Of course they had a 'bear of a time' getting the crusty, rusty old parts off.  You live in New York.

Definitely a torch involved.  All they replaced was the links, though, not the whole sway bar.  Shop owner is a good friend of mine.

Took the truck to the shop this AM.  They had a bear of a time getting the old parts off (front sway bar), but now the "klunk" is gone.  The old girl doesn't owe me anything - 230,000 mostly north country miles...

Got a call from the auto shop this morning - the part isn't in.  On to Thursday for that.

Almost sixty here right now, though.  Can't complain about that.  OTOH, the fuel oil tank got topped off.  Maybe that'll be it for this year...

Train show today.  Spent more on fire trucks than on model railroad stuff, although I did get a horse for that Amish buggy kit I've got to get busy and assemble...

I picked up a large (1:16, I think) diecast of a 1958 Seagrave pumper.  Very nice model, even had boots and helmets to hang on the hangers.  Looked it up on-line and found one with a $160 asking price.  I paid $70, so...

I also got an older stamped metal kit.  I may try making a new steering wheel and suction hose for it on my 3D printer.

Lots of rain across the central part of NY - I drove through some fairly heavy rain enroute down and back, but  coming home was out of it long before I got home.

Railroad rules classes out of the way for this year.  Now all we need is to run trains.  Nothing firm on that yet.

Off to a small train show tomorrow (Sunday).  Probably won't find much of interest, and I'm not on the lookout for anything, so it'll mostly be support for that club and some camaraderie.

Windstorm blew through the neighborhood this afternoon.

Neighbor's tree couldn't stand the stress.

Local arborist on scene at 8 AM chipping it away.

CSX has done it again here.  For the third time in 6 weeks CSX has parked a Hertzog  ballast train for over a week on our siding.  Is making access for several business and homeowners difficult. The train was not split and is blocking one siding.  Lead loco is 797 and second 405.  During first block CSX told local mayor train could not move due to broken part on loco.  Sounded fishy.

I was asked about how to get it moved but passed as had no idea.  Anyone with a suggestion ?

Be the 'squeeking wheel' and repeatedly call CSX's PSCC at 800-232-0144.

I've been hearing wind calls on the scanner all day - not a lot, but they are coming in.  We've got wind advisories up in the area today and tonight.

Our overnight low is forecast at 31, and there were reports of snow in the western Adirondacks.

Isn't spring lovely?  My tulips are up, but are refusing to open...

Significant rail this afternoon in Lawrence, KS. Perhaps an inch and it was accompanied by lightning and loud thunder. All quiet now.

Half inch of rain since midnight - 0.82" "storm total."  Judging by the radar, we're almost out of it for now, but the weekend is looking pretty iffy...

Thunderbumpers here last evening - about 1/3 inch of rain, well short of what we need.  The "storm total" after some rain late this morning is almost 1/2 inch.  A few rumbles of thunder this AM as well.  The radar shows more to come, as well.

Meanwhile, efforts to prevent flooding on Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River have essentially backfired - both bodies are significantly below seasonal averages.
