It was fourteen degrees when I left work last night. Highs just above freezing for the next five days are expected. Tonight, single digit temperatures are expected. The local folks are bemoaning the cold air. After five years in northern Wisconsin and twenty plus years in northern Illinois, it is just "Winter" to me.

And they just closed the Interstate through that area...
NWS Buffalo posted on FB that the band actually starts at Lake Michigan, and extends through to Vermont, some 800 miles...

Only a couple inches of snow on the ground, but cold. Temperature is supposed to drop to five tonight. Sure wish April would hurry up.

The name of the young lady in the linked article/picture indicates she's probably a cousin (or married to one). "North Redfield" is right about where the old family homestead was located...

Norm, our temperature is supposed to go to five, too...but on the other side of zero. It's two above right now.

It is interesting: St. George, which is in the southwest corner of Utah, is in the area known as "Dixie," because its climate is warmer than ours, and some people go there for the winter.. However, St. George has been colder than Salt Lake this month; I do not doubt that those migratory people wish that they had stayed home.

We hit a low of seven degrees last night. Today, it is above freezing. Tomorrow, rain, sleet, ice, and snow are predicted, kind of scary weather, fitting for Friday the 13th.
Weather dummies say that’s a maybe!
But then again, they can’t tell me if it will rain tomorrow!
mookie is sending us snow for Saturday. mamma stocked up at the store. work is still busy busy busy.
need to do some chores here at home.

Someone whispered in my ears that everyone might be able to make snow angels for Christmas.
Too bad that person will be one wing short.
plan for tomorrow watch it snow.Long work week.
A couple of successful nights on the Polar Express. Home for other events for the rest of the weekend.
Our latest lake effect event left me with all of two inches of the white stuff in the driveway.
North Redfield, on the other hand, got six feet of fluffy powder. Lowville had about 30" and it still showed last night as I drove through. It's not often you see 8-10" of snow sitting on top of streetlights and the like...
It was also cold overnight. When I left Utica the mercury was hovering just above the zero F mark. As I drove north it kept dropping, to a low of -14F. As I got closer to the lake, things warmed up again - to zero...
Off to the local library to play the conductor for their showing of "Polar Express."
And I got a pie to make for a get-together tonight.
.....Finally, the threat of snow, provided us with some...and still snowing. measured about 3" overnight, and it continues, perhaps until about six this evening, according to reports.
I shall stay in today. No point of trying to go out when one doesn't need to.
Hopefully, church tomorrow, then to the Sunday meal at a local restaurant.
Warmer here today....Now 35. Warmest we've seen for some time. Almost no wind. Has been a rather wet snow. Just the right temp. for that.
Best wishes to all preparing for the seasonal events.

rvos1979Sitting out the storm in Youngstown, OH, got up at 0030 today and beat it to here. About two to three inches on the ground here now...... BTW, since nobody has mentioned it on here, the 12th was my 34th......
Happy 34th there Randy!
Glad having you with us in the Dec B-Day Club,
I also am willing to give the 7th to anyone that will take it. Free to a good home. Actually to any home!
A belated happy, Randy. Still gotta arrange a meet when you're up this way sometime.
The winter storm is here, in force. Snowing consistently - not inches per hour, but still accumulating, and with a decent wind, which means it's drifting as well. Means an early start in the morning to make sure our banquet hall is accessible to all those who care to join us for breakfast, and to visit with Santa.
The radar isn't showing anything that looks like a break, so we're probably in it until dawn, anyhow.
Time for bed.
afternoon
took care of what the plow left behind this morning and got matt to sunday school. Lot's of fender benders last night. We stayed home. Randy happy birthday.Keep it rolling safely. Another week of busy work for sure this week.
About 8" of snow overnight, with some wind, so it settled in pretty well. Definitely snowblower territory, which I did before leaving he house for the FD's Holiday Breakfast.
That event got off to a slow start - opened at 8, but our first customers didn't get in until after 9. We were considering cancelling, but folks started to show up, especially with kids, to see Santa.
All in all it turned into a decent event.
Now I get to rest a bit for a few days.
A little warmer here for at least a day.
I did receive a holiday card from a good friend. For animal or in particular, cat lovers:
2 half grown kittens in red and green collars facing you. Left one sez "Last Christmas I swallowed a ball of yarn!"
Right one sez "Oh yeah? What Happened?"
(Inside) - left one alone: "I had mittens!"
OK - so it isn't SNL - but I got a chuckle out of it.
Clever kitty...most of the ones I know are just knit-pickers.
It was a good bit warmer today than it had been. When I left for church this morning, it was 28 degrees in the garage, and the temperature dropped only two or three degrees before I reach the church. There was quite a bit of drip from Katie's deck, so I will have to be really careful when I go out tomorrow, for there will be areas of ice on my porch.
It's still cold tonight.
get it loaded and get it out!!! busy busy busy. Got a card from Nebraska today.Ns had a freight waiting to go when I left work.Ma nature is going to give us some more snow tomorrow. Got chores to do.
