You have a Dr Pepper to go with that popcorn? Large Popcorn and medium soda for me.

I noticed that there's no second entry from K.P Harrier in this post. I was hoping for some details of his "encounter" that made him vent like this.

I think he had a run-in at Devore near a public crossing. Some BNSF cop told him to kick rocks even though he was on public property.

I would stand up, but I'm afraid I would block the view of the show for the people sitting behind me.

Large popcorn, no butter and a medium Coke.

I have yet to run into a bad railroad employee. Just remember: as you act, so are you treated. So don't go and mess it up for the rest of us because you want to be a jerk about your train watching privleges. [*steps off of soapbox*]

Anyway, I'll take a large Coke and bucket of popcorn, with extra butter. (talk about a quick way to spend $10! [;)])

Would you like someone you don't know looking over the fence into your backyard or worse, your bedroom, all the time and have this same person claim it's THEIR RIGHT to see what you are doing in the privacy of your property (home). I didn't hink so.

Unless you are looking through binoculars at the occupants of a sleeping car,
then you shouldn't see any private bedrooms while out railfanning.

As a railfan who works for a RR, you've successfully explained the internal conflict I'm feeling[:D]

Oh, are they? Well, that's news to me! Sure, there are some jerks out there who work on the railroad, but most of them are respectful to railfans. I mean......

I'm a bit puzzled really - I suspect we hear about every single railfan who gets hassled, but how many get hassled as a percentage of the total number of railfans out there? It's the same as those car reliability surveys - according to those I should be spending every waking hour at the garage getting mine fixed, but it's not missed a beat in the 6 years we've owned it and regularly outdrags stuff that's 9 years younger. Likewise I've not had any problem railfanning - then again I do pick locations carefully (getting out into the wilderness can have benefits, as in no people = no problem!)

Railroads are lying, abusive tyrants toward railfans. It has been proven time and time again that those that standup in unison to injustice are rewarded. Look at the famous Rosa Parks (who just died) and the Civil Rights movement! Railroads need to forcefully learn what American justice is, and not be trampling underfoot the American flag.

I say expose railroads to the world … And railroad stockholders will soon get the point, and force the needed reforms. I beg: Who has the guts to standup for America?

I'm not sure I've ever been lied to, or been abused by these theoretical "tyrants." I must be railfanning in all the wrong places again. Dagnabit...I miss all the fun. Vsmith, as long as you took the time to set up the machine, I'll grab some popcorn!
