I am thinking of going from Montreal (or Toronto) to Chicago by train but it seems to be difficult to get information. I phoned amtrak and via rail but they were unable to help me as they do not know their connection trains in the other country. Can anybody help me?

There is one feasible route without using a bus connection, from each Montreal or Toronto. From Montreal you take the Adirondack to Albany, NY and then the Lakeshore Ltd. to Chicago. From Toronto you would take the Maple Leaf to Buffalo, and catch the Lakeshore Ltd. there. Neither connection is very good.
The best option is to take a Via Rail train to Windsor, then a Bus or Taxi to Detroit, and one of several Amtrak trains from their to Chicago. The best bet though is to fly or drive.
Hey Beau, I didn't know that the train still stopped in Detriot. What station does it use?
