Hello all! I was reading the thread and couldn't resist speaking up. I love train horns as well and hope to have a K5LA mounted atop my Toyota Tacoma someday soon. In regards to the fact that someone mentioned train horns and strobe lights atop someone's truck, please check out this link here for some excellent, excellent pictures from a man who has done the same thing (maybe the same man?) http://trainweb.org/mdamtrak199/ Matt has some awesome links and oodles of great sounds and pics of his setup. I forgot where I saw it, but I believe he has a link to a group he belongs to which has 5 or 6 members all with train horns on their trucks/motorhomes. Pretty neat. Anyway, thought I'd put my 2 cents in. Thanks for reading. jayandd@earthlink.net

ManofMeans,

It was reading Matt Donnelly's websight where I learned about the types of locomotive horns and the differences between them. I really enjoyed learning how to identify by their sound. [:D][8D][:)][:p]

I've actually impressed people when in a car , get stopped at a grade crossing and the train has not et passed. Based on what I can hear, I'll say something like: "Hmmm. EMD locomotives, K5H horns".[;)]

For me....it's fun. I'm thrilled now that I can enjoy PROTOTYPE horn sounds in HO scale. Dream come true! [swg][swg]

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

The truck I saw and the one Manofmeans mentions are indeed one and the same. For those who haven't ventured to the website:

You'll note the bell hanging below the horns. Just barely visible are the two strobes...
