Got a new recliner yesterday. The old one was better, but was on it's last legs, so it had to go. I'd already made a number of repairs on it.
OTOH, I put the old recliner out front of the house with a "FREE" sign, and this morning it was gone... Saved me a trip to the dump.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
For the 2nd day in a row at about 1900 each day CSX had a military train norhbound on the A&WP going toward Atlanta. Strangely both trains had 2 KCS locos pulling the trains. . The cargo was essentially light mobile units including Hummers, Ambulances, 6x6s etc. No heavy guns. Mostly on DODX 2 axel trucks with a few 3 axel trucks. All equipment pointing the same way north. armanementA
I believe Trains did an article about that a couple years back. Went down to my nephews and got another sign.Looked at Ansonia Ohio and found Q 008 coming eastbound.Came back home.We found the ND&W dealing with a bump in the swamp. Also saw q 353 and q 191 before we got home.Going to see brother tomorrow morning. Then talk windows with our bank tomorrow afternoon.Going to enjoy this nice afternoon outside while we still have it.
blue streak 1Could not determine if numbers as well painted on top.
I suspect you'll find the full reporting mark on top of the car. That essentially gives you three sides (plus the ends) to find the ID if the car isn't upright.
Had a friend that got Covi-19 last year. Ended up being a long hauler. Got first shot and long haul problems disappeared within about 10 days. He cannot wait to get second shot. As he says Grrr---r
Noted that new and some older cars marked WMSX are now having the name at least painted on the tops of their fluid cars. Could not determine if numbers as well painted on top. Note the lettering is twice as large as the lettering on the sides of the cars.
evening
Did errands and put up a light in the shed this morning. The sun was nice so we went to Deshler.Csx was a little slow at first then everyone wanted to come at once.Carl I have some cars for you to look at.Met some new friends as well.It was 3 generations and they were all named Joe.When they get together they have 14 Joes at a time in one place.I gave the the dollar tour and showed the museum as well.Tomorrow it's off to my nephews shop.Stacey hasn't decided where she wants to go after that yet.
MikeF90Green on surrounding hills is already fading, going to be a dry year.
I haven't checked on the upper lakes, but Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River are significantly down. Maybe the flooding on some of the rivers will help.
We have snow in the forecast, and some areas got snow overnight last night. Winter is hanging on. I'm at +34.8F as I write this...
BaltACDHope the improvement continues.
Amen to that! Got lucky on my sole radiation treatment (no side effects) and everything else including two surgeries seemed to work. Unfortunately, the latest CT scan and biopsy confirmed the C* is back so I'm on a new stronger chemo.
Which is why I've been away - oxaliplatin gives me severe finger tip cold sensitivity so typing mostly is no go for a week. Two week rest is up, back for more tomorrow. Rinse, repeat. :-\
After a slow start with vaccine shortage/cancellations, my county has roared back. Over 85% of us 65+ old farts have been vaccinated and 75+ is 97%; few anti-vaxxers here. No strong reaction after the 2nd shot, immune system is a little suppressed but I'm cautiously optomistic.

Got my first shot February 8, and got an e-mail shortly afterwards with an appointment for March 8 (Moderna). Early March, got an e-mail stating that my appointment had been postponed to March 12, and a few days later got another e-mail postponing it to March 18. The cold weather mid-Feb did a dandy job of messing with delivery.
My wife got her first shot today, and got an appointment for the second 4 weeks from now as opposed to the customary 3 weeks for the Pfizer. Explanation was getting a first dose to as many people as possible.
Vaccines appear to be helping with local hospital census the lowest since about April 1 of last years, with numbers dropping rapidly. About 31% of the adult population has at least one dose, with >75% of the over 65 population with at least one dose.
Helped at a fundraiser spaghetti dinner (takeout only). We had a well-oiled machine going, but the customers were lacking. Haven't heard how many meals we did serve, but it was well less than planned.
Shame, too, as the fundraiser was for the family of a 21YO firefighter who died in a training incident a few weeks ago. That incident is still under investigation, with many questions yet to be answered.
This morning with Stacey's help got in the dirt mud and clay to run the conduit. The fun part was when our friend came to feed the wire up to the breaker. Was under the house and fed the line up to him.We then went to Toledo to see the wabash heritage unit.Ns and Csx were fairly busy.Ns had a coal train blocking a crossing near the landfill north of walbridge yard.So we went to turn around and here comes a train on Csx to Vickers. It might have been a CN yard job but it had 3 CN units on the point.Found some supper and came home.Tomorrow rain and windy good day to stay in and relax.
Lots of news this week. Wednsday in LaGrange a unit train on CSX Lineville sub. Had 5 CN units on front of a new oil tank train . Midnight Friday morning our tornado in Newnan Ga fouled up CSX A&WP sub. Trees all over tracks, signals hit, and grade crossing signals down as well. Historic district hit fairly hard south of downtown. This second hand info as unable to get any where near. Drone footage very interesting. First northbound here BNSF intermodal so guess track open, CSX probably detoured some trains by way of Manchester until all crews used up.
State vaccinations all messed up. State is not getting vaccine to many areas especially rural. State dead last in % number of population vaccinated. Then we have anti vaxers. To use full allocation of vaccine all persons 16 + can get the vaccine starting yesterday.. Grandchildren''s parents scheduled next week.. We are looking forward in 8 weeks to getting together Memorial day weekend. Beats the heck out of a possible hot Jul 4th.
Storm did not even put one limb on yard. Just about 1/2 inch rain. Yard already overgrown from all this warm wet weather should be dry enough by Sunday.
New tires finally on the truck. May go help out with a benefit spaghetti dinner tomorrow.
Wet today - just short of an inch of rain with some thunderboomers and wind. Whee!
Ns was clear after work. The boxcar was picked up as well.Got items to get the mower ready. Also got items to get power to the shed.I have to do the dirty work but I don't mind.Next week we are on vacation.Might find some time to go find some trains.
Stay safe
Tracks were clear.Ns still has a boxcar to pick up.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Guessers say batten down the hatches for tonight.March came in like a lamb.
CShaveRRBalt, I hope you're feeling better today. I've only got two weeks' worth of radiation this time, but most of my after-effects from the 36-dose Zapathon were felt after I was done and had traveled to California.
Feel human today - started to feel better in the early evening yesterday.
tree68When I got my first COVID shot, they scheduled me right then and there for the second.
Went to the tire shop today - "The truck didn't come in today." Back tomorrow.
I put a new roof on several years ago - all steel - and painted the steel roof that was already in place. Aside from one section of porch roof that I still have the steel for, I don't figure on having to touch that as long as I live here.
One thing about that steel - the snow slides right off.
When I got my first COVID shot, they scheduled me right then and there for the second.
Got you both beat...new bay window in front, and new vinyl siding all around. That will occur in the week after Easter.Fifteen minutes into our tour of duty at the Peck House Museum, and we already had two stack trains. And I was just interrupted at that point by a manifest headed west ...now I have stuff to check on. Three trains in 20 minutes...at that rate we could get 36 trains today (fat chance!).Before breakfast this morning I got my first COVID-19 shot and my second dose of the radiation. Tomorrow I get to meet with the radiation oncologist, and Pat goes in for her first shot. I have to schedule Number 2 now.Balt, I hope you're feeling better today. I think we've got your expensive week beat. Got our shingles replaced today (lost two or three in last August's derecho, and our insurance company only comped us for repair of those). Good crew, got both the house and the shed done in 10 hours. We didn't like the color of the roof anyway...

I finished my COVID series almost two months ago. Health care workers (including EMT's) got in on the ground floor.
I have been out on several potential COVID calls.
On other fronts, finally got my front "bulb garden" mulched yesterday. Usually that's a fall thing, so the two layers of newsprint have a chance to get well soaked so the tulips, etc., can push through. But we got .2" of rain today, so I'm hoping that will do the trick.
Ordered a new recliner today - the current one is over 10 years old and very tired.
Tomorrow it's a couple of new tires. An expensive week...
CShaveRRI had my first (of ten) radiation zaps today. If it gets rid of the pain in my lower left back, I'll be happy, as the PSA count (my "marker") had already been going down nicely. I get my first COVID-19 vaccine shot tomorrow morning (right after the radiation), and Pat gets hers the following day.Progress!

Had radiation for my colon cancer 25 years ago.
5 days a week for 6 weeks
First 3 weeks I was wondering why Radiation had such a bad name, the last 3 weeks I found out.
Had my 1st Pfizer covid shot on Monday. Got diagnosed with a Urinary Tract Invection yesterday evening. Woke up about 0430 with what I percieve as digestive tract upset - couldn't get back to sleep and felt like the triggers for #1 & #2 were set to on despite both having relatively little to eliminate. Was able to take the first Antibiotic dose about 11 AM. Threw up a minimal amount 3 times between 8 AM and 2 PM. Things have gotten better as the afternoon continued. Hope the improvement continues.
Ns still has stack train and boxcar where they were yesterday.Saw an eastbound on Ns after work.Ran errands in town and saw a csx westbound Carl special.Got my first shot today.Chores to do.Also found out we need to give hugs.

Ns stack train still in the siding.Boxcar is empty awaiting pick up.(ns please move the train).Another westbound stack train came by after work.Departments around here have had several brush fire callls already.Guessers say we are in a light drought right now.Get my first shot tomorrow.Going to get cleaned up.
On the fire front - it's grass fire season. Despite a 5+ year old springtime burn ban in NY, people still seem not to know the ban exists. My department was out mutual aid for a 5+ acre brush fire on Sunday.
I have a Michigan county "fire wire" on my FB feed - they've had a number of grass/brush fires in the past few days. And then people are unhappy because their barn/shed/house burns down as a result...
