Yesterday was my first day back to work after 7 weeks on disability.  After I entered my office, I realized everything was just how I left it in September except for an exceptional high stack of mail.  The calendar was still on September and the clock was still on summer time. It took the computer about an hour to adjust to new items on the internal network, especially Lynx, our video conferencing software.  I called my boss in SC to catch up.  He is a really nice guy, unlike those Mayor’s from NC that send the police dogs after you. Whistling

Another problem MTH RealTrax switch.Bang Head  On my layout there are switches that are used heavy as they are on the mainline.  In this case the point has started to “float” and is setting too low such that the pilot wheels ride over the point.  Did a little bending and now it is working again.  For the newbies, I don’t recommend MTH RealTrax.  Type Buckeye and RealTrax into the CTT search engine to see some of the documentation about problem switches for the last ten years.

HI HO, HI HO it’s off to work I go!!!

Good morning all,

Waiting for nurse to show up this morning to change bandage on wife's skin cancer.  Don't know how to act with all these people showing up the last week to give medical and related care.

Sitting in my recliner yesterday and something broke inside.  Looks like a bolt was sheared off.  Come on now!  I'm not that heavy.  It was the type of bolt that screws into wood on the opposite end but has a bolt head on it.  Have to figure out how to get the sheared off part out of the wood.  I wonder if anybody repairs things like this chair?  I will see what I can find on the net.  My son has a recliner that he will give me but I have to see how the color will go with our stuff.

later,

Ray

Good evening all,

Supposed to be an easy day turned out to be a long one.   Leaf mulching took far longer than I thought it would and hanging one set of icicle lights outside took much much longer than it should have.  I think from now on I will get a new set each year and pitch the old ones.  Save time and stress.   Weather was nice, warm and dry today.  Going to turn to junk the rest of the year.  I hope everyone has a good day.

G'day all !

Sorry to disappoint you guys but with their first round pick the San Diego Chargers select the City of Carson. Laugh

Roy, The clouds that were rolling thru here earlier made it look like it was night time, no real rain yet, very light, but that and the wind is supposed to hit late this afternoon. What's blowing thru here don't take to long to get to Phoenix.

Tomorrow we start decorating for Christmas at the museum, want to make sure everything is ready for the first weekend of December. The first weekend is what was originally called "Christmas On The Prado" now it's called "December Nights", whatever the heck that means. I know, we must be P.C. Ick! We open late in the afternoon and close late in the evening with all the museums being free and all kinds of Christmas activities taking place in the park.

Later all.

Evening all!

SJ - thanks for update on Brutus' wife Char. She has had a tough time the last few years. Angel

Fifer - C'Boys working hard for a high draft pick also.

Dennis - sorry about your car.

JEFelec - John Happy B-Day

Lazy day somewhat. Cleaned gutters today. Amazing how many bushels of leaves can pack into a 4" x 3" gutter :(

Not sure why they are trying to run NASCAR in Phoenix tonight. They must not be looking at the radar.

Have a great evening all!

Regards, Roy

...and with the first pick of the 2016 draft, the Baltimore Ravens chose.......

Did get to see some cool WWII aircraft circling the neighborhood.  Appeared to be 3 fighters escorting a bomber.  You know something is different by the sound.  7 big bags of leaves at the curb, and steaks on the grill.

WWII planes, nice. Have a P-51 I keep meaning to figure out how to make appear to be in the air.

Sun and Hi 50s today. Pretty good for a Michigan November day.

Brutus is fine but his wife just can't seem to stay well without new issues springing up. A Lions game against GB at one, I'm sure they have already lost the game.

Good morning.

We are doing better here. 44 degrees with bright sun heading to 65.

SIL is in the tree stand. I did some squirrel hunting yesterday. Mad because it took two shots to get the one I was after. Winged his foot on the first shot.  Bang Head

Wow.  Middle of November already.  I was scanning all of the November posts and suprised to see that this is my first this month.

The last couple of weeks have been intense.  Two weeks ago, my wife's mother took a turn for the worse, so we ended up with an emergency drive up to Michigan.  Left her there, and I drove back home on that Sunday and Monday - 1500 miles between Friday evening and Monday afternoon.  Work is needy, so I ended up donating many extra hours.

Last Saturday, the train show/swap meet was held.  I was on the hook to display the Polar Express layout and another tabletop layout.  Fortunately, the local hobby shop (since closed) owners son was willing to run the Polar Express layout.  He is 12 and did a good job running it while I was running the other layout.  The Moe & Joe lumber car was as popular with the kids as ever.

This last week was another intense week at work.

Finally got to unwind a bit today.  Washed the car, got a hair cut, took a road trip to the next town to check out a new hobby shop (bought a Speedy Gonzlas missile car for a good price), filled gas in the van for $1.91/gal. (upset because I saw $1.89 at the next station), and vaccumed leafs out of the yard with the lawn mower.

V8 - I think it was you asking about states represented - I'm currently in Missouri.

Anybody heard from Brutus lately?

Looking forward to the F1 race in Brazil tomorrow.

A side note here, my boss told me to start getting travel documents prepared for a trip to Brazil sometime in 1st quarter of next year.  I'll be going to the Sao Palo area, so I told the boss that the planning was not very good - It won't be F1 weekend when I'm there.

All for now.

Good Evening All !

Belated comgas to Banks & Mrs Banks.

Happy B-Day to Jefelectric !

Kev, Sweet ABA set and Williams are the Timex of the trains, damn near unstopable.

Not going to say anything about the events in France, expressing my feelings bluntly would probably get me banned.

Friday was a good day at the museum, no gremlins or pileups. Thumbs UpThumbs Up Seemed like it was feast or famine as far as visitors was concerned.

Don, Get the shot, my BetterHalf had a real bad case of the shingles twice, she got the shot afterwards which will reduce the severity if she gets it again but not prevent it. I got mine awhile back, pricey but I believe it is worth the cost.

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous. When I go for my morning walk at 6:30 it is about 40*, it feels great. Nice and crisp.

Later all !

Good evening,

WOW what a great day for November 14th,,,,,,,,, I just worked outside all day, hit 64 degrees the weather guessers were way off the mark. Did some water diversion work on the front of the lane with the JD to force the water into the creek and not down the drive the next time the field water crosses the road. I did not ask anyone,,just did it,, F%$@ them they don't help pay anyway.

WOW V8 the guy must of been an Illegal if you hit him from behind and he let you walk. Smile, Wink & Grin Most would open the door then fall out and call their lawyer.

Going into the basement and run the trains with just me and my friend Mr. Miller.

EDIT   I remember now, I WAS going to buy a black ABA but didn't like the glossy black.

I am with you Jim on that. I sure like the Williams set better and I don't see many of them out there so when these came up I jumped. The B unit was never out of the box and the A units only were removed and put back in the boxes. The reason the speaker was out of place is because the engine fell off the counter here when I got them but was still in the original package so it must of fell out then.   Bang Head Easy fix and they do run great.

Jefelectric, Happy birthday if I missed it.Happy B-Day

The home care aid showed up about 4:00PM yesterday and helped us with some chores.  Nurse due this morning to change bandage on skin cancer.  Youngest adult son is home this weekend but has a cold.  Hope wife doesn't catch it before surgery next Friday.

Got a notice from the city recommending flood insurance for this winter due to the expected el nino rain.  Guess they are taking it serious.  There are some burned areas above us but quite a distance from us.  We live on an East West Street but water will flow down the North South Streets normally.  Only problem we might have is if the storm drains get clogged up which could happen.  Whatever! but I have to decide about the insurance.  Will ask the agent about cost next week.

Sun has arrived, wind has calmed. 39 this morning.

Happy birthday to Jefelectric just in case he stops by.

Always liked and wanted the black Santa Fe's but knew I would rarely run them so I  have always passed on them. They always get me to thinking about buying though. Williams was probably the best choice as K-Line was glossy black too as I recall.

Picked up a couple of the U.S.M.C. # 45 missile launcher engines one looked like it went thru WWII the other the firing mechanism was messed up beyone repaired everything looked right just wouldn't work so I swapped out shels as the shell on that one other than some paint rubs was great had all it's steps ( which most have atleast a couple broke off) so now I have a frame with motor for parts and a shell that looks like it went thru WWII and a nice one thats on a display shelf with a few choice pieces 6844 trailing car with 6 missiles, 3510 ( red ) satellite car, 6822 search light car and the 3535 security car. I've picked up a few pieces this week a couple need some parts ( give me something to do) a few ready to go. Good morning guys, Heavy frost out there and will only make mid 50s today.

Gene just left for southern IL to pick up his MIL then he will be heading home to north Texas. We had a great time as we always do. He was my best friend in High School I hooked up with him because he is two years older than me and had a car before I did. He was a farm boy and I was a town kid by then. He was held back one year so with that and his Dec birthday were were in the same class. We also ran trains again last night and had some beers.I am happy with that new set I got. Smooth runner and good puller. I also like the satin black finish much better than the gloss black that is on the Lionel version of the black bonnet Santa Fe F3s. That is why I was looking for the Williams set.

I can't believe what happened in Paris either but somehow I am not surprised. Sometimes I think we were all better off when the dictators ran those crazy countries and just beat those idiots down. Seems to be the only thing they understand and the only way to control them. Sad at best to even have that kind of thought. Sad

Fife, I see that devise addiction all of the time to and like you it makes me want to Ick!

Don, Heal up man! That stuff sounds bad. I have a Dr. apt next week and I think I will ask for the shot.

Frankie had knee surgery Wed.  Been there as his nurse and driver.  GF and her daughters there now.  May have to go back as GF is Raleigh PD and has the girls to look after.  He can't drive for a few weeks due to leg in brace locked straight.

Get yor shingles shot.

Have a good one.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 43 here in the Mid-Atalntic region.  Was called into action to pick up grandson yesterday, so scooped him up and took him to Guitar Center, where I picked out his first ukulele.  At first he wasn't thrilled with going into a "music store", but once inside, he had to touch and experience everything in there.

Dinner with Wifey at her favorite pub, when the Paris story broke.  There were a mixed group of young ladies gathered inside.  Even though the news was on half the tvs, they were so immersed in themselves and their devices, I couldn't help but be a little annoyed.  It's to be expected; they were all propbably in 1st or 2nd grade on 9/11.  We left.

Going to go to Chuck E Cheese today for grandson's 4th.  Hopefully with a better perspective.  Need to get started on Christmas layout as well.  You all have a good one.

Good Morning All,

Can't believe what happened in Paris.  Just don't understand how a group or sect of people have such a low regard of life, sure hope it can be resolved and eliminated.  Just don't know what can be said or done.  Really frustrating.

I'm doing well, the meds seem to be really effective, and I think I have a minor case of this stuff.  The pain is more uncomfortable than raging, the swelling in my eyes has gone down considerably, I do look as if I lost a significant battle though.  Have a constant headache and my eyes feel like there is "matter" in them most of the time.  All in all though not to bad.  Meds make me feel somewhat lathargic but that's about it.

Get tired of just sitting around, so yesterday started rebuild of the Control Panel I need to do, didn't get very far but a start.  Hopefully today I will drill the holes in the Lexan panel for the toggle switches and LED's.  I enjoy the wiring aspect and it is low in terms of work effort.  So it will help to pass the time.

Mike you had to be proud of your daughter's role in Fiddler, sounds terrific.  Before I got hit with this latest malady, Kay and I got to see a fantastic performance of My Fair Lady at CSULB.

Kev, that IS a  nice set you picked up!  I can't remember my last acquisition, its been awhile.  Even looking at the newest catalogs, I don't find very much I want or desire.  (Excepting a O-Scale Heisler, but $1300 is NOT in the budget.)  My biggest issue is not having any room either.

At the risk of rambling on, what I find I enjoy is doing some of the "Routes" with the exisiting equipment, and then there is always the repair and upgrade activites on the layout itself.

Take care all and hope you have a great weekend.

Don

Good evening all,

Thought I had a long day at work until I read about what happened in Paris.....  Did get to enjoy junior production of Fiddler on the Roof directed by my oldest daughter.  Still windy but dry in the Hoosier state, which is represented on the forum.   Nice set, Kev.  Good news, Buckeye.   I hope everyone has a good day.
