Buckeye Riveter

Chief, et. al.,

I'm not working this next couple of weeks, so buck up.  You won't have SS money to spend on trinkets and baubles.  You should if you have budgeted correctly, have money for your $1200 Lionel Big Boys, the important stuff.   Whistling

AH cabudle!!!!  I had planned on buy the $2,000 Legacy version.   Crying  Hey. I'll raid Baby Buckeye and her hubby's account. Devil

This software sucks.  If you do emoticons [like I stated before] and they jump to the top, then you lose the size fonts and can't change them back while typing.  Had to do an edit to get it back.  Also on quote, lose emoticons and changes to works [look at Buckeye's above].

Morning all.  Sun has finally found its way to NC.  Rain again tomorrow through Wed. morning [ending in T'storms].  Crying  [still emoticons going to top of page]

When they get this junk fixed [which they seem not to care], I'll type more.

PS: will give you a little Christmas cheer.  One street in big subdivision goes all out to decorate for every holiday.  Well this year, one neighbor did them "in".

House totally black except:

Mornin' boys.  Spent the all day setting up our North Pole layout, complete with Gingerbread Junction set.  Even added the Gingerbread gateman.  We certainly have ammassed a pretty good collection in 3 years.  Wifey was most pleased when she came in from shopping with the princesses.  Now she wants another tier so she can get "more stuuuuuuffff..."

So, that's 4 small layouts since Thanksgiving.  2 from scratch, and 2 assembled.  Never again.  I guess I better start my shopping...

Evening all!

The countdown is running. All major gifts in house. All purchased on-line and nailed free shipping every time. Never set foot in a store. Sweet. Just need to make a stocking trinkets run.

Looks like snow cannon is primed for some of you for Christmas Eve. White Christmas!

Forecast here is 60's.

Take care all!

Good evening all,

A good day.  Went to oldest daughter's place for birthday party for oldest granddaughter.   Party was nice.   Got an A1C test this morning.  That went well.  Did some shopping after party, which given the traffic and crowd conditions, went extremely well.  Wife is baking some stuff I can not stand so I will not eat it.  Go figure.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all,

Chief, your mention of flurries made me nostalgic for a nanu second remembering days of my youth when it snowed.  We have snow on  Mt. Baldy to look at but we don't have to shovel it.

Just got my umpteenth phone call from people trying to upgrade our house to save energy. Problem is our age.  Neither one of us would live long enough to break even after spending thousands to upgrade the place.  The guy said he would take us off calling list.  I hope so. Get calls like this all the time.  They must get a list from Edison on who needs upgrades.

Got an E mail from a train buddy in Florida who used be one of our Thusday night bunch.  They have moved into a new house after moving from Sacramento,ca. and he is building a new layout.  This is about his 4th major layout in the last 20 years.  One thing about it is that he has become a master layout builder.

Going out to eat tonight with friends and adjourning to friends house after for pie and coffee.

Son is off on another adventure with girl friend today and tomorrow.  Looks like love.

We've been enjoying the Christmas music on  a local station that plays nothing but that from Thanksgiving until Christmas.  My favorite commercial song is "We need a little Christmas" but they don't play that one too often.  What's yours?  Of course all the old Bing Crosby tunes are hard to beat.

Have a great week end y'all,

Ray

Morning all.  Snohio flurries.  Was not suppose to happen.  Ending around noon.  Raining lightly east.

Hope all have a good weekend.

PS: going by Todd's Train Depot.  Get update on Mrs. Edna.  Last I heard she was still in ICU.

ChiefEagles

Spell check on Firefox does NOT work on this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Does on all the rest of myu forums.

Chief,,,,,,,,,,

Yeah it DON"T work ALRIGHT! So what is new with this sites new software,,,,,,Nothing! They don't seem to ever get it right even when they have months of it on MR.

They talk but don't walk.

On another bummer subject:

I have to apologize about my positive comments on the Menards flat cars. I decided to set them up last night and the couplers are JUNK! Yep they are so cheap the can’t even hook up to each other. Interference within them with plastic parts hitting each other!!!!! I was thinking I can fix them with my chainsaw chain file but not sure. I will let you know. Cheap is what cheap is. Another stupid purchasing agent with a degree and no brains or clue.
Sorry, Glad I looked.     :-/ For sure if I need to replace the trucks,,,there is no deal there. No clue on the other Box car trucks. :'(

So tonight:

I thought I would check out the issue with the couplers on the Menards flat cars..... My Chainsaw chain file is a tad too big but I managed to clearance 3 of the four cars so they will work. The first one I tried broke the coupler, So I will return it.  Just like so many of the Lionel cheap couplers you may need to use a Ty wrap to keep them from coming open, but they will work for now and a lesson was learned.

And the rest of the day:

Got the kido for a couple days this morning.
On the way to get her a rock the size of a golf ball flew off a grain truck and got the windshield right in the line of site. Thought it was going to take me out. Scared the Heck out of me.. :o.. So was waiting for a call from the glass place the Ins Co is going to have replace it.

And the rest of that:

I guess I will be getting a new windshield on Monday for the Silverado. The INS co said any hits in the line of site require a NEW windshield. It scared the living heck out of me when that golf ball sized rock smacked the window. I still can't believe it did not come right on through. Safety glass works!
So I told them to give me a heads up so I can heat up the shed for the swap out.
The kid is running Sandra around so I get a break.   ;)  Jordan will arrive tomorrow afternoon then the fun will get heavy!!  :o

Have a good night.

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work.  Got some more presents for wife for Christmas.  Some years you just get a lot of stuff and hope she likes some of it.  This is one of those years.  Got a call from Lucas tonight.  Both jobs are keeping him busy, so much that it will be next year before we can see him.  I did ask him if he was saving any money and he made some comment about student loans, so I do not know what is going on.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I have been unable to add a quote to my post if the pevious post contains a quote.Bang Head For example, 88 quoted me in a post.  If I reply to his post, I'm not able to add his quote to my post.  It seems to work if there is not a quote embedded in a previous post.

Geez Louise!  I'm away for one (1) week and y'all changed the place, rearranged the furniture, and took out the pinball machine.

Finally finished the boys' layouts.  One still in the garage, one under the tree.  Got the Lionel swing bridge operating.  Now I need to get our North Pole layout put together.  Ordered the Menards US Army Tank flat for my car partner.  He loved it.  It is awesome with its firing LEDs.  It did have a couple pieces come loose during shipping apparently.

Thoughts with those healing, and to one who has departed.

I see I have a box full of messages that need viewin'.

Good Afternoon from Blueberryhill......

It is a gloomy day. 34 degrees.

Not much going on here. Usual chores and errands. I have been running trains a few times a week. I really miss baseball  Can't wait for Spring Training.

We are not doing much for the Holidays. No company is coming. They are all too busy to drive so far. But we will enjoy it anyways.

I am still eating Cheerios for breakfast on the dining car.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,

RT et al, thank you for the prayers.

Almost forgot we had a commitment at the church on Friday morning but got there 10 minutes late.  Wife starts physical therapy for neck problems today.  We are going back to this and have ditched the accupuncture (voodoo medicine per Chief).  Wasn't working anyway.

Fair weather again with snow on top of Mt. Baldy. Sunny and cool here.

I think I have taken care of all my service people for Christmas at this point.

Got a surprise visit yesterday from an old O gauge train buddy who brought over a nice basket of goodies for the holidays.  He is a walking miracle.  He is recovering from a liver transplant and is doing well.

Hope everyone is well today.

Gloomy and 28 degrees. But NO snowSmile

A nice list of condolences on Jeff's obit page.

I tracked a couple Geep size Legacy's together yesterday for a nice run. Then ran 2 set size steamers, all went well. It keeps the tracks clean.

Evening All,

Had my Dr visit today, what a joke that was.  Asked the Dr if he felt guilty going home at night.  I told him I would if I were him.  Couldn't answer any question, didn't know what he was looking for.  Asked him why I was there, best answer he had was to review my history.  He asked if I had high blood pressue.  I suggested he look at the form his nurse had just completed, she recorded my bp 5 times.  Each reading was around 132 over 85 or so.  Told him I didn't think so.  I asked how he was going to determine if I had Diabetes without any bloodwork, he said it was in the history.  What a waste of time.

Played on the layout, have a little dificulty with lash ups on my Cab 2 remote, was easy with the same TMCC engines on the DCS remote though.  Had two lash ups running on the same track at the same time.  TMCC had 2 engines and 3 non powered engines.  (Didn't same "dummies" cause someone would probably jump on that.)  Then had a DCS lash up with 2 engines and 1 non powered.  Looked really cool with 7 engines running together.  Didn't couple the two together though.  When running a lash up I always run a few circuits with the couplers uncoupled and closed to see how the engines are running and position them accordingly.  I even included a Beep in the TMCC lash up.  (I upgraded it with ERR).  Next going to go for 3 seperate ones, next will add in the scale Big Boy (Legacy) and Cab Forward (TMCC) will run as a TMCC lash up.  Will be interesting to see how many I can do.  My goal is 4 on the same track.

Going Christmas shopping with Chris tonight.

Got new antivirus software, so far really like it !  Cleared this computer right up!  Cost $39 for 6 mths, and I can put it on 3 computers.  It will be worth it to me, and anyway the company is paying for it.

Take care all, and be SAFE and Stay Healthy.

(Some idot drunk killed 3, injured 12 more, earlier in the week another guy killed 2 injured 13 or 14).

Good evening all,

A good day.  Renewed LCCA membership.  Ordered a LEGO set for daughter to pick up, which the grandkids will have fun with.   Took care of some other items.  Tested PE trolley.  After cleaning track, it runs like a champ.  Amazing how such a simple device can be so fascinating.   Market was up again today and have recovered most of the losses so far.  Noon time walk was blustery but long underwear helps.  Got cards out to rest of division.  Made it thru last day of working with snarky coworker for the year without her getting off some snide parting remark!!  Most excellent.  Ray, thoughts and prayers are with you and family.  Hoping for the best for you.   Hoping to get one more present for wife tomorrow if circumstances work out.   Did have to sit on I-74 for a half hour tonight while wreck was being attended to, but we had Pizza Hut pizza when I got home.   Wife is still not 100% but she did do some baking today for Christmas.  All in all, it was a good day as a certain tough Texan (AJ) would say.   Doug M., you mentioned the Art Institute the other day.  I do envy you as my favorite artwork, Nighthawks, hangs there.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Glad to hear you had a better, MikeC and you too, RT. Ray, I join the others in prayer as you work things out. I see post counts are back... more than 7,000 in 11 years. Yeesh.
