Bad day here Friday. At 1500 a very strong storm hit us. Rain in sheets and wind harder than my 2 adventures near cat 1-2 hurricane eyes. Power out till 1830 . Lots of sirens and several ambulances. Neighbor reported a partial survey seeing at least 7 homes with tree damages. Said he heard of others.
No homestead damage but down the street another story. Yard clean up will be difficult having to use garden rake and pitchfork in small sections. Electric chain saw will be big help. Saws all with pruning blade also big help. Have plenty batterys
Can't forget to wish our neighbors to the north a wonderful Canada Day (despite all that smoke).

A classmate of my brothers was there. We were able to go over to Edgerton and surprise my Brother. He enjoyed the visit.Mother nature going to send more rain. The corn in some spots is too close to tell for knee high by the fourth.Time to get cleaned up.
stay safe

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
I'm glad I went to Deshler when I did - they've been having some bit of weather ever since, and there's more coming east...
Anyone know what happened to NS south of Atlanta?. Crescent caneclled since Friday.
Morning
Floating holiday at work.Rain on and off again today.Grass is rebounding in the yard.Might need the bale wagon when it dries out. Will check on Csx and the NDW after our walk.
T'storms this evening - 1.3 inches
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Good Morning
Head a csx while on our walk yesterday. Not sure how many will run today. Most of the intermodals I saw had plenty of sailboat fuel(empty wells and spines).Had a funeral for a fallen Firefighter Chief as well yesterday.Gave hugs.Going to go for our walk before it gets too warm.Happy 4rth of July. The great experiment continues.
afternoon
Warm and muggy here in Nw Ohio.Went over to Deshler early to help combat the swamp. On the way saw the I&O coming back south at Hamler. They had the 3 former Up Sd 60's I had seen before.Csx was playing catch up from yesterday.M 560 sat on the SE wye for a bit.Found out that I 157 had the "chessie" unit on the point.Took pictures of it as it came through North Baltimore.L 318 had an Sd 50 today for power.Just thinking that Chessie scheme would have looked better on that unit.Chores to do here.Keep cool.
Csx sent the 4568"OLS" unit west on I 015.They sent the Chessie unit south on 141.Guessers say some rain then a cool down tomorrow.Going to start supper.
Colorado Springs was in the mid-50's this morning, per a report on the morning net.
We'll take a cool down - my weather station spent half the day chirping at me because the heat index was so high.
Treked to my Endocrinologist this morning (he moved his office to a major medical complex from is suburban private office). This is the third 'new' doctors location I have had to find this year. None of them have the buildings where the offices are located PROMINATELY identified with the buildings STREET ADDRESS.
This one was the worst! There was absolutely NO identification of the building that one could see while driving. Doctor had given me a written set of directions and noted a multi-level garage building and its name - with the medical offices attached to the garage. Garage had Low Clerance signs for 6 feet 7 inches. Now I know the cap on my truck is 6 feet 7 inches high - saw some light drag marks through the dirt on the highest part of the cap. The final indignity was a parking fee of $6 since my visit was longer than one hour.
On the way home ran into a 'pop-up' storm - all 2 miles of it. A near Florida Frog Drowner while it lasted - which wasn't very long at 60 MPH. When I got home, about an hour later there was a lot of thunder for about 40 minutes, however, not a drop reached the ground at my house.

rdamon BaltACD The final indignity was a parking fee of $6 since my visit was longer than one hour. After waiting to see the Dr. for 30 mins I bet.
15 minutes checking in with the new office staff. Another 15 minutes for a couple of blood tests and 10 minutes waiting for the Doctor after the blood tests.
good morning
Went for our walk this morning.Csx ran some trains by including a late I 003.Looked in the NDW yard.It is bare.Saw the Sante Fe 2026 unit take some mow stuff west across the diamond yesterday.College boy is headed for Deshler. We will join him tomorrow.(Boss said we are buying him breakfast,go figure).Things to finish up here at home.
Spent the day shilling our railbikes (there was actually a fair amount of interest) at the Boilermaker Expo. Serious runners will recognize the name - it's been going on for years and attracts many top runners.
Of course, the key attraction for some (many?) is the finish line - the FX Matt brewery (Utica Club, Saranac) and the free beer therein.
It was interesting seeing the cross section of folks picking up packets. Today was mostly the locals. Some are clearly going for the whole race (15K, I think), some just for the 5K, and some were obviously just taking part in the fun run...
I'm working the train Saturday or I'd get to see some of the out-of-towners. I'll be home when they actually run the race...
Found this stashed behind the local warehouse club:
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
Conductor on our Utica train today. A bit rusty, and a couple of procedures I wasn't up to speed on, but the day went fine.
Hopefully Sunday is a decent running day for the 12,000 runners in the Boilermaker in Utica, NY. Most of them will be running the 15K course, about half the number will be on the 5K course.
The finish line is at the brewery...
Today was pretty warm and muggy.
morning
Yesterday was a good time in Deshler. We did have some rain. After breakfast we helped get the museum layout benchwork downstairs. The rain did stop and we were able to enjoy the rest of the day.Our friend who is an engineer trainee was their as well.He was hoping they would recrew at Marion street in Deshler.Csx did funnel it through and he recrewed at North Baltimore.Going to do things at home today.Back to work tomorrow.
Back to work Monday.Ns had cars across the street and uptown.Ran errands in town. Reports have washouts on Csx in upstate New York.Time to see what we want to grill for supper.

JoeKohReports have washouts on Csx in upstate New York.
What I've seen indicates that both sides of the Hudson River have had flooding, rendering the rails on both sides of the river unusable. I've the feeling we could see that cascade down to Deshler, depending on what they are able to run as re-routes.
The issue continue in eastern NY and VT. At least one road in my area (to the south, anyhow) was closed due to flooding.
Worked the Utica-Thendara trip on Saturday. I'm a little rusty, but the trip went well nonetheless. The passengers just love hearing the history of the line, so I did a lot of talking...
Some 12,000 people ran the Boilermaker on Sunday. Some run the 15K, some run the 5K, and I think there was a "fun run" in there somewhere. Seeing some of the folks picking up their materials made me wonder if they were doing so for someone else. They didn't look like 15K material...
Ns has cars across the street and uptown.Ran errands after work. The NDW yard is still pretty bare.Nothing on Csx.In the yesterday dept friend got to take the B 522 into the west siding at Deshler.(no room at NWO).Also Csx ran the B&O unit on the point of I 016.Came home and Mamma duck was marching her kiddos to the creek.Chores to do here.
Ns looked the same after work today.Guessers say rain here but we have not seen any yet.Chores to do.
Ns had cars uptown.Plus they dropped off 2 boxcars and a bulkhead flat on our dock.Came home and took care of yardwork.Glad tomorrow is Friday.
Cars are ready on our dock for Ns to pick up.Going to check on my brother tomorrow.Guessers say scattered showers.Chores to do.

Hope there is nothing in Topeka! My son and his family are in Topeka.
I my location in Maryland thunder is rumbling - waiting for the rain.
Just rain and wind is all I hear from Topeka. I have a son there also.
We got several EF-0 and EF-1 tornados in DuPage County over the last couple of days. Lots of damage but no injuries.
Rain here in Nw Ohio today.Checked on Brother.Saw an Ns stack train.Ns is getting ready to work around Edgerton as well.Got a text from a friend. Was able to make it over to Deshler as he brought B 522 south. They had to deal with a switch problem so they could park it in the west siding. They were just waiting on the crew van to show when I left.Going to do chores here.
