - the industry is about to tank - we are hearing from all of the sales people the buyers have disappeared. We have dropped prices 100k. May want to make some investment adjustments. We are only building stuff sold last year. We have had no new sales contracts since July. We are hearing that all over the metro area.

JOHNBOY -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY CakeChefMusicGift Hope it was another great one : )

Ulrich - I like the castle ! What happened to the castle? LOL On the Wildebeast biltong - I laughed so hard at that !!!

Garry - Man that sound like a great time. Home will not be the same with two of you in the same place and time - hope you enjoy the time.

Up831 - any time this month will be fine. What do you think of the bare bones design ?

Frank - OH NY GOSH that was funny - even though I am in a lot of pain I laughed so hard at the picture.

Lion - Hope you get out of as Ulrich says - hospital soon

Ken - where are you we miss you

Galaxy are you okay ????

I probably will not be in tomorrow unless by some miracle. So hope you all have a great day . Lion hear is a Angel for you. John Boy - There is a big Chocolate cake for you and your favorite RR piece in thE present.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!  Evenin' folks!

Janie, I'll have a nice hot cup of decaf and a hot butterscotch sundae tonight.  Haven't had anything like that since mid summer.

I went over to school and filled in a bunch of little dots, signed on the line with my full name (that I only use to vote anymore), and did my civic duty.  Waiting to hear how the local election turned out.  Should know in about an hour.  Only a couple people that I really hope got elected.  Most of the other races were a toss-up with good people running on all the lines.  Later this afternoon I dug a bit of a couple plants I was hoping to save from the area that will soon become more driveway.  After digging for a bit I found that certain hard to control weeds and the depth of the tap root on one of them was going to make it more work than I wanted to spend.  So I will simply buy more Oregano and some other herbs for the new raised bed.  Part of me will miss the asperagus next spring, but it always brings on a gout attack, so I am better off not having it around.

After another few hours of decal work over the last couple days, I think I am making progress on the bridge, albeit SLOWly...

The first outside side is done except for one decal that came loose on me when I put the one directly under it in place.

Got one end pretty much done as well.  I am right now about 2/5ths. complete on the first half of the bridge decals......  I may put the decaling away for a few days and start building the other half of the bridge.

Here is the end of the bridge I decaled.

Happy Birthday JohnBoy!  I hope to be 75 in another 6 years, God willing and the creek don't rise!  I'll be 69 on Thanksgiving...

Have a great night, folks!

Good evening.  Today was MOH and my weekly bridge afternoon.  Subbed in an other bride group this evening.  Today was absolutely beautiful in the SE Ohio River Valley with a high of 76F.  Not bad for Novemer 3. It was a shame to spend the afternoon indoors.

Waiting to see whether Ohio is going to pot, literally as the election was today.

Johnboy, happy, happy birthday, eh.  Talked to my friend in northeastern Saskatchewan a couple days ago and he said they have had virtually no snow yet and that the flowers were still blooming in  their yard next to the house.  Hopefully Regina wlll escape snow for a little while longer.

Howmus, the bridge is looking good, nice work

Mister Beasley, hope you are able to fix your subway car with a decoder change.

Time to turn in for the night.  Prayers to those in need of healing and better health.

Johnboy!

I hope I am not to late!

Good Morning!

No fog this morning for a change. While the higher-ups (regions I mean) of Germany reported record temperatures and plenty of sunshine in these past days, it was just grey and foggy in my neck of the woods - the low lands. On the Brocken Mountain (that´s the one with the steam train going up to) we had 20 ° C yesterday - most unusual for the time of the year. A foot of snow is the usual at the beginning of November.

The freight cars I won at the "Bay" are announced to be arriving today, so I will be able to run a freight train now. My prototype, the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) is known for running short freight trains pulled by a big loco.

I still have a couple of kits awaiting assembly, so that could as well be an option for the day!

Where is Galaxy - I am getting worried!

Have a good one!

Yoohoo! Anybody there?

Oh, Flo - I didn´t see you, the place looks deserted...

Make that coffee and a cinnamon roll for me, please.

The freight cars arrived in today´s mail, so I can now run a freight train on the loop. The only car still missing is a flat car with a lumber load, but that will have to wait until next month, as nI have spend my this month´s allowance (part of the savings from not smoking any longer) on this purchase.

Here is a shor video showing the freight cars:

Enjoy!

 Good Morning Dinners!

Flo, big cup of Coffee please.

Tried to post yesterday morning but my coumpter / keyboard turned into a German Enigma Machine? Confused When I tried to type in Good Morning Dinners this is what came out?

                              Gd Mng Dnns!
Turns out my keybaod died. I spent the moring running scans of the computer, I was a afraid I had picked up a bug on the internet. Luckly it was just the keyboard and found one at Best Buy for $6.99. Not real happy wih it, a little smaller than the old one but works fine.
Yard Wars and Back. Well seems my age has caught up with my back. Sigh About 3 weeks ago and strained my back with a larger (5" inch) tree I cut down. Still have some minor pain on and off for the last 3 weeks. I hope to do a little work in the backyard before I go in to work today. Time is getting short now.
Well that is it for now, I will type at you all later.

Mornin' Ulrich, mornin' Ken, Mornin' Jim....  Place is pretty quiet here this morning.

Oh, Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning.  Over easy eggs, couple pieces of bacon, home fries, and a double order of the sour dough toast with grape jelly to tide me over to lunch.

I just got home from the barber shop....  He took one look at me and said, "Where the He.... have you been?"  Told him I'm retired, too busy to drive a block over and get my hair cut!  Got a call at 7:30 this morning from the paving contractor who wanted to do my job today as he had a last minute concelation....  Since I was up well after midnight last night I was still in bed cutting ZZZZZZ's  Got his messgae about 10AM.  Called back and got his wife.  He called me back an hour latter and said, "no problem".  They're doing a different one and he will see me on Monday as scheduled.  Got an email back from a local handiman I contacted about getting the plumbing done...  I will give him a call in a few minutes.

Currently 74°F here in the Finger Lakes Region...  I may have to start opening some windows soon!

Catch you all later!

Good Evening,

Another dull day here with some drizzle but at least no white stuff is forecast.

Had a nice day, my wife took me out for my birthday lunch to Cafe Carlo which despite the name, isn't a Mexcian restaurant. We have been going there for 25 years and had the mussles in Pernod cream sauce again. Yummy as usual. My day was actually yesterday but we have been celebrating it on the 4th for over 20 years as our first Westie died on the 3rd in 1994.

Tonight we plan on watching more episodes of Serfridge's on Youtube. It is a very well done show.

I had planned on running trains today but we spent the morning watching the swearing in of the new PM and his Cabinet today.

Where are you Galaxy?

Good evening.

YGW, Ohio had a ballot issue on pot but it was really convulutated as it involved setting up a monoply to grow and sell pot as a means of control and taxation.  It really appeared to be about setting up a legal criminal enterprise.  Did not fool the voters at it went down to defeat in all 88 counties by about 67%.

On the footing front, hand digging as access is very limited to where fgotings are needed.  Frost line is about 27 inches here so the digging is not an impossibility.  Already ran into the first "surprise" as shown in picture with exposed Romex buried in the ground with no conduit.  I am sure this is a code violation and will correct it and do it the way it should have been done when the house was rewired 15 years ago when my SIL and daughter owned the house.  The wiring goes to the detached garage to power a couple of lights and two wall receptacles.  The whole purpose is to provide proper framing to enclose the area under the porch deck.  It previously was enclosed with T1011 running to dirt supported by one 2x4 stack driven into the ground.  Problem is I now how to do the job right and don't want to continue to live with someone elses shoddy workmanship.

Train front.  Spike down more track on one curve. Its about time to build more bench work as I said last week but the outside project has priority (MOH wants it done before winter).

CN. Charlie,    Ah ha, now I know how you remembered my birthday.

Many congratulations on your birthday as well.  I guess Nov. 3rd is a great time of the year.  Glad to hear you had a good luncheon with YBH,  And I hope we both have many more birthdays to come and all in good health.

Thanks again to all for the good wishes for the Birthday, I will gladly share them with Charlie.

I didn't get to watch any of the swearing in ceremonies as I was at work today.  Boy there sure is some young uns in Cabinet.  Hope they know what they are doing.  Guess we have to wait and see before passing any judgement.  Best of luck to our Canada.

Going to shut it down early tonight. Must work in the morning then to the cancer Clinic in the afternoon with a Flu shot as a chaser,

I am a 29 year old with no job and no friends, kids or girlfriend. I still do resumes but nothing happening. If my allowance survives the two or weeks without dad asking for it back I buy something for layout. Sometimes I report what's happening with dad, mom, and my siblings (Anthony and Jackie).

I bought a ATSF SD40-2 and UP ES44AC on EBay both with free shipping.

My mom was planning to visit my sister in December but no cheap air line tickets for less than $600. So my dad is going to visit her in two weeks under $400. later in the month.

I would like a cup of black coffee and a plain donut please.

Here in Genoa Illinois itis over 60 and sunny. It is also November,so if this is global warmingI am all for it. Gonna wait till all the leaves are fallen and hope the wind blowes them into the street like it has for the past few years.

My layout, about 20 by 30, is about done as to the main line, and about 75% has rough scenery in, I hope to get the rest of the scenery done by the end of the year, then comes detailing.

Good Afternoon!

Chloe, coffee and a slice of that deliciously looking pie - whatever it is, please!

Nothing to report today. It´s one of those days with nothing really happening. Looking back the last few months, that´s actually good news! I did some tweaking of that 6-axle boxcab electric, which has not been performing to well on my layout. I don´t really know what I did and what it was supposed to effect, but the loco now runs a little better. There is still a glitch in her gitalong, but that will be taken care of by installing a few more feeders and a new power pack/controller. The Kato power pack I have is a heap of expensive crap and has not enough oomph to it to power that dual motor loco wih two amps eating 3-pole motors in it. So I will have to save a 6 weeks worth of no smoking money to get a more powerful power pack and controller, which will give me the feel of a DCC control, albeit for  single loco. There is a German company making one which incorporates individually adjustable speed tables and momentum - the Rolls Royce among DC controllers! It´s "only" 130 bucks - Sigh

Other than that, I have been watching some rather informative videos on youtube about the new "tiny house" movement in the US. Quite interesting! If I were single (and I will be if Petra does not stop smoking Angry), that would be the way to go for me. If you don´t like where you are, simply hitch your house to your truck and move it to a better place! Not a bad thought!

angelob - I am sorry to hear about your certainly not satisfying situation. I am sure there will be better times coming, just hang in there! There may not be much we can actually do to improve your situation, but we can listen and we care!

Still no word from Galaxy - I just hope he is caught up by moving out the old and into the new house!

Have a good one!

Mornin' everyone....

Ah, Zoe, no, no, nothing for me this morning.  I had to go down to the very big medical center for my twice yearly Phlebotomist visit.  Got that over with no difficulty (she found the vein on the first try) and then headed over to the Railroad Tracks downtown to my favorite little diner (Water Street Diner) in town for the #2 Special this morning complete with 4 cups of coffee and sour dough toast....  I shall find out what my blood tells the doctor next week when I pay him a visit.

So....  Where the heck IS Galaxy?  Do hope he is OK and didn't get himself injured cleaning out the Trailer....  Or something like that.

I have a handyman stopping by later this afternoon to , hopefully, fix the sink and outside water spigot for me.

I need to do some house cleaning and hopefully spend a bit more time on the Bridge.

Catch you all later!
