Overmodcrayonista
My laugh for the day! I used to just call them the "lines on the map" advocates.
My advise is for us "train-affected" folk is to advocate service that makes sense - not just more crayon lines on the map.

Can we just have slow speed service to Miami from JAX on the FEC main?
Let them get to Orlando and make sure that the business model is truly working before looking at further expansion. Overextension is not a good move for a young company.
Seems to me that there are an awful lot of extended routes in various directions coming out of what is essentially a crayonista perspective.
I find it significant that one of the GREAT examples of how to get one of these trains "on" has not only been brought up in detail in very recent threads, but we have the very intelligent son of the man who brought it about actively posting on these forums.
If you want a train from North Station to Montreal ... DO WHAT HE DID. Actually talk to people. Make connections. Run the numbers, then revise and run them again as the proposal evolves. Don't just sit there with a box from Binney and Smith and figure out how swell running expensive passenger trains over phantom trackage might be.
I truly believe that they should do a Boston North Station to Montréal route.
No new routes outside of getting to Orlando by end of 2020 or maybe sometime in 2021. They are very focused on Orlando right now. Hopefully they can expand to Tampa or Jacksonville by 2025 or so. Anything outside of Florida would be pure speculation, although the Atlanta to North Carolina route has been mentioned previously as a candidate for AAF to consider.
That's good to hear, do you think new routes coming soon?

Looks like Brightline is off to a good start! Also they say service to Miami by end of April.
Anyone know what the rideship has been on the new Florida Brightline service?
