Good evening all,

Did spray weeds today on sidewalk.  So much faster than trimming.  Will do this from now on.  Tried to listen to Indy car Pocono but bad wreck at start put  the kibosh on that.  TK dropped out early on AJ's team, but Liest did finish in 11th.  Wife and I did a puzzle.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I also have some modern conventional engines but in F-units ( southern and B&O ) but I also have modern conventional 2346 ( Paul Revere engine) never tried to run it lol. I have trains that have never been on the track. Some just tested on 3' or 6' section. I'm thinking now days, do I really need any more. The logical answer would be no. But will I buy more? yes. Who knows why other than addition lol. I have tmcc engines also, I've never run some. Some still new in there boxes, ( another F-unit Southern and a A-B-A of B&O where one power A and a power B (tmcc ) Trying to remember all, I can't can you SJ or Dennis. Probably not. I'm starting to box up all my trains in hope to be moving them to the garage before to long. But still have a lot to do there first.

Evening all!

A short checkin. Another great day on the water with our friends. I wakeboarded a couple of runs - not bad for being almost 66! Activities conclude tomorrow when everyone flys home.

Oh, after dinner (pitza) the guys gathered to watch Sharknado 6 and the ladies went to the porch - all had adult beverages in hand!

Rob - we did a long boat ride (40 miles) up river this afternoon!

Regards, Roy

Mornin' boys.  Overcast with rain expected along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Bear apparently pulled down the bird feeder overnight (again).  I'll just piece it back together and re-hang it.  Wifey doesn't want it to go away, yet...

Talked to Fifepup last night.  He announced he's going to visit sometime this month.  That will make me happy.

This weekend, one of our engineers started teaching me how to start a GP30.  Lots of switches to throw, mechanical thingies to turn, and inspections to conduct.  BTW, EMD engines don't have E-units...

Youngest Princess's boyfriend gave her a ring...Daddy's reaction was priceless.  The girls drove to Shepperdstown to check out the campus, Wednesday.  Youngest will be a Ram next year, it looks like.  When did all this happen...?

V8Vega - That O-27 stuff will be of interest to someone.  When the grandsons or nephew visit me, I set up a loop of track and pull out the "unbreakables", and the boys love it.

I encourage you to rent a table at a local train meet, and just offer your O-27 trains.  Price it to move.  Bring a smile to someone's face.

As we get along in years, we start understanding we are just "caretakers" of our collection.  We hope that we can pass our trains along to someone who will love them, and do the same in the future.

Absolutely NOT!!!! Surprise No way... No way... No way...

Seriously Bud, congrats to her!

So you're moving from conductor to engineer? I'll have to arrange a cab ride!

Well, after the above announcements I forgot what I was going to say...

Sounds like all had a good weekend, The summer is closing out fast here and all the grand-kids are back to school.

I see someone has been messing with this software??

Dennis, I agree with the rest. Most of my stuff is O27 style but I like it and it will go down the line when I am done. I did pre order the Lionel BNSF TIER 4 set but it has not came in yet. That will be all for this year.

Fife a lot of congrats to you and your kids!  Wow Yeah

Roy, your only as old as you feel. Smile, Wink & Grin

Going to make a shot at making some Bail Maki steat on a stick tomorrow. Should be fun.

Good evening,

The trip to San Antonio was uneventful. I was happy to find a direct flight from Dulles to San Antonio, which means no layover in DFW and an easier day. As you would expect, it is crazy hot and humid here; it will be at least 100 degrees every day this week.

Rob - I am looking forward to college football season.  PSU lost some good talent, especially at RB.

Congratulations Fife!

Good day,

Joe

Good Evening from overcast 74°F Southern Ohio,

I had a great weekend.  Lots of grass cutting.  Saturday watched the HS football team scrimmage.  The team played very well I thought.  Gabriel had a couple of sacks and 5 or 6 tackles as nose guard and DE.  Offensively did OK, executed his blocks nothing outstanding.  He is now regretting not doing more weight training during the off season, he is a sophomore and 5’11” and 170.

We’re making more progress in the train room.  The glass shelves are up, and the shelves that needed to be cut and polished are at the glass shop.  I’m pleased with the outcome at this point.  Un-boxed more accessories and still positioning things for the layout.  We’re going to need to do a little track adjusting but we expected that.

Bride is doing OK with the meds for her heart, more tests are coming.  Hardest thing is she needs to back off from taking care of everybody else and focus on her needs.

Fife - WOW things are exciting around Fifedom

Joe - Good to hear from you

Dennis - As I’m going through the boxes of train stuff, I see a lot of duplicates, and I was wondering about thinning out the extras.  I may start a tub of stuff I’m willing to part with.  Maybe that is where you could start too.

Banks - An early fall?!?!  Leaves leaves and more leaves again.  Oh well.  It makes for a beautiful landscape.

Good Night and may God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

Muggy weather today.  Semi-busy day at work.  Just enough to keep it interesting.  The junior high kids waged an epic soccer match tonight, but came up a bit short, losing 4-3.  They spotted the visitors a 3-0 lead, came roaring back to tie it, and lost in the last ten minutes.  Closest we have to beating this team so that was good.  Have another game on Tuesday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

A quick stop here.  Hard to believe that it has been a couple of weeks since I last posted.

Been working through my 'get it done before retirement' list at work.  Just 4 more days.  Looks like I'll have enough to keep me busy right up until the last.  After that, I'll start in on my 'to do after retirement' list - much, much, much longer than the list at work.  At least it will be a while before I get board.

Been thinking about ordering one of the MKT NW2 switchers.  That will about use up this year's train budget.  Got to find a Griffendor box car too - Charles Ro was sold out of them.

All for now.

Hello there,

an uneventful day.

Fife.......congas on the pending nuptials. If you're driving the train who's filling the Red Suit?????

Noticed a couple of big flocks of birds lately. Today there was a flock of geese in the field, stopped by on the way south. Just sayin.....

8N.......prepare to be so busy you don't know how you had time to work.  Congas. You'll have more time to post.

Best get to sleep.

Prayers for those in need

Whoa, hold on cowpokes.  The ring was a boyfriend-girlfriend thing.  No picking out place settings for Alexis...not yet anyway.  Fifey's expression was no less priceless.  Middle Princess (our nurse) exchanging vows in 5 weeks.  Sorry for the confusion.  Still, those who've been watching the youngest grow up here (like Brent) just gotta be amazed how time flies.

Bird feeder survived last night.

Inside kind of day, so may work on layout.  Need to tack down AF loop.

Banks - Red is definitely in my future.  I'm not sure I'd ever want to handle a passenger train on 2.8% maximum gradient.  Shunting equipment around Ridgeley Yard would be more of my focus.

Fife - well, glad you clarified the princess ring, I had this long congratulatory speech re the circle of life prepared, oh well!

Kev - I certainly felt old the next day!

Taking it easy today.

Good Evening from sunny 74°F Southern Ohio,

Crazy weather.  It will rain, then clear up and be beautiful, then rain again, sometimes when it is sunny.

I did a little more arranging accessories on the layout and cleaned the glass shelves I installed.  I put a small workbench in the train room, and picked up a table from the high school they were throwing away to set the layout control panel on.  I also picked up a stool they were going to pitch because the seat was broken.  After repairs it should be just about the right height to sit on when running the trains.

8N - I like the idea of your “to-do” lists.  It feels good when you look back and see where your time and money went.

Fife - I agree 100%. Looking back on raising our daughters, and now raising our grandkids, it really blows your mind on how fast time and opportunities fly by.

Rich - Bring in the big bat! Good job

Brent - Hopefully it will be several years before we even need to think about “the question”.  Our girls are 14 & 15, but too cute for their own good.

The guys are running some post maintenance tests so I’m going to go see how things are going.

Good night and may God bless

Jim

Good evening all,

An epic battle tonight as the junior high kids won 4-2.  Both sides rained shot after shot on the goal but both keepers did outstanding jobs in the net.  The local squad got the early lead but the visitors answered back.  The local kids got a lead before the half and extended it to 4-1 and the away team got one back just before the game ended.  Wow.  Work was busy.  Still humid but hopefully the rain will get rid of that.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Well, went to see the oncologist yesterday. Will be changing from the Votrient, which seemed to be losing it's efficacy after reducing dosage to reduce the tough side efects. Early next month will be starting an immunotherapy program and see how that works out.

Had a moment of weakness over the weekend, "want vs need" and want won out. Ordered a LionChief+ Halloween Berk. Fortunately I got a pretty good price on it. Should be a real hoot at the museum and on the Halloween garage display.

Doug,

$2.599 was the gas. The beer was $4.91 a gallon. Or $13.83 for 30 cans. Laugh Wink
