Shiny side out. But you must have the rabbit ears antenna attached to the top with #14 wires.

I was looking at a model railroad supplier's catalog today and realized that there's another group of "white boxcars" on the railroads. Instead of perforations for ventilation, they've got air conditioners, which would probably help keep the occupants cool enough that they would cause trouble.
Not only that, but they're insulated, to they screams and moans won't be heard outside...

And a lot of them run between Florida and the New York area on a regular basis. Heard something about the contents of the cars being juiced.

Fema would probably only need the cars a few months out of the year. The rest of the time, they may be able to lease them to the Soylent Corporation.
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.

Speaking of Soylent, maybe that's the explanation for those black and white tank cars?
Shhhhh….they monitor this stuff you know.

I just searched Google [White Railroad Boxcars with Shackles]:
it Came up with 22,300 results in 0.23 seconds! You just know it must be true....Cause they cannot post bogus stuff on the Internet!

Sam, I called the link up, and it astounded me that anyone could have been so taken in.
I wonder what was mistaken for guillotines.
Will this ever just die and go away?
What really makes me laugh is that supposedly UN troops are going to "take over" the US.... the same UN that cannot maintain control over some tiny half-a$$ third world African nation that has more bananas than guns, here in a country who's citizens are better armed than all of Europe combined. Oy Vey!
Have fun with your trains

What makes the above scary is that not only do they vote - they breed!
Something occurred to me the other day. You don't suppose that these FEMA cars and the plans for the Omaha to Grand Forks passenger corridor are somehow related?

Maybe a FEMA boxcar would be a better alternative?

OK, don't do this, but...
Get a photo of some boxcar, a reefer would be best, with some unreadable stenciling.
Then computer generate a "close up" of the stenciling on the photo. Have the fake stenciling read something like:
"Shackle/Guillotine equipped car. When empty return to FEMA, Farmington, NM. Do not move empty unless all hurman remains, including detached heads, blood and/or guts have been removed"
Post it on the Internet.
Some folks would believe it. So, as I said, I don't think anyone should do it. But it's a funny thought.
Farmington, NM, of course, has no rail service. It was on the D&RGW narrow gauge.
Of course, the railroads don't help their cause when they put unintelligible words (like "ARMN") on the sides of these cars. That just has to be a code for something sinister! The Greenbrier Companies (owners of Gunderson, the plant mentioned in this piece), just was bragging about having orders for 5400 new railroad cars of all types. You would think that an order for 102,000 cars would be cause for celebration. And box cars...I don't think there have been that many built over the past 25 years (of course, "box cars" could cover everything that isn't a flat car in the dumbed-down coverage of the day). What really grinds me is the labeling of this as a "Christian" perspective on the news to lend it an air of authenticity.

You haven't heard of the secret vacuum tube line that goes there?
102,000? are there actually even that many real boxcars still in actual revenue service today?

I like Houston Ed's idea - a little more obscure, but right up these folk's alley:
Make a small stencil with lettering about 1” tall, one that reads… “Leased to FEMA under the REX 84 plan, ownership vested in a security agreement registered with the Federal Government”. Now, take some black or white sidewalk chalk…and right about eye level….

Carefully planted about the 'Net, I'm sure the images would be quickly embraced bought, hook, line and sinker by those so inclined.
Anybody with any ability in Photoshop or another such program could easily turn such images out. Not that I'd encourage such, but.... Sure is tempting!

Yes, actually.
NittanyLionYes, actually.
In that case American freedom is in no danger. Even if those white box cars were to round us all up our government could never accomplish the task.
One thing our government has always excelled at is using any power we give it, often to excess.
Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
102,000 boxcars -- where in the world are there enough tracks to store that many?
Considering how well FEMA has performed in the last few years (think Katrina and Sandy), I doubt we have too much to worry about.
Seems like I've seen pictures of 85-foot boxcars (or maybe it's my meds kicking in again). Anyway, an unbroken cut of 102,000 of the 85-footers would be over 1640 miles long. If 65-foot is a more common length, 102,000 of them coupled together would be over 1250 miles long. Either way, that's a LOT (like a quadruple sh**load) of boxcars. To put it in terms of distances at least some of us have thought of lately, 1640 miles is both tracks of UP's double-tracking project from San Antonio, TX to Los Angeles. If someone ordered that many cars from a carbuilder, that carbuilder's executive staff would all croak from heart attacks.

Although they're probably in the same boat as the Red Cross, which got complaints for not being responsive - people said they hadn't seen them at all. Of course, if they'd walked a block or two over - there they were...
