Very creative i think... it must have taken the artist 6, maybe even 7 tough minuets
to design that. Take a rest buddy, you must be exhausted!
Blah....
eolafan wrote:Very nice indeed. Although U.P. took a bit of "artistic license" in their interpretation of the C&NW paint scheme, I think it is really nice and is a good way to honor the memory of the Northwestern. I I were to make one change I would eliminate the silver striping on the edge of the yellow color on the short hood and between the yellow and green on the long hood.
I second eolafan's view.

METRO wrote:First off, what's with the lighter green pinstripe on the edge of the lightning stripe? Seccond, CNW was always known for having a simple, minimalistic paint scheme, what did they do to that? Well it's better than nothing I guess, what's the next heritage unit? Southern Pacific right? Cheers! ~METRO *Edit: Is that the "Employee Owned" logo on the front? That would be a bit of a kick in the face.*
Well, if UP wanted to make the herritage unit look as much like the real paint scheme as possible, they wouldn't do it. It is to much money to waiste. This way, you get something nice. frankly, I love it, it makes me think of flying for some reason...

Well said. It's not what I was hoping for but its not bad either. "I'm C&NW and proud of it!" is a good way to put it.
Notice one thing about all of the Heritage paint schemes? They take aspects of the predecessor lines' paint jobs and make them much larger than life. Hence the big logo and the huge lightning stripe.
I think it fits nicely with the others.
You know wht that green cab front, with the rectangular windows, reminds me of? Those ex-UP E9Bs that CNW rebuilt with cabs for commuter service! Of course, there were three rectangular windows on a flat face on those, but I nearly did a double-take with this one.

The paint job is okay, but I'm begining to think that maybe its the shape of the 70ACe's that is making the paint schemes look kinda strange.
The 2 exceptions to the above thinking is Norfolk Southern's units and the Katy heritage unit.
You may not like it, but you can't go wrong with black & white and the Katy 70ACe just looks .
I just got back from a firsthand look at the unit (I won't say where--wouldn't want to encourage trespassing!).
I think the "light green pinstripes" are probably a solid-paint interpretation of what the reflectorized green bands at the edge of the lightning stripes on the Dash 9s and the AC4400s looked like in certain light. I remember seeing them looking like that quite a bit.
Yes, the logo on the front definitely is the "employee owned" version.
And I don't know about the silver stripes, either.
Looks ok to me!
Blah, gurrgle, blop!
After that photo I almost threw up! C&NW was more creative on their normal paint sceme that Union Pacific's Heritage paint sceme!
Oh well. Can't have everything you want.
