Seeing robins is a sign of spring. If I saw hundreds of robins walking around on a big lawn does that mean they're auditioning for parts in an Alfred Hitchcock movie sequel: The Birds Part II- this time it's personal!

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Some excitement again in Deshler today - a garage fire with the smoke visible on the railroad park webcam. Deshler's bravest made short work of it, cancelling a call for assistance from Hamler.
We've had clear, if cold, weather all week, and it looks like through the weekend. Might warm up next week.

CShaveRRI wouldn't know whom to root for if it comes down to Loyola vs. Michigan!
Which is why I'm glad I didn't see Michigan State vs Syracuse... I'm sure I'd have been a hoot in a bar - cheering when either team scored...
We're in for our sixth (or so) nice day in a row. The big storm stayed well away from us, and no one here is complaining (except maybe the snowmobilers).
And it's again above freezing, for the second day in a row. I'm sure the maple syrup people are happy. They need cold at night and warm during the day to get the sap flowing at it's best.
Time to get back to printing tasks. Several big jobs for area fire departments, and I have a lot of cardstock to get cut up.
I wouldn't know whom to root for if it comes down to Loyola vs. Michigan! (The red-shirts in Ohio would tell me to stick with Loyola, I'm sure!)So far, in my research, I've found one of my sightings yesterday where the cars were renumbered in reverse order! And what I thought was one series of cars actually came from three groups.

Carl, Glad you are well enough to get to Elmhurst. And Loyola did it again. A one point win to go to the Elite Eight. These nail biters are great to watch. What a story if they go all the way.
Let's hope that storm can keep moving and doesn't end up in a wreck at the base of Cheviot Hill (ah, those were the days!).We've avoided most of the bad weather for this month, so far. This weekend could be a lovely spring drift-fest. Or sleet. Or rain. Or nothing. 24 hours is too far away to be sure. The two of us have been battling colds for much of the week...I'm about three days ahead of Pat in the progression. Today we felt well enough to grab lunch trackside in Elmhurst. The information I got off the cars on just one freight (which obligingly stopped for a while) will be keeping me busy for a day or several. It will necesitate a report, because I now have nearly 1000 new freight cars that haven't made it into the official new-builds table.Daughter Linda has her ups and downs. The downs: her current chemo regimen is no longer effective, and she'll have to start a new one. Before she does, though, she needs a battery of tests and scans to check on whether her current lung problems are cancer-related. The upside: they were able to replace their dead van with a new car. Even higher up: the BBC is interested in interviewing her because of one of her musicology blog posts. She's getting well-deserved accolades for her writing...and that may not have come about had she not been afflicted with a sickness that has made it sensless to pursue a "normal" career in academia with her Ph.D.
Ns local was uptown switching when I left work.Had a gp 60 on the point.Snow is mostly gone now.Guessers are saying the next storm will go down the old C&O from Chicago to Cincy then east.Glad tomorrow is Friday. Will be on spring break next week.Chores to do.
A cold front caused our temperature to plummet 14 degrees yesterday! Monday's high was 84 and yesterday's was 70.

JoeKohMother Nature has proved the guessers wrong again.
Yep - it was snowing pretty good on the Deshler cam last night...
We're still warming up a little at a time - up another six or seven this morning.
Dear 'ol WeatherLiar U putting out a really bad class of freshmen this year?

Last night an airliner came in low over our house and was making a really high pitched whine like the sound effects from a dive bomber in an old black & white WWII movie. Sounding just like Clifford Klavin, I told my wife that the sound was because of the moisture in the air, the temperature and the pressure. That combination also gives us weird weather. I said we’d either wake up to all thick hoar frost on everything or a foot of snow. This morning everything is frosty and it’s snowing like crazy. Weather man says 39 and some sun today. Where?
Someone posted a tongue in cheek "letter of apology" from Syracuse on FB, for spoiling so many trips to the final four.
OTOH, some friends from MI weren't apologetic at all, they admitted MSU performed poorly.
Things are warming up - zero on Sunday, six on Monday, and 11 today. At this rate, we'll be at normal for this time of year around the end of the week.
A few years ago we set a record high of around +80F...
The snow isn't melting very fast...
The Electroliner35 is crying in his Diet Coke. Doesn't like green beer. Bergoff's Dark is good when I have the points on my WW journey. Do get to root for Loyola however. XU & UC sure did disappoint. For some of these teams, its a shame that there has to be a loser cause you know they played there hearts out.
We got a foot of wet snow last night - Locals were dancing in the streets. At least we won't be burning for a while. (Duncan's luck, he got his summer haircut Friday afternoon. He's indignant (as a Scottie would be), but the cold and snow hasn't phased him..)...at least furmageddon didn't happen.
After yesterday's March Madness, Cincinnati has gone into mourning after UC and XU laid eggs. There's always next year. Mudchicken & Electroliner might have an extended green beer hangover.
Well tomorrow is the first day of spring.Mother nature isn't treating us very springlike. It is also Stacey's birthday as well.Need to find a new dentist.Ours has decided to retire.Ns had some cars to move uptown when I left work.Chores and projects to work on.
