My question was answered - just not here.
We have 3 state company all day and maybe tomorrow. Super windy from Kansas and Oklahoma - so they are sending dust and pollen. And Colorado is sending dirty water. We are loved!
Heard on the news that we get our drinking water from wells around the Platte River @ Ashland NE (I knew that) But they test the water all the way out in western NE and if any pollutants are getting too close, they can switch off the wells and have back up water stored so we won't know the difference. (I didn't know that)
I believe Omaha gets water from the Mighty Mo, so they don't get well water.
Since I am not a big water drinker, I will do my part to conserve our precious resource!

I wish I could drop in on Fotown tomorrow. Instead, we're bound for the Land of No Trains...again. However, if I'm really lucky, we might get to a special corner of this land--the Land of Stored Freight Cars.

Busy weekend on the railroad. Conductor on the "locals" Friday, with average trains.
Saturday I was engineer for one of our biggest trains so far this year (two units, seven cars, almost 300 passengers. Unfortunately, the dew on the rails raised Cain with my traction, and the entire trip north is uphill. Once I got out of the shade, and the track dried out, things improved, but I still managed to get in an hour late...
Sunday was very busy, and I was again conductor. Sold out brunch train, plus some "leaf peepers" who didn't eat at the restaurant, then almost 150 on the mid-day train, and over 70 on the last train of the day. Kept me busy, as I was the only train crew on the consist.
Looking forward to a few days off...
No, No, No! No rest! Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, house fixing - a retired person is never done!
Mookie, apparently you do not know the right way to retire--though Katie did put me to work in the backyard yesterday, disassembling a broken slide that the previous owners of the house had left and cutting unwanted limbs off a crabapple tree. It sounds as though you should give Driver some responsibility.
Johnny
Mookie No, No, No! No rest! Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, house fixing - a retired person is never done!
Except for the grocery shopping (the larder is in pretty good shape right now), all that other stuff is on my "to do" list. But I think I'll sleep in a bit, anyhow...
That, and figuring out how to get Mom's "MiFi" back on the air from 2000 miles away...
Johnny - Driver ok. Our landlord takes care of everything outside. So we have a landscaped yard! Love that man! And Driver cooks, does laundry (sheets, which are heavy for me to handle) and grocery shops with me (takes 2 ya know) Plus he does all the driving, which is why.... He's Da Driver! It is a sore point, since I have a perfectly valid driver's license, but the Swiss can be very stubborn people! Just like their wife!
And most important - he makes me laugh!
Tree - ok - what is "MiFi". (Mom in Phoenix - i?) You can do it. You helped me out and I am farther than your travel range. Just hop a "cloud"....
You should talk to our neighbour!! lol!!

Good Wet Morning from DullFogVille.
Whereupon it is dull, foggy, misty and showery, sometimes all at once or in bits and pieces...high supposed to get to 68 low tonight 53....
Some bits of bafflework from work needs done then off for a few weeks..need to see a bunch of doctors...again....
MookieTree - ok - what is "MiFi". (Mom in Phoenix - i?) You can do it. You helped me out and I am farther than your travel range.
It's a wireless network access point (like a wireless router) that runs off cell service. It's about the size of a hockey puck, is battery-based, and will work pretty much anywhere. Sort of a blending of "my" and "wifi." Another common name is an "air card."
Mom doesn't have broadband internet at her apartment (she only recently got cable), and this lets her use the laptop my nephews gave her as well as the tablet I bought for her (she likes it for solitaire and the daily crosswords, which require the wifi connection).
She's headed for the cell phone store today to see if they can figure out why it's not working properly. I don't have one, so I can't work through it with her.
Tree - I think we have the latest "no-fi"......
There are places that now charge to allow access to their Wi-Fi and it is known as Fee-Fi.
I am trying to figure out how to add "Fo-Fum" to the end of it.
Semper Vaporo
Pkgs.
That "fee-fi" might be worth it, if all they demand per use is some pocket change. Then it would be Fee-fi fo fumblers.
(Best I could do on short notice...you're welcome.)
foggy this morning. Matt was closed. Ns was running slow when I got to work. After work I got my flu shot.Got yardwork done.Time to more chores here in a bit.
Where's the "groan" smiley when you need it...
Ms Mook - most folks these days are using some manner of wired Internet access at home (and in the office), be it cable or landline telephone based. That's what I've got.
In Mom's case, getting her an air card was actually cheaper and easier that the hassle and expense of bringing wired Internet into her apartment and setting her up with a wireless modem. She's on the data plan for my cell phone.
Tree - we are on Time-Warner - and I have to say - they are good. However, we are driving a Buick and paying for a BMW on our cable bill. Wow!
If the last BMW I was in is any indication, the Buick is a better deal.
