CSX's F units

Since CSX has purchased the old Amtrak locomotives, the F units have seemed to fade away. Does anyone know where CSX is storing them (Waycross perhaps)? Any future plans? Have they recieved the YN3 paint job? Just some food for thought.

CSX took them out of service long ago. They went to the Potomac Eagle excursion train on the South Branch Valley at Romeny, WVA. and operated there in CSX paint, then with CSX painted out and POTOMAC EAGLE lettering added. One of them since has been re-painted into C&O's Blue, Grey, Yellow Passenger scheme and still operates. I have not heard about the other's in some time but, they still may be at the South Branch RR shops.  They finished their CSX lives in YN2.

Same Here? As far as I knew I thought CSX still used their F units on excutive specials and other special trains. The last I heard they all received CSX yn3 paint.

The original CSX FP7/F7 units (#116A, 117B, 118A)  were retired back in the 90's.  The current F40PH units (#9992, 9993, 9998, 9999) are serving on the executive train, with one of these units scheduled (but not confirmed) to be used on the geometry train.

CSX got 2 and NS got 1 ( if my memory serves me right). Come to think of it, I haven't heard anything on those units either.

Yes, CSX got 2 of Conrail's 3 "Executive" E Units. and NS got 1. The 2 that went to CSX went directly to Huntingdon for evaluation and were sold without ever operating on CSX. CSX decided to pick up a pair of F40's from Amtrak instead of using the E units. They were sold to the owner of Juanita Terminal RR in the Philly, Pa area. NS's lone unit also followed them there. Again, as with CSX, NS never operated the unit, they did re-number it though (100). Two of these are now in PRR paint and pull excursion trains in the East. The 3rd is still in it's CR paint.

CSX 116 was renumbered to 8016 in C&O passenger livery, and appears to be lovingly cared for by the South Branch Valley folks in Romney,WV.  I pass by there often, and have never seen it dirty.  There are some great photos of it on railpictures.net.  Upon seeing the CSX F40's, it harkens back the old question,"is that the train or the box it came in..."

Actually, I believe the 116/8016 is owned by the C&O Historical Society.
