Which type of geared locomotive was genreally considered the fastest?
1. Shay
2. Climax
3. Heisler
4. Williamette

Well, 4 miles from my house, the Shay at Roaring Camp Railroads is much slower than the Heisler, and the Climax has been shopped for several years. So, I'll go with #2 Heisler.

It's red on mine and it's marked as red when I edit it.

I'm going to guess #4) C&O, based on the fact that it was probably the most extensive of the 4 listed in 1900.

Of course, she will be around for a lot longer. She is even haveing her crankpins replaced this year to keep her in good running condition.

She flew a pirate flag on her most recent run.

I think 2-8-8-2s were Yellowstones on the NP.

Kicking myself for forgetting that a 2-10-2 was a Santa Fe--but that doesn't necessarily rule out Colorado!

The 2-8-8-2,H-7 class on the C & O was called a Chesapeake,
and when the C & O sold some to the U.P., I believe the U.P.
called them Cheyennes.
