Likewise here in earthquake land, but I never notice unless they are M4+ and very close.
Weather finally seems to have turned to spring, this weekend had one day touch 80F and several later this week are supposed to. Heater set to 66F never came on last two nights. Kitchen thermometer reads 74F at 7pm. Yay!
Reservoir levels are looking really good. Shasta is up to 95% and inflow is tailing off. Oroville is 89% full and leveled off at ~17k cfs inflow; outflow is set around 14k with plenty of upward room as snowmelt ramps up.

Welp, I'm still here after all this time. mostly been out making a huge effort to better myself as a person. It's been going well and life has been good.
But what really brought me back here was the incredible preservation news in the quad cities, specifically Silvis, that dropped last summer. I was over the moon with joy as soon as I saw that post on Facebook that IRM purchased CNW 7009. This SD50 is pretty much everything to me. It's a dream situation that came true. The very trains that first got me into the hobby, and the first thing that comes into my head if trains are mentioned around me. My biggest want in railroad preservation has been fulfilled. It's gonna look great once the cab logos are restored and it runs consisted with 6847. thank you, IRM.
oh, yeah, and that steam stuff at silvis is pretty neat too. I'll definitely make a few trips down there to see it when it runs. I also was quite excited to learn that the bicentennial ATSF SD45-2 and bicentennial MILW SD40-2 are being restored as well. These sure are exciting times!
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.
Door is usually open.No cats along for the ride today. No cars on our dock.Ns did have one go through as I left work.Swamp is getting a refill.College boy had his eye check up.No change.Go to have the Museum open in Deshler tomorrow.Suppossed to be some dry time.We will see.
L.A.,
I've been wondering about what you've been up to especially after seeing an old social media post from a "Lord Single Malt".
FWIW, life's been good for me as well, starting to think how to occupy myself with retirement coming in a few years.

thanks man. I appreciate the thought. But yeah I had to go off on my own to work on my mental health and general life stuff. It's going very well too! But man this 7009 news is just still overwhelming me with joy and excitement. IRM is close to having an entire "outline" of CNW's diesel timeline preserved. If they can get CNW 8835 in the distant future, they'll have it. Including their very first and last hood units. But my preferred era is perfectly represented now.
Went to Deshler.Worked inside the museum this morning cleaning the shop area. After the noon siren test and lunch trimmed around the park and museum.Csx had some moves here and there.Mow was busy here and there as well.A tie unit will be coming to Deshler soon.Csx has a geometry parked in the yard lead in Defiance.Tomorrow going to go to old hometown.Time for supper.
Had cat that slept under hood of our car. One time when wife starting car we assume cat's tail caused the accessory belt to dislodge with belt dropped to floor. Cat never came back. Mechanic never did believe us.
Took care of things in old hometown.RJ corman is ready to replace ties through Celina.Went down to Ansonia.Csx set off some engines and cars in the yard. Also sent an eastbound.Rain on and off on the way home.Might be snow tomorrow.Time for supper.
Rules are out of the way for the year. Made for a long weekend - EMS seminar Thursday night and Friday, Rules Saturday and half the day Sunday.
I've got activities every night this week until Friday. Wheee!
Rain here at home.Day off today.Watching the railcam at Deshler.Crews are busy working on the SE connection.Had to wait on a 900 axel M 560 and others to go around.More chores to do inside.Back to work tomorrow.
The rain finally quit here. My weather station says 2.42", the rain gauge in the back yard shows 2.51". That's for the whole weekend.
The creek is definitely up...

Snowmelt season is well underway. At Shasta Lake capacity is up to 97% and inflow has climbed to 13k cfs. BoR has inched up the outflow in anticipation of maximum capacity. Meanwhile Lake Oroville inflow has ramped up from 22k to 27k in three days and outflow has been increased; current capacity is 91%. The spillway and afterbay repairs were tested earlier this year at (IIRC) up to 50k cfs. The Sacramento River levees reportedly are ready to handle any significant outflow increase needed from both dams.
Ns had some tank cars in our siding by our dock this morning.Heard them blow for the crossing by our building this afternoon.Things were gone after work.Mother nature still sending us little bits of rain. She can keep sending the breeze to help dry us out.Swamp will probably get mowed on Thursday.Chores to do.
Might mow Wednesday, if it doesn't rain. There have been scattered showers around the area, but very little here at the house.
Heard a couple of hams across the border talking this afternoon - one of them, probably just 30 air miles from here, was running into a substantial downpour.
Gotta brag - grandson gets inducted into National Junior Honor Society tomorrow evening. Great kid!
Ns had cars across the street after work.Heard one go through town as well.Swamp needs another day to dry.As far as Moms car it is now the kitten express. The cat that was rescued from her car had kittens yesterday according to the new owners.Somewhere Mookie is laughing.Brother Carl is saying Oh Dear.Chores to do.
Ns had cars down our way again today but none for us that I saw.Heard one go through town after work.Came home and took care of the swamp.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Time for supper.
One of our firefighters resigned at our fire meeting tonight because he's going to work for CPKC out of Saratoga. He's a younger guy - I wish him well.
Ns had cars across the street. They ran a westbound grain train after work.Went into town to do errands.Csx ran a couple stack trains. The Ndw yard was empty.Came home college boy had supper ready. Also said Ns has 4 high hoods in the yard at New Haven.Going to help a buddy tomorrow.Need to check on Brother sometime as well.
