Yes, you are correct! However, you're not making the connection. There is that minority out there. THINK: What group has the largest concentrated group of single mother households in metropoliton areas in the U.S? I could also give you the detailed info as to why ultra-baggy jeans and tatoos are favored, but "Nuff" said! We could talk off list.

BTW:
I've been working with kids since the late 90s. I left transportation and am now a tech-ed teacher. I also work with kids in my church, so I actually get to see, hear, and interact with the young generation today. To be able to work with them, I had to do research. I kept wondering why certain styles have been adapted that would have turned our stomachs back in the 1970 and 80s. Being that I don't believe in political correctness and am conservative, I tend to hit kids and their parents between the eyes with info.

It makes me feel so good that some of the kids that graduate come back to visit me. Some shake my hand and thank me for having been so tough on them. One of my guys who wore the braided pink hair, body piercings, tatoos, and pants hanging off his rear end visited me when he turned 19. Clean haircut, dress pants, and a cool job. I was shocked! He stopped listening to goth music and gangsta rap. Makes more money than I do now.

Even if you're as tough as nails, most young people that strongly disagree with you will respect you as long as they know you care about them.

It's not the 1950s, it's the 21st century. Since you obviously were not around 20 or 30 years ago, you have not seen the changes that those of us over 30 have seen. O.K, more info; One of the reasons "pink" has been adapted by many males today:

From the 1980s thru today an overwhelming number of households have become single parent.....in most case single mom. Over the years many boys have not had many male role models in their lives, including a number of celebrities like Tupac. While maintaining "masculinity", many youths started adopting the traits of their mothers, which was to be expected. Mommy has been forced to become "daddy" as well.

Most didn't become "gay" as some are trying to insinuate, but nevertheless the acceptance of pink and other traditionally feminine traits by males is one of the effects of this. Again, do the research

I too have not seen or heard of any mass protest about the name. Friday's Sun-Times had a story on it and it doesn't say anything about hate mail.

As it was said above, none of the equipment will be painted pink, they'll stay the dirty stainless steel color they always are. The story also says Silver and Gold were the two runners-up. Its Pink in name only so I don't have any real problem with it. Its just a name.

I'd have to go along with the idea that the name of the line is "Pink," not to color of the rolling stock. Well, maybe some number plates somewhere. I'm sure that if the designation isn't popular with the people who actually ride the line, it'll get changed.

If they actually were going to paint the rolling stock, they should dig into the history books and find out how Lionel made out with their pink railroad...
