We'll be getting such a correction tonight.  Monday and yesterday were both summer weather and today starts that way.  After the squall line goes through late this afternoon, the temp will drop to the 40's tonight.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

We're a trifle north (and east) of you at the moment, Paul, and going over the cliff as we speak.  This (western Michigan) is another part of the country that probably needs no more rain...the river in my sister's back yard is as high as I've ever seen it, and probably now high enough not to be affected by the Lake.

White stuff falling out of the sky here on the 11th floor in the Denver Tech Center. Nothing sticking to the ground yet, but the flakes are a healthy size.

Drove over the bridge over local resevoir that has a boat launching ramp - normally you can see a couple of hundred feet of the ramp going down to the waterr - this trip you could not visually see where the boat ramp started.  Locally we are less than 10 inches from the ALL TIME accumulated percipitation record for the year and there are still two and a half months to go.  They are calling for one to three inches of rain from the remenants of Michael.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Balt.  well we are predicted for 5+, inches of rain.  Just 1/2 inch so far /Wind 40 + MPH and the rain after 2200 tonight.  Wind right now is nill.  probably due to fact we are on the left side of eye track .

We're only an inch or two off where we should be for precip - but it's been a lot drier here than south of the Thruway, where they've been getting flooding all summer in various places.

We're due for some rain over the next day or two.

The big fire prevention day at the local elementary school is in the books, although some of the kids were disappointed when the ladder truck they would have toured left for a mutual aid call.

It's funny how different classes react.  Some are animated, with lots of questions, some just sit there and make you wonder if you've dazzled them with your brilliance or baffled them with, well, you know.

We use a program I assembled over 25 years ago.  Each grade gets a different program, so aside from reviewing previous material, there's no boredom factor.

Hurricane  -  What Hurricane ?  Got the 5" of rain but wind was nill. A Medium size thunderstorm sends more limbs to earth !  Prepared for worse hoped for best and the best was even more than could ever imagine.  Had one dead limb in back down.  .  South Georgia much different.  Cotton crop mainly on ground.  Need hand pickers.  Many Pecan trees down with harvesting only 2 - 3 weeks away,  Don;t know what will happen ?

Waiting for leaves to dry to pick up to compost pile.

Two inches of whiteness has happened overnite and it's still coming down. The marketing bubbas are praying it is still snowing at kick-off this afternoon of DonkeyBall when LARamsGuy's team is in town. (ski area reservations and inquiries jump)

Busy weekend on the railroad - over 450 rode the train up from Utica on Saturday, while nearly 250 rode the local trains and almost 200 took the trip out into the woods after dark for our "haunted" train on Saturday night.

Don't know how many rode the Sunday train out of Utica, but another 280+ rode the local trains.  I was engineer, so could only observe from afar (in the cab).

Colors, unfortunately, are past peak in the central Adirondacks.  Last weekend they were near peak, but not quite there.  Still made for a nice ride!  And with the leaves gone, you get to see scenery that's normally hidden - many the surprise pond or stream are revealed.

We're under our first freeze warning here in Chicagoland, too.

Pat and I had a fantastic trip to South Bend and back today on the South Shore.  Hint for those doing it this way:  bring your own lunch!  We had to grab one to go in the airport terminal in South Bend, and it cost plenty and wasn't that great.

An almost-too-late birthday greeting to Jim (Zardoz)!  Hope it was a good day for you...stay happy and healthy!

Airport prices are always outrageous everywhere.  A ride on the South Shore is always fun, even when I was just riding home from 115th Street to Hegewisch after school.  The house where I grew up can be seen from the curve at 130th and Brainard, which goes a long way in explaining how I got into this hobby.

I also still see high school students getting on the train at outlying stations for their ride home:  St Rita students at Landers, Fenwick students at Oak Park, and some others.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Thank you, Larry!  And also to you, Young Feller (and it isn't everyone who can say that!)!

I have already had the best birthday present imaginable--my oncology nurse called this morning to give me results from my blood draw yesterday, and the PSA number has dropped by more than 50 percent over just two weeks, presumably a result of the medication I've been on for about that long.  It was supposed to slow the growth, but it's actually stopped it and turned it around!  I have an appointment tomorrow, but she couldn't wait to share this news.

JoeKoh
Found out from some other railfans the 765 came back west for home tonight as well.

Indeed, it did.  The "Iron Triangle" was knee deep in foam, and the comments were flying fast and furious on the live cams.  Nearly 1,000 were watching.

In a way, it was a bit disappointing, though.  765 is majestic enough, but all she had on her drawbar was a second tender, tool car, and two gons for brakes...
