My dad is 54 and still drives across country to Virginia to see my sister who goes to school there. More than 600 miles.

My father WISHES he was fifty-four again. I tell him to keep dreaming.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes while they are still in season, lots of real NYS Maple syrup, and a pot of dark roast coffee to start my day.

Keith, good to see you again!  Sounds like you have some good plans for the layout....

Ulrich, glad to make the move in your absence.  Glad you are OK!  Would be nice if they could figure out what ails you and get it cured though.

Thanks,. Johnboy, It is all part of the fun of the hobby.  If you ever get up here to the Rochester, Ny area, I would be glad to give you a personal tour of the Museum!

Supposedly my son is borrowing the trailer to haul some plywood to fix his rotted cellar entryway cover.  He borrowed the trailer a year ago to do that but never did go and buy the plywood to do the repair even though the trailer sat at his house for the entire winter....  This time I will be going with him to help hime move the plywood around back of his house and make sure I get the trailer back!

Should mow lawn again today...  We shall see how much time i get.  Tonorrow I have two doctors appointments, a retired teachers meetingt about health insurance changes, and a Pack/Troop committee meeting.

Doubt I will get a wiole lot done on the RR Project today or tomorrow.  Have a good one!

Jeff - that is interesting. I remember my grandfather being on crutches ( crippled with hip injuries ) talking about going up on the Mtn. cutting up some wood and hauling it down. Its the old saying "there may be snow on the mountain top BUT there is a fire in the furnace " !

Johnboy - Thanks Life is GOOD again.

Cuda - sounds like that w**k locatrion is deadsville. Hope you get out of there soon before you starve to death !

Jeremy - sounds like you are finally feeling better

Garry - Happy belated birthday young man !

Howmus - got a kick out the C caboose comment on teh old thread. Nice video was teh second unit a caboose also ?

Ulrich - DONT GIVE up. You know you might think Washington state is great BUT I would like to invite you to good ole Virginia - to the "piedmont region" it is beautiful and lots to do here. And trains everywhere you look !

Kieth - what is it you are holding in your picture ?

Well life is going well with this newly married man. Kids love the new bride, her dog and cat are moved in and this weekend she let me indulge my hobby by ordering a bunch of N&W stuff, going to see a layout ( she went with us ) . I painted, unpacked , cleaned , repaired and went shopping with her. Guys I think I have a humdinger ( as Red Skelton used to say ) of a lady. Each day just keeps getting better. Welp went back to w**k today and now I have a LOT of catch up to do.

Yep, the second unit is our PC Caboose.  It is a good one for our museum as it was built at the Merchants Despatch shops in East Rochester, NY.  That caboose is a Steel Transfer Caboose as opposed to the Erie which is a Road Caboose.  More info here.

OH.......  Happy Birthday Garry!!!

Got some grocery shopping done this morning. I don't seem to have a problem with cheese. Tomorrow lunch will consist of ham and cheese on Ritz crackers. Got a doc appointment at 10:45 in the morning. He won't have to take out any staples. None to take out. The sites were pretty sensitive and red last night and there was drainage from them that was getting me concerned. So I checked the incisions very carefully to make sure they were healed shut then very carefully snipped the staples in the middle and gently removed them. Took about an hour and a half. The sites were very sore at first but now can't feel them at all. Called the doc and let him know what I did. He says it sounds good and he can clean up the sites tomorrow, no problem. The drainage may have been the start of an infection. Seems I can almost get one these days by thinking about it. The sites are very neatly dressed and taped.

Good Evening,

First of all, a Happy Birthday to Garry!!  So how does it feel to be 70 or was that 39? Must have been 39.

Not a lot going on up in my neck of the woods. Today was very pleasant weatherwise with a temp of about 72F and sunny but that has now changed with rain expected overnight and tomorrow. We took my MIL out for lunch today to her favourite resaraunt and then went out to the English Gardens at the City Park. A very pleasant day altogether. There is a hint of fall in the air now and a few yellow leaves on the trees by way of confirmation.

Nothing happening on the RR front. We have been busy with binoculars as in researching and doing a test on a couple of pairs. My wife wants a good pair for birdwatching and also for the Africa trip next year. Many are just too heavy for her so it is either the Meopta 8x32 or Swarovski 8x30. Both have their strong points. The Meoptas are quite amazing but a little heavy. I had never heard of them before we saw them at Cabelas. Turns out they are made in the Czech Republic and that they make a lot of military equipment. They also are less expensive for the quality but still they aren't cheap. While at Cabelas they had a really neat pair of compact ones that I liked as I can put them in a shirt pocket. They are made by Swarovski and they had one pair left at a good discount so I got an early birthday present.

Ulrich, glad to hear you checked out ok.

Today I pulled out the ballast I bought for the N scale layout. I plan on doing most of the ballast before I put down the ground cover which is opposite to what I did on the HO layout and I guess is contrary to most guide books but I found that when I ballasted last, some grains of ballast bounced onto my nice ground cover and didn't look very good. It took a long time to pick it up with tweezers. I am also debating using the WS fine which isn't all that fine but you can easily see it unlike the stuff made of real stone that is super fine and likely more to scale but N scale stones are so small the human eye can't really see it well so I think is will just look too smooth. Any ideas?

Well time for TV.

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer pleases

Work if you want to call it that. YGW yep I thinking it might be time to look for another job. Sigh Today, I all most read a whole 350 page book! Sad thing I do like the job, and the last two months had been my best months. If I can get out of the Fairview Hight store and back in to the St Charles store I might stand a chances. But, I just hate the drive!

Gary I sure you are on the road by now, but Happy B-Day anyway. Sorry I missed it this morning.

Workout Between the bladder infection, walking Sparkie The Rocket Dog and being depressed about this last sale weekend at work it has been a while again. No, I have not gave up, but life keeps getting in the way. Well tonight I did find time to lift (Sparkie got walked when I was done) and over all I was pleased. Up either Reps or weight on all the exercises. Was real happy with the bench press! I added 5 pounds to the warm up set. Got two sets with the medium weight with no problem then added another 5 pounds on the last set. Last rep was number 9 and a real struggle I did lock out and got it on the upright! Big Smile

 See you all later, Ken

Good Morning Folks!

We are enjoying nice Autumn weather in my neck of the woods. It´s sunny, not a cloud in sight, and temperatures will reach a comfortable 22°C during the day. The night was quite cold though, we have to turn the heater on in the evenings now.

No plans for the day, not even a HD list! We may go for a walk to enjoy the sun

August/September is the best time of the year in my neck of the woods.

Johnboy - I have sent you a PM!

Have a good one!

Keith, good to see you again! Sounds like you have some good plans for the layout....

Ah Thank you very much.  One of the 3 minds I'd always ask and get information,  the other two... Ulrich and Jeff.  At least you understand it.. lol.  For the past 5 months I've been thinking about it.  Before that I was 'thinking abot thinking about it'  Well lets think about it.

1.  All the knowledge you could gather on making a 'Train Yard'  Including the time era.  Mine happens to be Steam era so all the various things that go with it.  No biggie.. but wait.. there's more.

2.  A Train station that has two sets of Arrival / Departure.. that is, one on either side.  Highly unlikely but never the less I wanted a train parked with another one arriving on the other side.

3.  A Yard lead with all kinds of switches for various actions.. but in short.. I have to sit down think about what is going on.. and what is it I want.   Well I want to be able to pull in with freight and passengers.. I want to be able to drop off freight as well as pick up more frieght as well as pick up additional cars.

Well for me .. its not that easy.  But in short.. I'm actually sitting down and trying to figure out what is going when the train arrives and leaves.

Did I mention the cost?  Yikes.. you want to build a Train Yard?  Imagine the cost of switches and various sizes needed.  You feel like buying extras.. cuz there's never enough.

My biggest fear is I'll be done and find out .. ITS ALL WRONG!

Take care.. see ya all tomorrow..

Keith

Howmus - what is a "transfer caboose " ? Looked through your photo bucket pictures. Really impressive. Was the shop featured in the MRR ?

Cuda - i would start looking now. If you wait until finances have hit critical mass you loose power over the next job selection or demanding better store for sales.

Jeff - wht grocery stores do you have down there in LA. Up here we have - Giants, Safeway, Food Lion, Aldi , Walmarts plus a few others.

CN Charlie - AFRICA ! You are going to "Ebola" Africa ? You are a brave couple !

Ulrich - can you switch to N scale and take less room ?

Johnboy - I have resent the PM as a reply to your previous PM. For whatever reason, sending you a new PM did not work. The address has not changed, though.

YGW - N scale is too small for my ailing eyes and hands. I built an N scale layout following Japanese prototype only a few years ago. I still have it, but is all packed up and stored in the attic. You can read about it here:

N scale layout

I love Colorado narrow gauge railroads. For my final layout before retiring as a model railroader, I´d like to have a layout representing the atmosphere which I was able to experience in 1974, when I had the chance to take a ride from Durango to Silverton. That trip made me buy the D&RGW T-12. I´d rather have a K-27 or K-28, but I could not afford the brass models available in those days. I wish I could afford one of those beautiful Blackstone models today - big Sigh

Keith - I share your fear. I´ve just gone through that experience with my attempt of a On30 layout. The pictures I posted don´t show all the mistakes I made...

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a couple of the sour cream glazed dounuts to dunk in my Seneca Lake Dark Roast coffee this morning.

I'm sneaking in here between Doctor's office visits today and before the meetings on the schedule.  Just got home from the podiatrist.  He made a new cast of my foot to make an other pair of the lifts I use for flat feet, and while he was at it took another layer off the callous on my left foot.  Next appointment is this afternoon at the allergist (ENT) office.  It is my yearly checkup.

Howmus - what is a "transfer caboose " ?

A transfer Caboose is a caboose used for making short runs and mostly daytime runs.  They were used when moving a string of cars from one railroad's yard to another's.  As in "Transfering" the cars from one RR to another.  That caboose worked it's whole life in the Rochester area in service between nearby yards of various railroads.  Many are still used today in work trains as the office and tool car.

Thank you sir!  I assume you are talking about the Blacksmith shop?  You have probably seen the photos I have posted  here and over across the street in the WPF threads.  Also put in shots of my progress here in the coffee shop from time to time.  I spent 2 years from start to finish on the shop.   It was mostly uncharted territory for me, as I had to figure out how I would make the shop and what order things had to be done in to make it work.  I am pleased on how it turned out.

Currently 73°F here in the Finger Lakes under Partly skies...  Sun was out this morning, but has now disappeared behind some dark clouds.  theyv are calling for a 0% chance of rain today so I am watching the skies closely for some major storms to appear out of nowhere....Whistling

Best get to doing some needed stuff.  Later!

Good Afternoon,

A rainy, somewhat cool day here in the GWN which is my excuse for not doing much. I have a few small painting jobs to get done but it is too damp.

YGW, we aren't going to the part of Africa where the ebola outbreak has occured. That is around Nigeria and we will be in Botswana and South Africa. Most of the time we won't be near many people as we will mostly be in very small bush camps on safari. The only real danger would be from wildlife and only if you are foolish. The exception might be snakes as they have black mombas there which are absolutely deadly. I saw one once but not near to me so I wasn't in danger. Lucky I knew that black mombas aren't black but are really dark grey.  Besides the medical care available in SA is as good as here. The only doctors from foreign countries that can practice in Canada without taking exams are from the US, GB and South Africa.

The migration of the geese has now started so it is officially fall here. I saw several Canada Geese flying over our house last night. Many thousands of them come through our city as we are on major flight path for their migration. Many stick around right into November much to the chagrin of people who live on the many little lakes that where built in the newer developments.

See you soon,

CN Charlie

Good afternoon. It's 88° with 60% humidity. The high will be 95° with a small chance of rain.

Went to see the doc this morning. He was very favorably impressed with the job I did removing the staples and he confirmed that I headed off an infection. He got news back on the liver biopsy. The cirrhosis could be due to one of two things. He doesn't know which yet. Option A: I could have contracted hepatitis C from my mother (she contracted it many years before I was born) and became immune to it or option B: I could have had a condition known as Nonalcoholic
Steatohepatitis or NASH
. I'm no lightweight. At one time I weighed over two hundred sixty pounds for an extended period. He's going to send me to a liver specialist for an examination. My liver is working properly and isn't displaying any danger signs.

Nothing planned for today so I guess I'll be watching TV.

thought I'd pop my head in and say hi.

I have had lots of things to attend to. Matters of the car accident {got rear ended}, and Things are still not completed over the car accident.

Then there are the other medical things between MOH and I. MOH has the pagets disease, apparently it only is atgtacking the right hip, and chances of it spreading are less. Most likely its either always been there and waited till aging to "come out" and make its dreaded appearance known, or developed slowly over time.

I have calcific tendonitis in boht shoulders, in short I have calcium deposits, rather large ones, in the tendons of the shoulders. It hurts like hocky sticks, limits range and motion, and to "fix" can be as simple as "needling and lavage" to full on open rotator cuff surgery! {which I may have to go away to get done}. I see the ortopedic surgeon the 23rd and he will determine if MRI is needed, I think it should as it will give better Ideas of what exactly is there{and I HATE MRIs as I get claustrophobic in an elevator, and the "open one is STIlL to close fro my comfort-only the sides are open, its like two pancakes on top eacah other. According to all I have read the "painful period" should only last 1-2 months, HAH! the rt shoulder has hurt for over a year, and the left for over 6 months! Just every time I was at my Doctor, we either never talked about it as I was there for other reasons, or he suggested switching hands with the cane, which obviously did not help! I'll bet he was surprised to find out what was really wrong!

Jeffrey:I see Jeffrey had his gall bladder out, good riddance I say! It took them 5 years to decide mine had to come out, and I paid a dear price in sickness and agony for those 5 years. I was told to "stay away from fats"" after ward as the bile isn't any longer there to digest it and break it down, but trial and error will help you adjust your diet like you are doing. I am lactose intolerant and since everything seems to have dairy products of one kind or another, It can be hard to tell if it is a no-no to eat what for which reason. I am surprised he put staples in, i had regular stitches for the 3 1" incisions I had to take it out. I still see your medical history is still no bed of roses. I understand about all but loosing external body parts. Of corse, right after I was released fromt he surgery, when i was out driving out soon after,  I went blind going HypOglycemic and had to pull over beg an unknown neighbor to call 911 for me, he thought I was a lunatic! They told me as they raised my sugar adn my sight came back "it will go away". HAH! that was some 20 years ago! I am STILL HYPOglycemic, and they say that puts me into a spot to turn diabetic any time.

Ulrich:Don't feel disheartened. I had/have my 3.5' x 5.1' HO layout I wanted to expand to 4.2x6.5',but there really is NO ROOM in that room for it. If the furnace did not intrude into that room, MAYBE I could have. And It gets used to store everthing we don't know what to do with. I had it nice and cleaned up, one wall all for storage, all else in the closet, and it was neat and tidy when I built the layout, then it got filled with cast-offs, the old dehumidifier, the extra toilet tissues large packages, paper towel large packages, cat little large containers, tool storage cabinet and other stuff so much it is hard to even walk in the door now! One of these days I have to get to the closet and clean it out, as most in it is my old stuff and since I haven't seen it since, oh, about 2005, I don't even have a clue what I have saved in there! I am pretty sure, then, that most can go out as garbage. age is a cruel master and it is too bad You can't go "z". I would love to do "z" and have it in an "underbed plastic storage container"! but I am still able to function with "z" so I think I could handle the project! I just might have trouble getting the cars on ther tiny track still. I haven't touched or bought any tain stuff in, golly 3 years  now, and i am amazed at all the stuff I have accumulated! MORE than I could use on a 5x20' layout! i am seriously tying to decide to bone up and get "packages' togetheer, get a new digital camera and set up ebay account to sell off some/lots/all of my stuff.

HOBBY:  You know after getting into the trains {a hobby which MOH DID share in N scale, but wants only european locos that cost $500 imported}, afteer a while, I said "NO MORE HOBBIES", then there came the kilt obsession, and celtic heritage {MOH is welsh} hunt-downs. I now own a purple/blue/black kilt tartan called "Pride of Scotland"  and a red/green tartan  kilt  called "celtic heritage"{red is my favortie color, but man that purple is great too}. I have the dress shirt and vest and sporan to go "formal" with either, or the "swashbuckler" shirt and sporan {which I HATE wearing} for the "casual look". ONLY it doesn't stop there!!! I had to have kilt pins, too, I forgot to mention those, and I have my family tartan in green and red/blue for scarfs for winter, and OF COURSE I HAVE TO get the Red/blue clan tartan kilt NeXT year! Fortuantely we found the heritage crests for MOH's historical Welsh family and my family crest and had a blended double herald banner made with our first marriage date and the renew of vows date enblazoned between the two. Then there came two charts of the heralds explanations too, all 8 1/2x11. MOH wants to find more welsh heritage too, {but FIL stopped searching when he got to the welsh individual who left for america, and did not search into the welsh history which MOH would like to know more about} and apparently has some Irish too, {as Do I as well}. This has all turned out to be a "hobby" too! Whatever will be next?

Since I am fairly "out of practice" with the trains, I feel as if I no longer belong here. I know the dienr is not all about trains only, but I do feel I shouldn't belong,a dn I as sure there are quite a few who would be just as glad I left.

well, this has been different. I may periodically stop in, but don't on regular morning openings and "intersting tidbits" so much any more.

later, dinner is late, don't know what yet, probably heat N Eat as yesterday I got my quarterly spinal nerve injections! I made the mistake of going ot the grocery store this morning and filling a basket, "carry out" is nice, but MOH had already left for work by the time I got home, so only me to "carry in"! Heat N Eat means I am not so long on my feet cooking. Frozen bag of dinner. Spent a whole $170 I could not believe it! I stopped counting at $100 as that gave me a coupon for extra $0.40 off gas i coudl use, but did not realize I had gone $70 over! Now have $0.72 off a gallon gas, up to 20 gallons at the sunoco. last filllup on coupon was a lot off so I paid just about $2.00/gallon for 17 gallons, not bad!

Geeked

-G .

Just my thoughts, ideas, opinions and experiences. Others may vary.

 HO and N Scale.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Just because you had your gall bladder taken out soesn't there's no bile for digestion. Your liver creates bile. The gall bladder just stored and concentrated it. There's still more than enough flowing into your small intestime to do the job. So far only a very few foods have caused me a problem and the doc says that soon I should be able to eat those too.

Tomorrow I have plans to pack up my camera and tripod and go The Veterans Plaza in town and photograph every wall and monument on the site. The names listed there are of US veterans, living or dead from or living in Vernon Parish. My name is among them. My parents names are listed there as well. My family and I, along with many others contributed funds to have the park built. It's located in downtown Leesville. It's free and is open to the public.

Evening all.  Currently watching that show abouit the Alaska Railroad on Animal planet?

Tomorrow is 8-3 tomorrow working, and hopefully there was an error in the counting of the money at the store, or else I gotta pay 15 dollars that disappeared from my draw between being counted and etc.  Well anyway, after work, enjoyable work on the model railroad club I belong to.  Well, enjoy the night all..oh, does anyone in here run steam programs on their modern layouts?

(My Model Railroad, My Rules)

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway.  As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer Pleases. Yes Flo, I am here earlier than I should be.

Work Front. I don't know if it was because the store was so hot, bladder infection or low sodium but at 4:00 PM I was told I looked like I was ready to faint and to go home. I was glad to get out of the store, I felt like caboose!

Galaxy Sure glad you found your way back to the dinner! Hope all goes well with your current problems.

New Layout Idea I did some messuring tonight and the garage is 19 feet wide and 25 feet deep. My 68 Road Runner is 7 foot wide and 17 foot long. My idea is using sort of a folded dog bone with a 12 foot long pop up roll out section by the garage door. I will post some rough drawings in a few days.

 See you all later

He can always do what I do. Think positive and look at the bright side. It could be worse. I've been so far down the scale I was in my car at one point. To put it in the local vernacular, it don't get much worse den dat!

Good evening. It's rather nice here. A 20% chance of rain tonight and 40% tomorrow with the high in the low 90's to make it really steamy. It doesn't dampen my enthusiasm for tomorrows photo shoot though.

Tried a new peanut butter today. It's a honey roast blend. Good but real sweet and it has quite an aftertaste. Looking at my calendar I see my next doc appointment is on the 8th.

Tonight my right knee is giving me problems so it looks like I'll have to take my leg off and give my knee a good massage.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Today I watched a few Knight Rider episodes then I watched Godzilla reduce Tokyo to rubble and toothpicks.

Evenin folks!

Janie, I could sure use a nice hot cup of decaf to help me relax tonight.....  Thank you Ma'am!

Been a very long and ionteresting day today...  Actually a good day I think.  Had an appointment with the Podiatrist this morning.  Took a plaster cast of my feet to make another pair of lifts for me.  I will now have two pair so I don't have to spend so much time moving the ones I have from one set of shoes to another.  He also pealed a bit more skin off the callus on my left foot.  He told me the callus is from a bone spur I have in that foot and it will continue to return.  As we talked he mentioned that yesterday he had to amputate a man's foot and was amazed that an hour later the guy was released from the hospital and on his way home.  He said when he first started working the guy would have been in the hospital for at least 3 days...  The doc is only about 40 BTW.  I mentioned an online friend of mine named Jeffrey and how he lost a lower leg to Charcot (sp), is diabetic, and can't feel anything in his other foot....  The doc threw his head back and said, Oh, I hate to see people come in with charcot!  That is absolutely the worst thing for me to have to treat because it is never a good outcome for the patient.  He marvelled at how much Jeffrey can do with all his difficulties.  He wishes you well, Jeffrey!

After lunch I had my yearly check with the allergist.  I forgot to bring the flash drive in the CPAP, so I will take that down next week.  I will also be stopping the allergy treatment for the fungus as I have been on it for 3 years and she thinks I should now not the allergy.  We will check in 6 months to see if I start getting ear infections again.

Right after that, I went over to the community center for a School Retirees meeting about our health insurance through the school.  Thanks to the teachers association and the State Union Rep, they have worked with the district negotiators to get a "Memorandom of understanding" on the insurance offered to us.  I might just say there were no disagreements on the issue with any of the parties and it just needed to get wording set down to make it binding among all the parties.  When we retired there was a verbal agreement on how much we would pay for insurance (% of cost) with the district.  For many, many years one of the perks of working here was that, although we had the lowest salary of any large district around, we would be taken care of in retirement for our insurance.  Only problem is that it was never put in any contract... (for instance my sister made over $5,000 a year more just down the road... Her insurance is also with her school policy, but she pays dearly to have it there.  Still cheaper than some other options.)  Since verbal agreements aren't legally binding, we could have been nailed with many thousands of dollars in back costs since we retired (talking tens of thousands for some people like me) and then have to pay 100% of our insurance if we wanted to keep it with the School.  The memorandom basically says they will not make anything retroactive for payments and will keep our percentages as they have been.  We will have some choices on some riders on the insurance as options that we would pay for ourselves completely.  They are also dropping a Medicare Part F coverage that many (most) of us are on.  That will be replaced with the new policy and may change/add a few things we have to pay out of pocket....  We all breathed a sigh of relief and are thankful our district will honor the intentions of many years ago when we worked there.

Came home from that, recharged the car, ate a small supper, and headed to Canandaigua for a Troop/Pack committee meeting.  That was a productive meeting and hopefully the year will be off to a good start.  That was for the handicapped units.

The best part of the day was late afternoon before the Committee Meeting, I got an email saying that the RIT Train Club had finally beeen able to get us rooms at RIT for the Convention.  It will be a month later than we had originally hoped and will be right in the middle of finals for the kids ion the club.  But the club will be able to man the layout without too much difficulty during the weekend and so Mortimer Junction Convention is finally on the books!

Hey!  Is that Galaxy sitting in the back?  Good to you you guy!  Do pop in every now and then and let us know how you are doing at the very least.  You sound better than the last time you were in.  I was worrying about you....  Big Time!

Time to hit the hay!  Prayers for all in need,. and some who arn't, or something like that....

I certainly thank him! And you did spell charcot correctly. It's a very bad condition to be saddled with. Anybody who says it isn't doesn't know what they're talking about or is much dumber than even they think. They should find out as much as they about it then walk a mile in that persons shoes. Good luck on that with my shoes. Today I can wear regular shoes but for years I had to have my shoes custom made. I wouldn't wish Charcot on anyone. It's too cruel and unusual. It can absolutely destroy the quality of your life as it did mine.

Hello Everyone,

This is a 4 day weekend, so that makes it a good one. The more days off...under the right circumstances...the better.

So it's been more than a year since I started on these forums and I've given input over 250 times. Until now I haven't shown anything of what I am doing...despite opening a photobucket account many months ago.

My layout is 14 x 19 x 10 in a 'C' shape and takes up my living room, dining room, and kitchen. I model both the Reading and Conrail (I grew up with the Reading and later worked for Conrail). On my railroad the Reading and Conrail are separate but co-exist. An 'alternate reality' of sorts. Time frame covers 1975 to 1984. The layout is eastern Pennsylvania and Maryland in it's visual geography. Generally I don't model specifics...but there are a few features that are strong renditions of places in SE Pennsylvania especially my hometown of Reading. I've chosen to run with DC, both for economics and to show a world of ever changing technology what model railroading was 40 years ago.

This is just a few images to get started. This is a location on my layout based on the place in Reading Pennsylvania known as 'Spring'.

Well...enough for now. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
