Well for NS< they don't mix any because they have none to mix, thier fleet is all DC, except fot the 16 SD80MACs, and they don't mix them with any other DCs. I have on numerous occasions spotted a Dash 9 with a SD70M. NS has a bunch of new D9s and SD70Ms running here in the Alleghany mountains between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh.

My favourite loco is 4472 Flying Scotsman, My favourite train is The Flying Scotsman (in steam days) not that I'm old enough to remember much about it.

Say "jongrant" -- I've recently seen an ad. (in Historic Rail I think) Stateside, for an HO "Flying Scotsman" set. It says that the loco is "tender drive" ! Having always been a Great Western man myself, I've always been mystified by the LNER, you mean that the drivers, linkage etc. was just for show ?

I'm not sure about a Flying Scotsman in HO, but I would agree that tender drive locos are crap runners in general, especially the Hornby A1/A3,

I hope you're not trying to draw me into that 80 year old chestnut - GWR v LNER , cos I'm a North Eastern Railway man myself, and I did'nt think that anyone stateside would understand me when I said my favourite loco was a Worsdell unsuperheated P3. [;)]
