Stayed over a bit at work to wish Mommas cousin a happy retirement.Ns had shuffled some cars around uptown today.Ran errands when we got home.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Need to go check on my brother this weekend.
Tractor up by the crossing by our building. Not sure if Ns is doing some work or not.Cars were shuffled again after work as well.Guessers say rain Sunday??? Guess I will check on my brother tomorrow.Time to get cleaned up.
Got some rain in the area today. Only 0.02" at the house, but it rained pretty hard in the Adirondacks. They need it too.
We hi-railed the northern portion of the Adirondack line today so we can get more people qualified. I just need a check ride and I'll be signed off. It was a long day, though. Good thing we didn't have much to do outside.
Replacing the siding on the house ... of course it's gonna rain.
mudchickenReplacing the siding on the house ... of course it's gonna rain.
Back in the day - replacing siding on a station was a near guarantee that it would be torn down in six months.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Here is a classic case of journalistic incompentence. How do we ding such a person properly?
The Longest Tunnel in Colorado is Like a Portal to Another Dimension (msn.com)
Guess Moffet tunnel does not count ????

Wait - you mean they still have trains? Thought those went away years ago (except those that keep wrecking...).

Ding them properly? What does that even mean? You could send them a polite note correcting them.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any
Don't be too hard on the writer. Except for those of us in the hobby or the business, most people are unaware of the existence of the Moffat Tunnel. Prior to the 1994 flood, the freight tunnels forty feet below downtown Chicago were virtually unknown, even when they were in service.
From reading the article, it seems the writer is talking about highway tunnels. I know -- he doesn't say that, but I'm pretty sure that's what he meant.

Would the Denver water tunnel associated with Moffet tunnel count as separate? 23 miles for it cerainly longer.
Walked this morning.Csx ran a couple trains.Looked like all the units were home at the NDW.Went and checked on brother.Herzog tie unit tied up in the siding in Edgerton.Town is working on the water tower uptown.Went over to Indiana.Ns triple crown train was tying up traffic waiting to go to Ft.Wayne.But there was a car show in the area so he was holding up some nice rides.Chores to do here.
Made an official trip (via hi-rail) to Tupper Lake Friday. Now I need one trip in the seat and I'll be qualified on the territory. That'll make about 130 miles. Not bad for a tourist railroad.
I've been over the northern section before - in fact, in my records for territory qualified I'm already qualified - but that was at 10 MPH. We can now run at 40 MPH for most of it.

Where's my magic qualifying wand at?
morning
Went for our walk today.Heard I 015 go west.Had an eastbound ethanol train and M 565 and M 367 go west. Looked in the NDW yard. They have a former Ns switcher there in need of repairs.Hearing Ns has trackwork north of Butler Indiana on the wabash. So they sent a roadrailer train east to Toledo then north to Detroit. Also hearing July 1st the road railers will be done on Ns.Going to make lunch in a bit.Back to work tomorrow.
Track department for any railroad in the state of Colorado is out chasing raindrops tonite. The toy train people at RTD would be smart to be out as well. Next few days ought to be interesting as rain and snowmelt combine.
Ns shuffled some cars today. Also saw a westbound as we left work.Checked in on Deshler as I usually do in the morning. The cpls signals were dark.Someone came along and got them back on before I had to go to work. The grass was thankful for the rain.Would like another drink.Chores to do.

mudchickenLoaned to the state highway department making railroad decisions?
I have to give our state DOT credit - they're on our side. In fact, our long-time DOT contact retired and now serves on our board. I've been working with him on our radio system.
mudchickenLoaned to the state highway department making railroad decisions? (and you thought it was in the shop for new batteries all this time)
Like our shop would have batteries.
Ns shuffled some cars again today.Heard one go by after work.Ran errands in town.Just saw the Csx caboose in the yard at Defiance.Dodged raindrops to make supper.Tomorrow college boy turns 22.Time to eat.
Heard one on Ns after work. The B&O heritage unit was wandering in Eastern Ohio.Chores to do.

Way overdue local weather report: For most of NorCal temps are in the 70s this week with no significant precip forecast. Some reservoir water levels have peaked (Shasta 97%, Oroville 100%). Trinity is up to 57%; in SoCal the required pumping has only got Diamond Valley up to 72%.
