Happy Father's Day to many of you folks! Hope it's been a good one for you!We spent our day traveling home from the cottage in Michigan. Our luck was none too good...two different automobile accidents prevented us from seeing good freights in Gary (the second accident was bad enough to send us on a detour route). Missed a train in East Chicago and an ethanol train in Burnham. We were blocked by a bunch of new-nothing auto racks in Dolton (also saw a Medium Approach Medium signal on CSX), and more auto racks in Blue Island.
At Barr Yard we saw a Cryo-Trans reefer (CRYX 6217) named "Parkland" with a picture of the Stoneman Douglas High School mascot (an eagle) on the right side. Four Cryo-Trans reefers numbered in this area are named for the locales of high schools where student massacres have taken place; so far this is the only one I've seen. While in the Land of No Trains (Oceana County has absolutely no railroad tracks in it any more), we made a trip through Muskegon on the way to a classmates' lunch in Grand Haven (nice tradition, 53 years after graduation!). In Muskegon we saw some huge CBFX gondolas, with an inside height of 7'6" (that's about two feet taller than your typical modern gon, and 2.5 feet taller than a Railgon). They had covers, and I don't know who uses them for what, but there were two long strings of them in the former GTW yard in Muskegon.

Send some of that rain this way. We're seeing scattered showers (although Letchworth State Park - home of the big Genesee River bridge) got dumped on yesterday. Nothing here, though.
Some golden oldies showed up on my FB feed today. One, now 53 years old, could have been written yesterday - "For What It's Worth," by Buffalo Springfield. Look it up and give it a listen.
