Another 1996
In the beginning:: First day, August 19th, 2006 for the 1996 in Roseville California. The E9 from CSRM also showed up for the unveiling.
Ah, the "Executive" Es. Saw them go past where I worked once. Picked the right time to look out the back door.

BNSFwatcher Metro-North Railroad had a lot of "heritage" units: the FL-9s painted in theNew Haven McGinnis orange-black-and white scheme. They also did two of them in New York Central two-tone grey, with lightning stripes scheme. Really cool, although NYC never owned any FL-9s. I think they are gone, now. An AC44-CW would look good in that livery! Well, an AC44-CW even looks good in NS's "Funeral Train" scheme... Hays

Except for the fact that NS doesn't own any AC4400CW's. Also, the FL9's (and other power) painted in the McGinnis madness colors are owned by ConnDOT but operate in the Metro North pool.
I read an article from Railspot and I had to copy paste the information. I would like to see this new Boy Scout Locomotive.

CAZEPHYR Awesome! CZ I think the Katy heritage locomotive it would have look better if they had painterd the traditional colors of green and yellow with words MKT. What do you think? When a railroad uses more than one color paint scheme over the years, It would be hard for me personally to decide which to use. If I had my choice of colors for the SP 1996, I would have used a version of the Black Widow scheme mixed in to the Daylight colors. They are what they are because the Union Pacific decided on the schemes to use. I believe they did look into several schemes for each one, but how they decided on the final one to use is anyone's guess. The older Katy units used the Red color with the star on the front of the E units for the Texas Special and it looked nice. CZ

It was 110 degrees that fine afternoon but great light to shoot the near 2 mile long KG1LA 12 with UP 1988, 1996, & 1983 for power. The one should have been 5511. The one we mentioned is a 2-10-2 in the round house at Cheyenne and is not active since 1957. Sorry, I should have made that correction.
And you are correct, the 5011 is a typical SD70M.
CAZEPHYR but the three E units are part of the real Heritage units much like the 844, 3985 and the 6926, 5011.

The 1983 headed up the Z train yesterday at Roseville, CA. The sun was blocked by the clouds but the light is what it is.
Great shots CZ, that shot of 3985 at James is excellent.
Here is a shot of a 3 for 1 special in Cajon. UP 1983, 1996, & 1995 pass Swarthout en Route to Los Angeles. UP 2002 is also on the train, cut in as a DPU.

And speaking of Heritage units, here are some more from the past two years. All have been via Roseville in the very recent past years and I hope they keep coming back. Enjoy! The last two are true Heritage locomotives.

Of Course CZ and I can recall 1996 looking like that back in early 2009 before it got involved with the 844 in April. 1996 seems to be kept clean these days but it hasn't spent to much time on the LA-Portland run through all the tunnels. If fact before 2/2/2010 1996 hasn't been over the Tehachapi's since Sept. of 09 when it was on the ZLCBR/ZBRLC. Nice set of images CZ. 95 has spent a lot of time around Roseville and Northern California as of late, currently on its way back on the MFRRV. Cajon
