Still too warm for this time of year. mid-90's...
Got the rest of the hardware I needed today, so tomorrow is the day to install all the mods to the boat lift. The mobile mechanic made his appt on time today to de-winterize the boat so that is done.
Banks - that bucket became quite the project - glad you have the skills to repair it!
Dennis - that is great! and an iPhone 6 to boot! I only have an iphone 5S. Watch for their iOS operating software upgrades, you need to install them when they come up. Sometimes the iOS upgrades cause some application you use to not work anymore, but most reputable application providers upgrade the software at the same time as Apple. So watch for application upgrades in the App Store notifications.
Best app? Google Maps ( you have to download it, the iPhone comes with Apple Maps and is good for finding places you want to go and directions). Google maps when opened shows Deep red (traffic is crawling or at a standstill), bright Red (traffic crawling but moving), Green, Yellow lines plus accident icons on roads so you can see which way you want to go to get somewhere. In the Dallas area, #4 or 5 for worst road congestion, I open Google Maps before setting out to see which highways are ok to venture onto.

I did get the grass cut on Tuesday but no trimming.
Son broke the corner out of the Skid loader bucket at the hill. He gathered up a new cutting edge and teeth today so rebuilding that is the next project. I'm guessing 2 or 3 days of cutting and welding on it.
Grandson got a turkey before school yesterday. I'll add a picture if I can figure out how to get it off facebook.

Got the hardware I needed today and everything is in place to do the boat lift mods. Have some other stuff tomorrow re getting the boat de-winterized, so lift mods may start on Sat.
Good Afternoon from wet 70°F Southern Ohio,
Good showers on and off since last night. The plants are really taking hold. One of the good things is it will test my repair to the downspout to drain tile splice I put in a few weeks ago. If it is leak free I can backfill the hole I dug out. It will be too wet to mow Friday and most likely Saturday, but I may try and use the weed eater with the brush blade. I sharpened the brush blade and put it on the new weed eater last night. I want to get the repaired exhaust fan back in the attic this weekend. We really could have used it to cool down the house these past few nights when it got into the 60’s. In conjunction with the fan, I also want to order two replacement screens from the place I bought the replacement window sash. This will put screens in all of the windows. Time to get ready for turnover to night shift coming in.

Sun and 70s today. No more rain till Saturday. I cut the grass yesterday and the ground is like a sponge from all the rain we had over the weekend. My wife has scrubbed everything in sight on the front porch and planted some flowers so I think the front is done. It sure is nice to get outside and see green grass, trees and flowers again.
Mornin' FellasWe are 3 days into a 5 day storm. I can't believe how much rain we've received over the past 3 days, and we're not done yet! Ground is soaked so deep there is no where for the additional water to go, so it just runs off. Lots of fun. Camping trip as been cancelled.Just tryin to stay dry!

Good evening all, well I finally got that bad tooth pulled today and it went well. They put me to sleep so it was over before I knew it. They had to dig out the roots and put in some stitches but I'm not having any bleeding now. Taking pain meds and antibiotics. Was concerned about whether I could get my partial in for eating but it worked out OK. Have to go back on the 22nd for follow up. Only bad thing today was I had to wait an hour past my appointment time due to a problem patient ahead of me. I had a friend take me and he had to stay there and wait for me. I was more concerned about his schedule. When they took my blood pressure this morning it was elevated but I'm sure it was caused by having to wait so long after I was ready to go. The oral surgeon apoligized all over the place for the delay but I told him not to worry because it was not his fault. Don, sorry to hear about your in law health problems. Hope things work out for them. Talking about your Iguana problem, I ran over a big lizzard in my driveway yesterday and killed him. I gave him a decent burial in the backyard. I have a small rock garden near the front of my house and they just love to live there. They come out on the driveway or walkway to sun themselves. They used to startle me but I'm getting use to them now. Maybe they will keep some unwanted insects under control. Have a good week all,

Depending on which drugs your Dad is taking and the cost involved look up the manufacturer to see if they have any kind of patient assistance program.
My cancer drug, by Novartis, was going to cost us about $3500 per month. Thankfully I qualified for their program otherwise it would have really hurt. Eventually Medicare would kick in after the fact but that initial cost was a killer.

Layout Update, Finished all my upgrade activity last week. Ended up removing a figure 8, and configureing two additional bypass tracks and a reverse loop, accomodating some O72 engines. Also moved buildings around, wired xing signals, non-derail (almost every switch), traffic lights, numerous electric signs. Overall spent the better part of year doing it. THEN this week saw where I could gain some alternative O72 capability by modifying two switches. So tore that up what I had done, and reworked it. NO MORE MODIFICATIONS!
A First - Last Saturday attended my first "None Wedding, Wedding". Kay's niece got married and we received the invitation about 6 weeks ago, and was to RSVP on line. So went on line and the invite indicated that we were invited to 2 of 3 events. (Hmmm) We were invited to the Cocktail Hour, and Dinner/Reception. (The invitees for the wedding ceremony was to be a private "immediate" family affair. Kay's parents (brides grandparents) received the same invitation as we did.
Unfortunate follow-up! Sunday after the wedding, the Bride & Groom were staying in a hotel in Newport Beach area before they left on there Honeymoon. While relaxing at the hotel's beach they were realaxing on the beach. He was laying on his stomach and the wind picked up the umbrella and came back down on him! The pointed end hit him in the back of the neck! He was immediately taken to ER and they were concerned about paralysis. Fortunately! He came out of it on Monday night after all kinds of testing and was released! Has to maintain low activity for a couple of weeks to promote healing. Terrible way of starting a marriage! Sure hope he makes a full recovery.
Lizard Update, I was hoping the Iguana was gone, but no such luck. Hadn't seen him for over a week, he was on the deck again today. Tried to catch him but that didn't work, this time Kay saw it and was quite upset. The thing made it to the block wall then up a tree, stayed up there all afternoon, about 30 feet or so. I'm wondering if Buckeye had anything to do with this? He was in Panama, and the Iguana's are indigenous to Central America.
Other than that, all is about the same, Kay's dad is still at the intensive care facility, and she is shuttling her mom around and doing errands. Some progress being made but not much.

Today was a great day! AJ's team was among the fastest in practice and were the fastest without a tow. My soccer team had their first game tonight and we won 7-1. I had a shot on goal....that went straight to the keeper, but it was on frame and a solid hit with good pace on the ball. Weather was nice for the walk and I got caught up on case reports. I hope everyone has a good day.

Busy day working on mods for my boat lift to reduce the stress on it. Got some help on validating the design from the company that sells the wire rope I use. They manufacture or supply all kinds of wire rope, from small architectural stainless to the stuff that a RR lift bridge uses. Buckeye - you'd be proud of me!
Buckeye retires and hits the road big time!
Well we survied the tornado warning in Buckeyeland last night. The sirens blasted every 7 minutes for a warning. Damage was reported south of Columbus.
Roy.... My thoughts exactly! The Panama Railroad looks like the KCS. Panama is getting to be the richest country in Central America and they take great pride in their railroad and new container ports. One of the newest container ports was built by and run by the Chinese.
Revised my cell phone plan today. I always had a company phone before retirement. Gas prices this am $2.65/gal. Don Baker, et. al. eat your heart out.
Can you see the Great Northern sign in the photo? This is the Izaak Walton Inn near the top of the Continental Divide in Essex, Montana. The Inn was built next to the railroad yard in 1939 for the use of railroad crews. The town is basically the railroad yard, the hotel and a few houses.

Bright sun, will hit the 80s later. All the rain they were calling for is now a no go. We only got .4" Monday night. Enough to set the fertilizer into action.
SS payday so bills and food today. Also a trip to Farm & Fleet for shop supplies and softener salt.
My Dr. apt went good Monday and he did not even yell at me.

They made some really good stuff that never has been very much appreciated. AJ's team was tail end Charlie today in practice. So fast in testing and so bad when it counts. Well all is quiet. Kids were good and the daughter is recovering from today's surgery. Don't think she has a clue what she is in for the next week or so. After all they broke her face to reset her nose. SIL picked up the kids a bit ago and they still have not got conformation what is truly wrong with their Equinox. But my bet is the timing chain again. Kids had a good time here and as I always said,,,,,,,,,,,just let them loose and watch, they will find things to do. They road the elect dirt bike and the elect JD and Jeep. Played in the gravel, looked for snakes, and ran around in the woods. No broken bones.
Well I am tired.

The Marx 999 Loco and tinplate set I bought off Ebay was delivered yesterday. It is in really nice shape. Caboose gondola boxcar and tanker show no rust or scratches and the loco has minimal wear on the pickup shoe. Just a little oil and grease and the loco ran and reversed great. Even the headlight worked. The track could be used as is but I’ll hit it with a scotch pad. Not bad for $75.
Roy - It’s like spring was shorted a few weeks
Buckeye & Banks - I’d prefer to get a Utility Trailer for moving the mower, and a ton of other things you can do with it, but I’m tight and $119 for some ramps beats $700 + for a trailer. If I find a deal on a trailer I’ll jump on it even if it will draw “the look” from my bride.

Mornin' FellasTheVPQ headed to Wisconsin today for an audit. Won't be home till Friday afternoon, hope she isn't late because this weekend is our annual camping trip with the Daisy Troop. Hard to believe Christina will be bridging to Brownies on June 1st. Storms last night really shook things up! Glad I got the lawn mowed on Saturday because we're do for storms just about every night though the weekend.Christina was invited to participate in a U9 soccer tournament in June. This is a big honor for her since she doesn't turn 7 till August, and typically they have to be 7-8 to participate. If she does well we may ask that she be bumped a level next Fall.Still waiting on bids for the porch work in Pittsburgh... seriously disappointed with these contractors.
