Very nice indeed.  The 1996 never looked better than the picture at Wellton Az!

Check out some more Heritage locomotives below.

A few weeks back UP 1996 lead a 6 car special (SBSPT 27) across the sunset route from Texas & up into Oregon. Here are a few from that trip.

Union Pacific's "C&NW Heritage" SD70ACe 1995 suffered light damage (ditch lights and handrails) when it hit an Anderson Excavating (UP contractor) near Offutt AFB in Bellevue, NE, at 1600 (4:00 pm) Friday, May 14, 2010. The unit and its train (an inspection special) were able to limp into Council Bluffs. There has been local TV and newspaper footage of this incident.

Well it didn't take long for UP 2010 to make it to California. Here it is on the point of the IDULB 6 out on the Sunset route. A 5.5 earthquake in Mexico and other delays made this a though catch but I managed to catch it along the Salton Sea just before the sun went down.

Great shots CZ, love the shot at Dutch Flats & great reflection at Rocklin.

Thanks Cajon

It was a great day for the 1983 to come over the Hill in the lead.

Your 2010 shots look excellent.  I hope it comes up to Roseville in the next few months.   The 1988 in B&W look great.

I would guess that the old SP SD40-3 in the SD45 body is going to retirement. Good catch since they are moving the older power to a location where they will have an auction to sell them off.  They won't be back.

 CZ

This picture is on my favorite curve at Newcastle.  The eastbound tank train had just come by when the 1983 showed up out of the tunnel at Newcastle.   Those are real California Poppy flowers below the 1983 rear truck and fuel tank.

This is the 1983 at the Bowman crossovers.

And three more Heritage locomotives.  The nose of the 951 is barely in the picture.  You had to be there on that day in 1989 and hear the two 4-8-4's working hard to get the real story.   This was on the return trip for both locomotives after the display at the LAUPT for the fifty year celebration.

This is one of my pictures in August of 1956 showing four great Heritage locomotives that are gone now.

Here is Miss Katy from a few weeks back working as the rear DPU on the MWCFW 1 in San Timoteo Canyon & in Beaumont. The MWCFW 1 really had heritage power with UP 1988 as a DPU & UP 2687 (ex SP SD45/SD40M-2) up front, although it was dead in train.

As the MWCFW 1 works it's way out of Beaumont a WB UP stack train snakes along side as it charges up Beaumont hill-

I expected the unit painted in their true colors of the boy scouts.

I thot it would have been also but now that I see it,it dont look bad ! I hope they keep it clean like the heritage fleet

The true colors of the Boy Scouts of America is a tricky business.  Cub Scouts wear blue uniforms with yellow trim, Boy Scouts wear olive green and Explorers wear dark green.  My two Eagle Scout brothers and Life Scout brother would be honored by this locomotive, whatever color it is.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

2010 looks pretty ok, not the greatest, but it's better than nothing! Aren't CNW 8646 and 8701 techinically considered heritage units? UP has a note on them basically saying "do not patch or repaint". They were stored for a month or so last year, but instead of storing them at Proviso they were stored at the Illinois Railway Museum who touched up the paint scheme on both units. They look better than ever now! Here's a shot, not my photo! http://www.flickr.com/photos/19531332@N03/4151578629/

I was disapointed on the UP 2010 Boys Scout Locomotive. Sign - Oops I expected the unit painted in their true colors of the boy scouts. Oh well!  Its great for UP to give recognition to icon organization. Bow

I've got 6 pictures of the unveiling loaded at the Heritage Locomotives Yahoo Group. It's not that exciting.

I agree it looks like a regular GEVO with decal stickers on it.    That is a surprise since the United Way 3300 and the Desert Storm units were painted in their own scheme, but the Union Pacific should get credit for honoring the BSA with this locomotive.

Executive leadership of Union Pacific Railroad (UP) and the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will unveil to the public the UP No. 2010, Boy Scouts of America Locomotive in Houston, Texas. A very rare honor, Union Pacific has created only 10 commemorative locomotives in its nearly 150-year history.

The UP No. 2010, Boy Scouts of America Locomotive was created in tribute to the BSA's Centennial and honors Scouting's 100-year impact on the nation.

Looks like the Union Pacific got the first pictures out before we get to see the unit unveiled.

I live a mile away from there. Too bad I work 50 miles away and am typing this from my desk. I'll drive around later to see if it is still in town in one of the yards.
