Is that something the web cam?

Yep.

You can see it atop the building in this image from the park's website:

http://www.rochellerailroadpark.org/images/Rochelle%20Railroad%20Park/gallery4-Robert-Sharp.jpg

Thanks a bunch.

Interesting to see the park from the railroads' point of view.

Off Topic: - How can I get my posts to appear timely under the subject?  My posts are held for moderation (which is fine) - but often appear hours or days after I've posted - and while posted in chronological order - at the time of my post - lose their relevance to the topic on which I've posted?  My posts are often buried after the topic becomes stale.  Is there a difference between "reply" and "quick reply"?

Thank you very much and I apologize for being off topic.

Thanks

Bob

Yes it is the camera. If you go to the Rochelle Railroad Park website gallery, you will see it in picture #2. I guess where it is located makes it hard to clean it on a daily basis.

It shows a blank white screen with the little squares in blue instead of the usual black background with white squares,I was watching about an hour ago and it was fine.

I had the same thing this morning.  St Paul 1 and 2 and Roanoke seemed to be working but it's hard to tell unless there is traffic on adjacent roads.  No such clue with St Paul 2.

Rochelle seems to be working fine now.

Question: When I found the railroad park in Google Earth and zoomed in real tight, I could see something (?) at the peak of the roof on the west end.  Is that something the web cam?  I had not thought from the viewing angle that it was that high.

Working fine for me for about the last three hours or so. Just have to reset in the usual manner while I do other things.

Think that this may be the DuPont tank car safety train.  I think I can barely see the DuPont logo on the caboose - (it's not an engine?)

what was really unique, head end looked like a UP 'SD-45' hood looked like it, but it was deep dusk, hard to tell.

I hope I can be permitted to post a question about the Roanoke webcam in this thread.  Anyone know what this cargo is?  http://1drv.ms/1NzcJF5

(Sorry, can't get the image to load in the page, but clicking on the link should take you to it :)

1st (after the two engines) dead end 45 ton switcher, 2nd Cargo can, 3rd, appears to be a tank like a milk carrier, all shiney chrome. my take on it.

Looks like a small loco, a box car, and maybe a covered hopper.  The loco looks like it's been wrapped in plastic.  Export?  Museum pieces?

I pictured something more like this, except this middle band is yellow:

Re:  Weather.  Tornadopaths.org shows three twisters reported southwest of Rochelle.  Given the usual track of tornados, they were in the sights...

that's a new road for me, sorry for mis info.

A reply to "North West". I think you have found the answer. I guess my memory was a bit off with the top blue area, and my recollection was a darker blue, but the logo for Citirail is as I think I remember seeing it. I should have done a print of it, but one is never ready for the unexpected!

 Thanks.

all the homes in fairdale Il, were destroyed last night, one person dead, no details, weather channel is all over it right now.

Did it look like this?

CREX or CitiRail units have been appearing primarily on unit trains.

Hope to hear details about rough weather between there and here...I mean Chicagoland.  I know DuPage is in a tornado watch and high-wind advisory.

As for the mystery locomotive:  Citirail?

BNSF high-rail track inspector WB on left track through the diamonds at about 9:25 PM CDT.  Movin' kind of slow.

Very breezy in the audio.

Wow - looking at the damage reports, this was a half-mile wide E2-E4 storm that must have crossed the BNSF main right at the Rockford Branch junction. It could not have missed the park itself by more than a couple of miles. Sadly, it appears a large number of people were not that fortunate.

Quite a big bullet, too, judging from all the videos surfacing.  One shows it spinning up near Ashton- that eastbound UP that came through afterwards was very lucky.

Unfortunately - The front page of chicagotribune.com right now has the following headline:

Tornado causes considerable damage in Rochelle, authorities say

The current radar summary on Intellicast is showing a TVS (tornado vortex signature) around Rockford.  Looks like Rochelle dodged the bullet this time.

Looks like the storm cell headed NNE and just missed Rochelle to the west.  I can see a headlight out west on the UP, but it's not moving.
