Are any in decent running shape? If so, could not a few have helped out the MBTA restore decent service after most of its locomotives were nocked out through snow infiltration of traction motors in the recent Boston area snowstorms?
None are. The few out in Amtrak service were substantially rebuilt a few years ago, and are now mechanically equivelent to P42DCs (IIRC except for the braking system). NJT has three earlier rebuilds out of service, and I don't know their condition. One was used as a HEP generator on a NJT excursion a few weeks ago.
I found one in Sacramento two years ago.

It had decals like those on the Eco rebuild F59PHIs indicating that the overhaul was part of a "tiger" scheme funded by the Federal Government.
It was in better paint condition than many of the P42s.

TIGER was part of the 2009 stimulus bill. The stimulus rebuilds are the only Amtrak P40DCs active.
NorthWest We're drifting off of the original topic, but in past experience the OP hasn't cared much about where these threads end up. I think that the Vossloh UKLights (Class 68) will be an excellent preview of how the F125 will perform, as they are somewhat similar in mechanical arrangment (and as an aside, Vossloh is building the F125 body shells). I haven't been able to dig up any reliability data on the 68s.

I think the 68s are too new to have accumulated much data yet, and there is little mention of them in the press other than they are more reliable than the 67s they are replacing in some services.
Unconfirmed reports are that the four NJT P40DCs have been sold to SLE for close to $4 million.
