The movie "Charlie Wilson's War" is excellent. Best movie I have seen in quite awhile. Good banter all the way through and very entertaining. Interesting message at the end.
All we have on tap for NYE is making sure our kids get from point A back to home safely. We are going out for a family dinner before the kiddos take off.
Cowboys really stunk it up today. No real playoff contender looks that bad in a loss.

Although cool and cloudy again today it was the first day we've had dry roads in quite a while. Of course that all ended this evening with another sprinkling of the dreaded four letter S word. Calling for another 10-15 cms. New Years eve.
Visited the LHS today. Got some detail items, a copy of Feb. CTT ( Nice going Mr. Apitz! ) and a first look at Legacy. I was disappointed to find MY pre-order of Legacy was not there though. After waiting over a year it would have been so easy to blow a traction tire, go off the rails in a rant and demand their demonstrator model. I certainly wouldn't deny anyone else theirs but it's really tough listening to Legacy reviews from others while I remain without. Oh well, keep on giving us info on Legacy and I'll keep on holding my breath for a few more weeks (months?). I was actually able to help out one of the shop staff with Legacy. He was trying to run a Lionel TMCC equiped engine in Cab1 mode. Switching to TMCC mode solved his woes.
Just so as you know, I'm not stuck in Command Control mode. Couldn't help oogling a PW SF 6220 NW2 at the shop. I'd like to know more about these and it's sister the 622.

Are you refinishing a post war NYC F3? I'm not savvy enough about NYC stripe patterns to know what was prototypical and what wasn't. I'n my mind, only what Lionel did back in the day is what counts.
I have ideas on how you could procede, but I'd need to know more. Redoing a Lionel post war? Lay one down on its side and photocopy or scan it. Use the old stripe pattern as a template to create a new decal using drawing or photo manip software.
I'd love to see photos of your project to illustrate what you are trying to accomplish. I'll bet I could help you.
Speaking of scenery Doug, last night at the dinner party I attended, someone asked me to paint some backgrounds for their in-progress O gauge layout. And when my sons heard that, they asked if we could make new ones for our layout. Going to be busy painting backgrounds soon.

Haven't posted in a few days. Have a rotten cold that has me sniffling, coughing and hacking. Started Christmas evening, hope it is almost done. I can scarcely believe I have only two more days and then it is back to work. Have not felt like doing anything train-related. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that Santa brought you something with flanged wheels. I got nothing train related, but then again, I did not ask for anything.

Brutus try plumbers tefflon tape should add enough friction without locking them in place for good. I have used this in the past and it worked great. I used Locktight on one. Broke the head of the screw off trying to remove it, that's when I decided to try the tefflon tape.

Yes Marty, my US Airways miles are going to be cut way back. Hardly any at all I hope. The Mayor's job is almost full time. Pro Mariner will take second page now. BPS and Cabela's also have "jamed" all of their spring events into about 4 to 6 weeks. Before, they were spread over 3 months. Can't be in three or four places at one time. Hope all the NC,SC and VA events are not scheduled for the same Thursday through Sunday. If so, I will be flying a few more than planned. Just turned down a Cabela's Grand Opening in Post Falls ID in Jan. Not for me. Too much snohio then. Also the BPS in Baton Rouge in Feb. Would have gotten home two days before the Company's free cruise for the wife and I.

More Legacy fun. I tried a PulMor motored engine. I really don't see the inprovement here that I did on my no Legacy engines sorry to say. Seems to groan and moan as before. To be honest though it was a steamer that never really did perform all that great before so it could be a poor test.

Just saw on RMT website they are going to do 2 Beeps in the Ohio Central livery, may have to break open piggy bank and get one.
Just discovered an old newspaper artical about Columbus and Model Railroading it appears that there is an O gauge train club in Columbus Ohio called O-Scale Engineers they are the ones who put up the display at Kingsdale shopping center/mall for the holidays.

That is good to know if I ever get a set of 2344s. I'm not bad at mixing paints to get an exact match. I wonder how close Wood's restoration paints are to the original Lionel gray...
I also wonder if you could approximate the Lionel zig zag stripes with either a second set of decals or the set you have, judicously cut on an angle and dropped slightly lower.

Been as busy as a one-armed paper hanger. I got up early to help bride as she is driving her mom to Florida to winter over. Wife drives down then flys back, to fly down in the spring and drive her mom back north. Wife has been doing this for around 10 years. Spends about a week in FLorida but most of the time it is working to get her mom's camper set up from being closed up. There is usually at least one thing that is broke and she will fix. Ever talk someone through a faucet change out over the phone?
In our town we have contractor supplied trash cans we had to go to. Once they got the bugs worked out, it is OK, but it seems to take longer as the trucks break down more often.
Garage roof is on hold for a week. Went to pick up the metal roofing and it was the wrong size! Lowes is wearing on my patience. Not many nice days that coincide with being off and yesterday and today I am off, and yesterday was beautiful! Today is overcast and cold, but at least it's not raining.

Chilly here and supposed to be in the 20's again tomorrow so Wifey just went out to pick up a new coat and some odds and ends. My friend Dave Duncan is supposed to call in a while and we'll go see the new Alien versus Predator movie! Can't wait, it looks great! Got more blue threadlocker from Wally World yesterday and need to go fix Buford.
BFOC NOTES: Running forward tends to unscrew the rod screws on the rear wheels of the loco. Well, I found out the front wheel screws that hold the rods are threaded in reverse, since running in reverse unscrews them! Also, it's a bad idea to threadlocker the actual rod! The one screw that I lockered before has worked out perfectly. The second one, I lockered the rod too! Working that out loosened the rod but also that screw again. Running it backwards unscrewed the front screws! So, I'm going to carefully threadlocker the 3 screws, let dry, oil up the screws where the rods attach, and then see how that works.
Don - my folks live in Kirkwood MO. They have a long driveway that wraps around one side of the house and the garage doors are in the back! Well, when I was a kid, the trash truck would back down the driveways all up and down the street and get the trash cans from the side of the house by the garage doors etc, I guess this was valet! At some point, they changed it to pick up at the curb. One nice thing they have started doing during the fall when the leaves are dropping like crazy - you can just rake your leaves to the curb right along the front of your property, into the street really, and they come along with a big truck and suction them all up!

Don, our green waste [yard waste] is piled at the curb 24 hours or less from everyother Tuesday morning. No bin. This includes leaves and limbs from trees. My leaves go on the garden and are disked in. Limbs go to the pond woods so the rabbits and birds can hide from the foxes.
Chief--you can annex us IF you provide two round trip tickets and seven nights lodging to Wilmington in the spring. We are available the 3rd week in April, let me know how to proceed with my neighbors.

We have our residents move their own carts [furnished by the company on contract] to the curb and retrieve them. This was to cut down on increased costs for solid waste pickup. Same with your recycle bin.
Now Jon, yuo just gave me an idea. We have been given Legislature approval to do satellite annexations. Wonder if we could do parts of Iowa?

Well appearently a lot has happened around here since my last full cup of Joe. Any who... I really wish the software would change so I can hit reply, then log in, then post. But I digress. Lots of Legacy learning going on at Kodiak Junction. Found a few quirks that I passed on nothing big and nothing wrong just things I'd like to see change.
Had a pretty good Christmas but now only 2 days left of vacation. The we ramp up for awards season. I'll try to post more but for some reason of all the forums this one gives me the most issues logging on from other locations. Take care all. I'll be monitoring the Legacy threads. Unfortunately seem NY, Jon and Mark are primarily monitoring OGR.
