7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

1 to move it to the Lighting section

2 to argue then move it to the Electrical section

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checkers

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

7 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URLs

3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

Ahem.....I was born and raised here in the true Middle West and it was an "icebox" when the iceman cometh and puteth it in the box. (I actually SAW a true icebox when we stayed in a lodge in .......Minnesota!

When Sears delivered it and put the plug in the wall, it was a refrigerator.

And a soda is made with ice cream, fizzy water, flavorings, whip cream and - bing - a cherry on top - two straws - for sharing.

A pop is something you used to have to have a church key to take the top off. Now you just pop the top and spill it all over yourself......

But I digress -

I was always taught that farmers had a big meal at noon - so it was breakfast, dinner and supper.

I just about had the water I was drinking come out my nose, good show. But you forgot about the eternal debate over which is better: incandescent or florescent (I am a big fan of incandescent and anyone who likes florescent just doesn't know what they are talking about).

Don’t we have a moral obligation to make all sockets equally accessible to all light bulbs, as opposed to the monopolistic single bulb single socket system in place today?
After all, the more bulbs that have access would result in the natural ascension of the brightest bulb in the box, therefore providing more light faster, and at a better quality, right?

And, as an added benefit, with regards to the fluorescent vs. incandescent debate, a duopolistic or triopolistic socket system means we could have our choice of either one, or both, with a reserve capacity for a third, like my new invention, the bulb and a half!

To echo what Ed said........Lone Star is not beer...but they do make good ads........Shiner Bock...that's beer....


Lone Star is good for filling the radiator in an emergency, to keep snails off the plants or to use for cooking.

edblysard: Went to the cupboard and found a package with a 3-way light bulb in it. GE gives instructions for installing these things. "To produce all three levels of light, this bulb should be tightened FIRMLY, BUT NOT FORCIBLY in the socket, to assure that all contacts are connected.
This should eliminate any doubt about what to do.
Others may keep their bulbs in a cabinet or closet for easy storage.
